Aria's eyes popped out of their sockets. She could hardly imagine Helen ever being that strong. She had potential, no doubt, but Helen was not willing to train it.
Seeing her surprised expression, Professor Thomas chuckled, "Now you understand why it is so important to teach bendors, especially the ones with great potential, to control their emotions."
Aria said in a small voice, "So what if someone like Joseph, or..."
She did not complete her sentence, but Professor Thomas seemed to have understood. His tone turned grave as he said, "To tell you the truth Aria, I've never before seen talent like you. Did you know, even the queen learnt to bend with her will when she was 25?"
Aria nodded and the Professor continued, "And you're already able to bend with your will."
"It's not very precise and I can't bend elements at a big scale. And I lose control a lot." Aria murmured.
Professor Thomas: "See, you are practically the strongest that anyone had been at your age. I think that it is only the lack of experience in combat that leads to you losing to me."
Aria said nothing, but Thomas continued, "I'm flattering myself. It's only because I give in to my instincts and you stop yourself just before you do." Aria opened her mouth in surprise, and Professor Thomas smiled, "Yes my child. What kind of a headmaster, or for that matter, a fighter I would be if I could not even tell that?"
Aria lowered her head and brought the conversation back on topic, "What if I flew into a rage?"
Professor Thomas shook his head, "I can't be sure as I've not even seen you give in to your instincts, so I don't know how much you've been holding back. But if I had to guess, I would say that you would lay waste to the whole kingdom and no one would be able to stop you."
Aria was dumbfounded as she stared open mouthed at the Professor. She would lay waste to the whole kingdom? And no one would be able to stop her?
Professor Thomas stood up and said, "Now. If this answers your question, I suggest you get back to bed. Unless you have something else you want to ask?"
Aria shook her head and walked to the window. As she climbed on it, Professor Thomas said, "So I would advice you not to lose your temper Aria. And smile more. It looks good on you."
Aria turned around to see Professor Thomas chuckling before she jumped out. As Aria hovered near the window, she heard Professor Thomas mumble as he closed the window, "I miss the days I could be as reckless as that. I'm really getting old."
Aria chuckled to herself. Despite saying that, Professor Thomas could probably take on ninety percent of the students at the academy on at the same time and even defeat them.
As she went back to her room and combed through her tangled hair, the scenes from that night seven years ago swimed in her mind. Aria was glad that she had been able to regain control after seeing Julia's face. If she had not been able to, Aria shuddered at the thought.
