My name is Ray Ford, and currently, I'm stuck in the Borderlands universe. How do I know this? Simple really. I was lying in an open grave in Fyrestone with a little robot burying me.

.

Ford: "You can stop burying me now." I groaned as I sat up from inside the grave.

CL4p-trap: "You're alive?" Claptrap's voice greeted me as I crawled out of the grave. His iconic yellow chaise entered my vision as it did so.

Ford: "I don't know what else I would be." I told the robot as I stood.

Claptrap: "You could be a zombie. If you are, Doctor Zed's brother, Doctor Ned, would love to dissect you." The robot told me.

Ford: "I'm good, thank you." I told the robot as an influx of memories made me stumble.

.

I sighed as I brushed my short brown hair. I understood why, when, and what I was doing here. Why? By random luck, I was chosen. When? Three days before the cannon starts. What? To satisfy a god's whims. Thankfully, I got a system of my choice. But in my infinite wisdom, I asked for a modern weapon system. The reason? I always thought that the weapons of Borderlands were odd and impractical.

.

Thankfully, by the whim of a god, I got a starter pack as a beginning bonus, which consisted of a house in Fyrestone, a random assortment of four weapons, and an inventory ability. Once away from the grave and into the small town, if you could call it that, I headed for my house. A simple dome-styled one like the rest of Fyrestone that I unlocked the door after retrieving the key for it from my [Inventory]. The inside was lightly furnished with a simple bed, desk, chair, and kitchenette. But the rest of the house was an open workshop made for modifying guns. That made the gun nut in me jump for joy.

.

Deciding to forgo seeing the rest of the house, I walked into the workshop area and the minor armory that it had. There, held on a weapon rack, were my four starting weapons. For a handgun, it was a Beretta 9mm (Common). For a rifle, an m4 with a holo-sight (Common). For a sniper rifle, a Barrette 50 cal (Rare). And for a shotgun, an AA12 with drum mags (Uncommon). And with enough ammo to start a minor gang war.

.

Normally, I'd be jumping for joy just to be able to hold any of these firearms, but this was the Borderlands universe and I needed to be real here. These guns were my lifeline in this new life of mine. And since I didn't have a shield yet, getting hit could and would be the death of me. Right now, I needed the ability to shoot straight and hit what I aimed at. That's when I noticed a note sitting by the armory. Grabbing the note, I was surprised at what it said.

.

'Dear Reincarnatee,

If you are reading this, that means you have successfully survived the process of sending your soul to your new reality. Now then, you might be wondering why the note. Simple, this is to tell you how your system works.

First: You can buy weapons via the interface, their prices are equal to those in your old world.

Second: You can't sell them back, but you can sell them to the Borderlands vendors. They'll be labeled as Terra-tech. Their specialty is armor and shield piercing.

Third: The house and basement are loaded with enough supplies to last you two Pandora weeks

Fourth: It's up to you (The author) to do as you see fit. I want to see what you'll do with all you have now from this point on.

That's all.

Yours truly,

Hades

.

Huh, how nice of him. At least I know which god I'll be entertaining during my new life here.

.

But that wasn't the problem right now. The problem right now is that the town will be crawling with bandits in a Pandorian day's time. And the worst part? It's been years since I last held a firearm so I got to relearn how to shoot. With both arms at that.

.

At least I knew the story somewhat. I've watched my nephew play the first, second, and pre-sequel. I died before the third came out. So now, I just need a plan.

.

Be a weapons Vendor, and possibly get killed. Be a mercenary, and possibly get killed. Or be a Vault hunter, and possibly get killed.

.

Which one is the best for me not to get killed? Either way, I need to learn how to shoot
