Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

Once they left the city, Salem deconstructed his and the girls' masks.

Ruby was laughing at the utter terror the men had etched into their faces while Alina was making fun of the way they ran.

"They were so scared, their running was jerky!" Alina exclaimed, laughing.

"I saw several people wet themselves, too!" Ruby giggled happily.

Once they were chatting jovially, Salem felt the prisoners relax marginally.

Salem deconstructed the mask on one of the men's faces and started questioning him.

"Why did you come at us with so many men?" Salem asked.

"We wanted to get two new beauties for our boss.'' He said, panicked. "He killed his last two, so we thought your women would be good replacements."

Salem shook his head. "This world is so f**ked." He said, irritated.

"What makes you think he wouldn't kill 'MY' women if he killed two of his old ones?" He demanded. "And if they belonged to me, did you really think you had the right to take them?"

The man trembled when he saw the gathering fury within Salem. "N-no, we don't have the right to take them.'' The man made sure his answer was in present tense. "And he would probably kill them, yes."

The man flinched when he saw Salem's anger abruptly dissapate and get replaced by a calculating look.

"So if a child broke their toy on purpose, would you give them a better toy?" Salem asked.

The man shook his head.

"Then how is your master any different?" Salem said.

Salem's mask of calm was far more disturbing than if he were showing a face of anger. The man began panicking once more.

"P-p-please don't kill me!" He said, breaking down into tears. "I didn't have a choice!"

"No matter how much power someone has over you, you will always have a choice." Salem said disgustedly. "Don't blame your actions on someone else. Your actions are your own."

All of his captives began straining against the small exoskeleton Salem had used to control their movements.

"Because there is no justice in this world, I will serve in its place." Salem said coldly as he made a scythe materialize in front of him.

The scythe he made was decorated with silver machinery on the end of it, connected to the double-edged blade. The shaft was bent in a gradual 'S' shape and the haft ended in a silver spearhead.

Salem grabbed the scythe with both hands, plucking it out of the air, and swung it horizontally, severing the heads of each of his captives.

"We have a world to fix." Salem said, turning to the girls.

He paused, looking at their shocked faces. "What?" He asked.

"That was badass." Alina said.

"I've just never seen you angry enough to go cold." Ruby said, shuddering. "The scythe is cool though."

Salem shrugged. "I'll make matching outfits for all three of us so we can go to different locations and save people." He said, mentally designing the flowing black cloak.

Creating it, he made it as black as he possibly could, basing it off of the 'black 2.0' of home. It was so dark that once they put it on, they looked like incarnations of the night.

Salem made masks that were as white as he could manage, shaped like a skull. He wanted the masks to stand out against the cloak, making them seem like spirits.

He also added the ability for the wearer to change its colour to the same black as the cloak if they needed to get away, and put microphones and speakers in for communication.

For extra mobility, Salem also gave them actual wings. He based them off of fallen angels from his previous world in their size. They were just as dark as the cloak and made the whole outfit look sinister.

All three of them put their masks, wings, and cloaks on, hefted their scythes, and turned to the city.

"We've got a world to save." Salem said, dashing towards the city, Alina and Ruby following closely behind.

"No." Alina said. "We've got a Multiverse to save."
