Chapter 288 - Worst case scenario?

Aria didn't want to tell people about her past, but that was the only way she could convince people she wasn't the queen's daughter. No one would believe a little girl over their own queen, unless her story was enough to justify her acting as having forgotten her past.

"Worst case scenario, I accept I am the Queen's daughter. Better to be the princess of this kingdom than a rival kingdom's." Aria sighed to herself.

"Good morning Aria. Did you sleep well?" Miss Anhao's voice floated in and Aria had barely enough time to replace her frown with a smile before she was by her bed.

Aria had been so preoccupied with her thoughts that she hadn't noticed Miss Anhao. "Good morning Miss Anhao." Aria replied.

"How are your wounds Aria?" she asked. "Umm . . a little better I guess." Aria replied, slightly stretching herself to check is any wounds re-opened. Some hurt a little wince, and Aria bit back a smile as she continued, "I think they're healing perfectly. Maybe we can even remove the bandages from some of the little ones. They're all clotted over."

"With your reputation, I will never take that risk. Who knows when and who you will sneak in here." Miss Anhao replied, slowly starting to remove her bandages.

Once Miss Anhao was done with giving Aria a bath and dressing her wounds, she brought in breakfast.

Though Aria still wasn't happy about the liquid diet, she made no complaints. Getting the dressings changed was really tough work, and she had far too much on her mind to grumble about breakfast right now.

Miss Anhao stood up with a smile as Aria finished her breakfast. "Perfect! Now I will go and report the condition of your injuries to David while you can . . " Miss Anhao stopped, thinking. "Maybe you can distract yourself with some of these books." she completed her sentence, looking at all the books Helen had brought in the day before.

Her head snapped in the direction of the door hearing a knock and Miss Anhao said with a smile, "Looks like you will not need to distract yourself. I'll just go and make sure your first visitor is clean, and then let them in." Aria nodded and straightened herself a little on the bed. She didn't really enjoy talking to people all that much, but had gotten used to it by now.

But as the person walked in, Aria's eyes brightened up. "Joseph!!" she exclaimed.

As much as Aria would have liked to boast of her own influence over Joseph, even she hadn't been sure that Joseph had really meant when he said that they would talk tomorrow. She had assumed that he wouldn't even come anywhere near the recovery ward now, and she would have to force him to talk to her, which wouldn't have been very pretty. He was as stubborn as her, after all.

But Aria pushed all these thoughts away from her mind as Joseph slowly walked over and sat down. He didn't meet Aria's eyes as she kept looking at him. He kept looking somewhere near his shoes and fidgeting. Joseph seemed to be nervous, he kept shaking his right foot and fidgeting his hands.

Not knowing what to do with them, Joseph finally dropped his hands on his lap as Aria spoke.
