Miss Anhao continued, "I suspect you even fought with them open, and as a result many of the burns had festered. Though we were able to remove the infected tissues, your burns still carry a huge chance of infection. To avoid your burns getting infected, Professor Thomas moved you here from the Scott mansion and asked the infirmary to be sealed off. Though no one was allowed in, your friends visited everyday. The first few days I turned them away, and most of them soon gave up, except Miss Scott. She begged me to let her in, and promised to maintain a distance of two metres from you. She would come everyday fresh from the bath, and sit here for long periods of time. But today. . . . . ." Miss Anhao stopped and shook her head.
"She touched me because she was excited that I woke up." Aria finished her sentence and stared at the ceiling in relief. So that was why no one was allowed to see her and why Miss Anhao had over-reacted. But she was pulled from her thoughts when Miss Anhao spoke up, "It's not just that child. I don't know why, but Miss Scott came in today straight from practice. She was all muddy and sweaty." Aria replied with an oh and turned silent. In her excitement upon seeing Helen, and worry about whether everyone thought she was a monster, Aria hadn't really noticed whether Helen was muddy or sweaty.
Aria thought about all Miss Anhao had told her as the pain in her wounds continued to build up. By the time Dr. David arrived, it had gotten to the point that Aria was breathing through her mouth to even her breathing and even speaking was a task for her.
"I know it must hurt, Miss Aria. But just a few moments." Dr. David said as Aria began to float and she was carried into an inner chamber that was the emergency ward.
Aria nodded and tried to think of different things as David ran some tests on her. Her pain had become unbearable and Aria was sweating by the time he said to Miss Anhao, "I have run some basic tests. Though she seems fine, I would like to run some more tests."
"But the child is in too much pain. She needs the potion." Miss Anhao objected.
Dr. David cast one long look at Aria, sweating due to the pain and barely holding onto her consciousness. He nodded with a sigh and said, "Fine. But give her a small amount. I would like her to return to her normal sleeping schedule." Miss Anhao nodded and fed Aria the sleep-induced pain-reducing potion with a smile.
Aria gladly drained the whole glass before she was flown back to her bed in the recovery ward. Miss Anhao was stroking Aria's forehead as she drifted off to sleep. "This feels just like how mom used to put me to sleep." was Aria's last thought before sleep overtook her.
"Sleep now child. It will be little more bearable once you wake up." Miss Anhao spoke, kissed the sleeping Aria's forehead and stood up. "She's asleep?" A voice came from the door of the recovery ward as Miss Anhao stood up.
