"Whew. That woman is a lot of trouble. I guess I have to leave this damned city!" declared Jaen, as he turned to go where Reeve was.
"Young man, I'm sorry, but you have to leave my shop. Our arrangement is no longer in effect."
"Wait, what? Why?" asked Reeve, as his eyes narrowed.
"I'll be leaving Sky City, you see. I've had it with people in this city! No one respects me enough around here! All they want from me are my portions, but no one respects me! Hmpf! A good example is that woman! She came here pretending that she needed me, all because she was having trouble sleeping at home!"
"Hey hey. Can you calm down a little?"
Jaen sighed, "Anyway, I can no longer continue to stay in this damned city."
"Why though? You can still--"
"You don't know anything at all!"
"Eh? Now it's personal?"
"Hmpf! If you know what's good for you, then you should leave", replied Jaen, as he left the room.
Reeve was confused. Well, who wouldn't be? He actually thought things were going so well, yet here they were. Where would he get the money, which he needed to enrol at Artemine? With a soft sigh, he stood up and then left the room, with his portions. Before he left the shop, he looked around to see Jaen closely packing some portions.
'I guess this guy is really serious. Whew, there goes my money. And I wanted to show off my high school chemistry skills', thought Reeve, as he left the shop. He was a bit tired, so he decided to return to the Wolfe mansion. However ...
"Eh? It's you!" declared a familiar sounding feminine voice.
Reeve turned to see the source of the voice, only to see a familiar figure. With a beautiful face, and golden-brown hair that shines, the figure looked surprised.
"What are you doing here?" asked Reeve.
"I'm going home. You think I live in the shop?"
"Umm no. Of course not", replied Reeve with a nervous laugh. "My name is Reeve. I didn't get your name last time."
"Reeve? What a weird name. My name is Wynn. Nice to meet you, Reeve", she said with a smile.
'Man, she's beautiful! If only …'
"So, where do you live?" she derailed his train of thought with a simple question.
"Umm. I'm currently staying at the Wolfe Mansion", replied Reeve.
"Eh? The Wolfe mansion? Do you know someone there?"
"Yes. The elder daughter is a friend of mine."
"Wow. I heard that she acts like a boy, and that was the reason she doesn't have any friends", said Wynn with a slight chuckle.
"Where did you hear that?" asked Reeve with a puzzled expression.
"Uh… Forget I said anything", replied Wynn, with a bright smile. "I guess we're going in different directions then?"
"Where do you live?"
"In the Southern district. Next time you visit, I will give you a … hold on…" the girl seemed confused. She suddenly asked, "Where are you coming from?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"Are you an alchemist?"
"Questions upon questions. Why do you want to know?"
Wynn chuckled. "You see, when you came to my grandmother's shop, I thought you were an idiot. I wondered why a sane person would buy so many smelly Valerian plants. But then if you were an alchemist, then that would make sense. Around the corner, there's a shop that sells portions. What I don't get, is what kind of portion would use those smelly plants?"
"You're too inquisitive, do you know that?" asked Reeve, with a smile. "You'd be better off using those skills as a detective", he chuckled as he said that.
"A what?"
"Never mind. Anyway, farewell. If fate allows, I'm sure we'll meet again", replied Reeve as he walked away. He left Wynn standing there, stunned speechless. She didn't even know what had happened.
Meanwhile, Rizaneth walked out of a pub. Rather than calling it walking out, it was safe to say she ran out. After running for a distance, she stopped, gasping for air. Back in the pub, a large fight had broken out. There were sounds of furniture being crashed, glass being broken and so on. Everyone in the bar was involved in a large commotion. What had happened for this to take place?
Five minutes earlier –
Rizaneth was sitting on a chair, drinking from a very large cup. Beside her, there was a young man. This young man was wearing leather armour. He had short brown hair.
"Seems like someone is being paid very well", began Riza, after taking a gulp.
"What do you want?" asked the young man.
"I need information. I heard there's a Sin in town", she replied.
The young man paused a bit. He appeared to be thinking, before taking a drink. "You shouldn't be involved in this. What do you really want to know?"
"Some time ago, we got captured by bandits. We managed to escape, but we were missing one person. Apparently, that person took her."
"Oh, is that so? Then I'm sorry for your loss", replied the young man, nonchalantly.
"Where's he?"
The young man paused again. "Rizaneth Wolfe. It's been how long? Yet, it seems you haven't changed. Jumping head first into a storm… Wasn't that what got you kicked out of the academy?"
Riza frowned. "I'm not here to talk about me, Dithar! I need to find the girl, and for that, I need information."
"I wish you the best in obtaining that information", replied Dithar, as he stood up.
Rizaneth was annoyed, but then she thought of an idea.
"Hey you! Do you know him?" she shouted at one of the patrons, while pointing at Dithar. The patron looked at her, before shaking his head slowly. "Well, that's odd. He said he's slept with your mother! I thought he was acquainted with you."
Someone once said it's easier to provoke a drunk person. That theory has never been proven of course. However, currently, everyone in the pub was about to find out how much trouble one drunk person can cause. Dithar paused in his footsteps, and then turned to look at Rizaneth. Well, that didnt do any good at all.
The patron stood up, and then threw the cup he was holding towards Dithar, who dodged it easily. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it. The cup hit someone who was behind Dithar, causing that person to fall unconscious. The people he was drinking with didn't take that lying down…
And thus, the fight broke out. Rizaneth chuckled, before raising her cup towards Dithar. She appeared unperturbed, until someone threw a chair towards her. Despite managing to dodge at a hair's breadth, more objects came at her. That was when she decided staying might do her more harm than leaving. She placed a couple of silver coins on the counter, and then turned to leave. Dithar threw a cup towards her, and when she dodged, he started running towards her. The cup hit someone who was closer to Riza.
Riza started running out of the pub, with Dithar following her. However, Dithar was held by the person he had hit with a cup. And thus, Riza managed to escape from the pub, leaving behind mayhem.
