Reeve had the same question; however, he also had a lot of other unanswered questions.
Oldavin replied, "They must be waiting at the clearing beyond the village. I know you have a lot of questions, but I must ask you to wait."
"What are we waiting for? We've already arrived at the village!" replied Reeve.
Before Oldavin could say something, five people walked towards them. There were three men and two women. Among the five people, Reeve recognized two of them. Of course, it was the school principal and his wife. As for the other three, he had never met them before, but they all had the same halo as Eskaria and the principal.
"Oh, you're all here", said one of the people. He was a middle-aged man, who looked like he'd been to the gym a bit too much. His rippling muscles caused Reeve to frown. Was this guy trying to play Someone the barbarian?
"Hello Paldin. Have you forgotten to wear clothes again?" chuckled Eskaria … rather, Mysa.
"Ah, Mysa. Do you want to be my wife?" asked Paldin, the barbarian middle-aged man.
A vein popped up on Mysa's face, which Reeve thought was amusing. Come to think of it, he had never seen Eskaria angry before. Besides the barbarian, there were two other people. One of the people was a woman with long, blue hair. She was wearing a tight-fitting dress, and there was an area on her body which Reeve couldn't help but stare at.
"I wouldn't stare at her if I were you. She's too old for you", the person who made this remark was Mysa.
This time, the vein popped on the woman's forehead. "Mysa! It's nice to see you back to your old antics again! No one missed you when your memories were sealed!"
"It's nice to see you too, Haggarth. I see you're still walking around disguising yourself like a young lady."
Another vein popped on Haggarth's face. "Mysa! What do you want? Do you want me to kill you?"
"You can try if you want. Did you forget what I happened last time we fought?" Mysa chuckled.
Haggarth's face turned a fair shade of crimson. She began walking towards Mysa. "I guess I have to teach you to respect others!" As she began to walk, the wind started blowing, and making howling sounds.
"That's enough, you two!" Oldavin intervened, and the wind calmed.
"So, that's one of the Chosen?" asked the last person, who was a middle-aged man. He had long, black, curly hair that reached the shoulders. His body was covered by a long, grey robe, with a familiar looking symbol.
Reeve could swear he had seen this symbol somewhere before, but he just couldn't remember where … and when. He realized that this man was pointing towards him. "M-me?" he asked.
"No, not you!" replied the man.
That was when Reeve realized he was standing in front of Soren. He smiled bashfully. It only took a few seconds before the embarrassment turned into hurt. If he wasn't the chosen one, why was he reincarnated? Aren't the people who are reincarnated in anime usually chosen ones who are supposed to save the world from the demon king or the other? Why wasn't he chosen then?
"Me?" asked Soren.
"Yes, can't you feel it?" asked Oldavin, who was replying to the middle-aged man, instead of Soren.
"Leave it up to the gods to give their power to a bunch of kids! Hmpf!" with a snort, he stomped off to the gods know where.
"You never change, do you, Diophas? You're still a grumpy old fart! No wonder you've never had a wife!"
Diophas stopped walking, before turning to face Mysa, who was chuckling. "Mysa! It seems some of your memories are still missing. Do you want me to remind you of what happened with Rokkai?" he was smiling … and something about that smile looked completely horrifying.
Mysa frowned, before her cheeks turned pink.
"As I imagined, you don't want me to say it. If that is correct, learn to keep quiet!" with a cold snort, he continued walking away.
Rokkai and his wife looked at each other.
"What happened between the two of you?" Reeve asked.
Mysa exploded, "What concern of yours is it?"
"I was just asking … sheesh, don't be such a b--" Reeve didn't get to finish his statement. A frightening aura covered the entire area, making it difficult to breathe. Cold sweat started pouring down, before Oldavin gave a light cough. The aura disappeared completely. Reeve had learnt something, if he wanted to live peacefully, it wasn't good to antagonize this version of Eskaria.
"Welcome to the floating islands. I know you have many questions, and I will do my best to answer them all", Oldavin spoke with a reassuring smile.
"First question, what are we doing here?" Reeve asked.
"A long time ag--"
"Oldavin, your stories are too long! Please make them shorter!" Mysa interrupted.
The recipient of the remark frowned. "Would you like to tell this story then, Mysa?"
"Do I look like old?" she chuckled.
"What does that have to d--" it was then that Reeve realized that Mysa was trying to insult Oldavin. "Ooh…"
"If you don't like the way I tell this story, either tell it yourself, or leave, and if you don't like that, simply keep quiet!"
A frightening silence followed. "As I was saying, a long time ago, we ran away from our world, because it was being invaded by these beings called titans. When we arrived in this world, we discovered that there were gods that governed not just this world, but many of the others too. However, their presence was more concentrated in this world."
Oldavin paused. "We managed to contact some of the gods, and that's when we learned that they held a tournament every one thousand years. You see, the gods were bored, but since they couldn't fight amongst themselves, they gave a bit of power to some humans. These humans were called the seven seeds, and he's one of them", he pointed to Soren.
"Why would they do that?" asked Soren, confused. It didn't make sense, no matter how one looked at it.
"Yeah, the gods wouldn't get so bored they would simply give their power to humans. That sounds highly irrational", Reeve supported.
