Chapter 11 - Conquering His First Village

Shi walked into the middle of town square and shouted out a challenge. "I am taking this village, if you want to stop me, challenge me now. If you don't wish to die, swear fealty to me here and now." "Who the hell are you to be so bold, you're only a kid!?" A man called out from the crowd.

"I am Shi Saisei, and I am the one who killed Mubona and his goons because he kidnapped my mother. Now, are you swearing fealty or challenging me?" Shi said, staring at the man but speaking to everyone. "I will challenge you." A burly man said. "That's Tsuyoi, the strongest man in the village!" A villager excitedly exclaimed.

"He's has a yellow mana core and he's mastered many spells, there's no way he can lose." Shi stared at the man and said "If I beat this man, will you all swear fealty to me?" The villagers murmured at this, but they eventually agreed. If Tsuyoi couldn't beat this boy, then nobody else in the village stood a chance of defeating him, so it was the natural choice.

"You are a fool boy, to challenge me as you are. In a year or so, you could have beaten me. I may be in mid yellow core, but this is as far as I will ever go. You seem to have limits beyond mine and could have challenged me after you surpassed me, but instead, you foolishly challenged me before you were ready. For this you will die." Tsuyoi said, shaking his head sadly.

Shi paid no attention to the man's words thinking about the options his opponent had in this fight, he could attack physically, use fire magic or back off to gain time enough to use a more powerful spell on him, or maybe use a spell he created that was both fast and powerful. Shi was confident in his close combat abilities against the man, so no matter what Tsuyoi did, Shi should rush in.

Shi activated war cry, and sprinted at the man, karambit up and ready to attack or defend at the slightest movement. The man breathed fire at Shi, but Shi was ready, bringing some water that he had summoned while the man was talking to bear against the fire. The water washed through the fire and went straight for the man who stomped on the ground, making a small hill form to block the water.

Nobody but Shi knew about tectonic plates and whatnot in this world so this small hill took a lot of mana from Tsuyoi, leaving him at about 50% capacity. Shi pressed his advantage, getting in close and slicing Tsuyoi's arm before he could retreat. Tsuyoi drew back and formed an earth lion that attacked Shi.

Shi backed off a bit and summoned an earth bear to fight the lion. Shi started summoning wind to him while his bear started to beat the lion down and formed it into a tornado that he sent towards the lion. With the help of the tornado, the bear easily overpowered the lion and they turned towards Tsuyoi.

Tsuyoi smiled at Shi and opened his closed fist, in it was a lightning dragon. Suddenly. Shi's bear had a hole in it's chest. Shi brought a layer of water, encased in earth around him to protect from the lightning. He then rushed at Tsuyoi, letting the lightning dragon destroy his tornado.

After it destroyed both of Shi's creations, it turned to attack Shi himself. It pounded heavily against his shield, tearing off chunks of rock. But as it tore through Shi's last layer of protection, Shi slit Tsuyoi's throat. As Tsuyoi fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes, people started whispering. "Holy sh*t he actually killed Tsuyoi." A random villager said a bit too loudly.

Shi walked back to the center of town square and loudly announced "I have defeated the strongest man in this village, you can all submit to me now, or I can kill you as well." All of the villager kneeled immediately, bowing their heads to Shi. Shi walked into the second biggest building in town, the village leader's office. Shi opened the door and walked up to the man sitting at his desk and motioned him to stand up.

"You can either fight me and die here, or you can get the f*ck out of my sight." Shi said flatly to the man. The man rushed out of the building, sprinting back to his house. Shi sat down at his new desk and put his feet up. He turned to one of the villagers who seemed to have some influence and said, "I need maps of the area and people who can shoot a bow. What's your name?"

"My name is Seizon Sha my lord." The man responded, head down. "Cut that my lord sh*t this instant!" Shi said angrily, "You will be my second-in-command, so you don't need to be so deferential to me. Just get what I asked for and if people try to refuse, tell them to take it up with me." "Of course young master Shi." Seizon said, giving a quick bow and leaving.

The maps came in first, and Shi saw that this world had the same form as his original one. He was at the southernmost tip of Japan, on the island of Kyushu. There was a village to the northwest and another one to the northeast. A bit north of both of those villages was castle Saiban, where Shi would have to deal with the castle garrison and the numerous strong mages residing there.

The villages to the north were also richer and better armed than the one that Shi was currently in. Shi decided to target the village to the northwest first because it was slightly poorer than the other village and it was surrounded by a small mountain range that would allow Shi to have an advantage if he had to defend it.

Shi heard a knock on the door and called out for the person to enter. Seizon came in with about 30 men clad in thin leather armor. Seizon gave a quick bow and said, "These are all the hunters in the village young master Shi." The men all kneeled and bowed their heads towards Shi, presenting their bows.

Shi inspected the men, impressed that this simple village produced archers that were this decent. "Good job Seizon, you men go home for now and return in two weeks, I will personally build you guys a barracks. Seizon, you stay by me for the time being. I could use your influence and expertise on the matters of this village." After Shi finished giving his orders, he went out to the woods and started chopping down trees. With the wood he needed secured, Shi set out to build a barracks.
