Chapter 51 - My fourteenth birthday

Aria sat on her bed for some time before she changed and got into bed. But Aria could not sleep however much she tried. She tossed and turned before finally sitting up with a sigh.

Ever since Aria had been a child, she did not have much problem sleeping. So she would feel very frustrated if she was forced to stay awake.

Arai looked out the window. She could see the leaves rustling and could hear her window panes vibrating. This meant that the wind outside was blowing pretty fast. Aria's devil mind spun and she grinned to herself as she got out of bed, pulled on her thickest coat and gloves. Aria also put on her muffler and opened the window. The cold wind immediately rushed in and stung Aria's face. But her face broke out into a smile as Aria climbed on the window and softly landed on thr ground below. She then shut the window and closed her eyes, turning her face in the direction opposite to the direction the wind was blowing. As a result, the cold wind hit her face and her golden hair flew behind.

Aria closed her eyes and began to leviate in the air. She was soon about 15 feet from the ground. Aria began to fly here and there, enjoying the wind. Her loosely braided hair flew open behind her. Suddenly Aria stopped. Something cold had just fallen on the tip of her nose. Aria looked up to see that it was the first snow. She became all the more happy and flew towards the nearby hill.

When Aria reached the foot of the hill, the snow was falling hard and would probably soon covered the ground.

Aria's mind came up with another devilish idea and she began to work. After about a quarter of an hour, Aria stepped back and examined her work. She was very satisfied with the little snowman she had built as Aria gave it a final touch by inserting two branches and making it's hands. As Aria blew on her hands to make them warm, she painfully realised that she had come out of the house without any slippers. Aria slapped her forehead upon her own stupidity and quickly flew back to her house. As she climbed back through the window and sat on the bed, Aria looked to see that the soles of her feet had turned blue and were hurting really bad.

"I just hope that I won't get frost bite. What was I thinking? Going out to enjoy the cold wind? Idiot." With this thought Aria removed her gloves and put them on the table.

She then took off her muffler and wrapped it around her feet as she got into bed, the coat still on, and covered herself with the blanket. Under the blanket, Aria curled herself into a ball with a smile on her face, enjoying the much needed warmth that the blanket provided.

Aria's fourteenth birthday was not anything like she would have expected it to be years ago, but she was still not distressed and went to bed with a smile on her face.
