Everything was wrong.
It was messed up how everything could go so wrong so quickly. In just one afternoon, her life had been viciously turned upside down, like a table in a bar fight.
Not an hour ago, she had been wondering what kind of surprise her father would have in store for her this year on her birthday. Last year, he had gifted her with her own bow and quiver. He had carved it himself from a branch off her favorite cherrywood tree. To this day it was still her prized possession.
Now she was running for her life through the dense, moonlit forest she once called home. Her father was dead, her home burned to a smoldering pile of ruin, and her father's last orders ringing in her mind. Go west to an unknown city between the mountain and the sea where her long lost uncle will help her train for what's to come. The only problem is, she doesn't know who that is or why they want her dead.
