"Ray, calm down," Vaille said as he paced around the room, trying to do exactly do that.
"I am trying to do that, princess." He said, sighing. "I just ... am surprised. That is all."
"If surprised is all you are, I would appreciate it if you wiped that frown from your face," Lillian said, pointing to the scary frown on his face.
Lillian is not entirely out of her dress but is partially out as the maids scrubbed her clean with water from the pitchers. She refused at first but Vaille would not take no for an answer.
"I am not frowning. What are you talking about, Lillian?" He asked through clenched teeth. "You know that I am not mad."
"You definitely are mad. Look, you are scaring the maids." Lillian said, pointing to the maids shaking in the corner of the room.
He turned to them and one of the maids just dropped the pitcher of water she carried in her hands.
