"You impudent little-" The man began, coalescing power in his hands.
"I can assure you I am not impudent." Salem interrupted "I am showing the amount of respect I believe you deserve."
"You-" The man began again, his entire body shaking with rage.
"Take us from here." Salem said to Alina. "I don't want to hear him speak anymore."
Alina placed a hand on both of them and Shadestepped them onto the street below.
The people of the street were shocked to see the three of them appear so suddenly, but quickly recovered and resumed their activities fearfully.
Glancing around, Salem wondered why they seemed so scared of them, but elected to explore the city, rather than interact with them.
Fearful people weren't as reliable as neutral or happy people.
People who feared you either would serve you to avoid their fears coming true, or mixed in falsehoods to their answers because they hated feeling fear.
The three of them stuck closely together, making their way through the densely packed crowds.
Since Salem noted many types of clothing, he figured their leathery flight suits wouldn't stick out too much.
Asking around about everything from local powers to the latest kidnappings, all three of them had compiled large amounts of information on the world they were in.
The world was called Luna*, this was a world where cultivation bases determined your status, strong people were assholes to the weak, and the man they had met once they 'spawned' in this world was the city lord, Oso*.
"Funny how the first power we offend is a city lord." Alina noted.
"Couldn't be helped." Salem said. "Our spawn was really disadvantageous."
"We looked like perverts." Ruby said. "Except you didn't even put her in your eyes."
"How were you able to maintain pure eyes?" Alina asked curiously.
"I have you two." Salem responded. "Why do I need anything more?"
Alina was about to respond, but was interrupted by a loud shout from in front of them.
"Move aside for the son of the Noche* Family!" A servant yelled, parting the crowd in front of them.
They moved along with the crowd, not wanting to have another asinine confrontation with an important figure.
The son of the Noche Family swaggered self-importantly through the path the crowd had created.
He glanced around, flipping his dark brown hair like Justin Bieber, absorbing the adoring and fearful looks on those mixed with the crowd.
As he looked around, he spotted both Ruby and Alina and was momentarily stunned. He quickly recovered and spoke quietly to his servant, never taking his eyes off of either one of them.
"He kind of looks like a fish." Salem said. "Both his eyes are focused in both of you."
Alina hid a smile by disguising it as a yawn while Ruby merely smiled at Salem.
Salem turned and tried to lead them away from the situation, but the young man called out to them.
"Stop. Unless you want to offend the Noche Family, I suggest you do as I say." The young man spoke as if he owned the world.
He walked maddeningly slowly to where the three of them stood, his eyes undressing the two women at Salem's sides.
"How much?" He asked Salem.
"No." Salem responded immediately, understanding that this sick little child wanted to buy them.
"Oh?" The man licked his lips. "Everything has a price. How about....A hundred stones of light?"
Salem heard a collective gasp, but he ignored it.
"I don't sell people." Salem said. "Maybe you should try and pursue them if you're so interested."
"You will sell them to me." He said.
"No. He won't." Alina stepped forward and spoke. "He doesn't own us, and neither will you."
"If he doesn't own you, why would you follow him?" The daft little wretch seemed puzzled.
"Companionship, friendship, trust," Alina tallied them off on her fingers. "Need I go on?"
"So if you have no owner, I, Vacío Noche, will take it upon myself to own you." Vacío spread his arms magnanimously, glancing around at the crowd.
*PAP*
Ruby stepped forward and delivered a slap with almost all if the force she could muster.
"Leave us be, you sick, sick f**k." Ruby said venemously. "Or I'll give you a taste of my sword."
As she spoke, she drew her sword, cast a spell to shroud it in flames, and stood in a ready stance.
"You'll regret this." Vacío said darkly, pointing his finger in Salem's face.
Alina kicked him in the groin, lifting him a meter off the ground, and leaving him to collapse like a broken doll.
A sound like a beach ball leaking air was released from his mouth as he lay, semi-conscious, and dazed upon the cobble road.
"You attacked the young master!" The servant was willing to bear with a slap, so long as his master didn't retaliate, but after they assaulted the young master outright, the servant was unable to stand by. "You'll pay for this!"
"I had wanted to avoid another idiotic situation like this." Salem sighed, rubbing his face. "Whatever. Let's just leave."
The servant drew a khopesh and slashed at them with the curved end of the sword cleaving at Salem's head.
Salem raised a hand and used his shadow to wrap around the entirety of the servant, immobilizing him.
"I'm not in a mood to deal with this bulls**t." Salem said. "Leave us alone and I'll let you live."
Salem released the man and coalesced black wings upon their backs.
With massive beats of their wings, all three of them took off simultaniously, making for the wilderness.
The servant was unable to pursue. He couldn't fly. Instead of chasing them, he took a stretcher and carried his young master to his family mansion.
....
"What happened?" The leader of the Noche family, Gilipollas demanded.
The servant who had escorted Vacío through the city was kneeling before him, trembling.
"He asked to buy two Elves and was refused by both the man and the two Elves. He stammered. "One of the Elves slapped him, and the other kicked him in his sacred jewels."
"AND YOU DID NOTHING?" Gilipollas yelled angrily.
"He was too strong!" The servant exclaimed. "He was able to stop me from moving with a single hand. He didn't even need to touch me!"
"So, my son may have offended three unheard of masters in the way of cultivation?" Gilipollas asked.
"It's very likely." The servant plastered himself against the floor.
"Mobilize all of the hired masters that we have in the family." Gilipollas said darkly. "They will die for this."
