Chapter 39 - An unwilling nosy neighbor

Bai Mei Li knew she was being a little dramatic, but this really did make her feel a bit depressed. Although this was would be solved easily… hopefully. She didn't want to open her doors so early. It wasn't like she didn't want to help people, or that she didn't like her own profession. The problem lay in another area. She hadn't really been given a opportunity to understand this world and how the mind of it's people worked herself. The only people she'd really come into contact with were transmigrators. And even though they all came from earth they were also influenced by this world as well. Everyone had come to the place at different times. Some people had been here for decades. That could mean nothing, everything, or something in the middle. The point was she just didn't know and wanted some time to better understand the situation of this world.

Of course she would understand as she had sessions with her clients but that basically meant she would be learning by trail and error, it felt wrong to experiment with the mental health of other. They didn't just in her profession to being with. A slightly big error in judgement and they would trust her at all.

It's as impossible for them all to still think exactly like they did with they lived on earth. In ordered to survive you had to accumulate. There was nothing wrong with that of course. Even she had begun to change the way that she thought and she hadn't even been here that long.

That being said she honestly believed that she needed more time to get use to her own situation and work out her mental traumas that being thrown into this place as before she started trying to unpack the baggage of others.

Still she was extremely grateful for the safety and security that the Sanctuary had given her. She could only imagine how much more difficult this would have been had she of had be in this world all alone without anymore to share this unique experience with.

She was torn.

She truly didn't know what the right thing to do was.

As an example she was already trying to mentally prepare herself for a time when she'd have to take a human life. Back on her she wouldn't of been entertained sure a idea. She couldn't imagine how much the other travelers here hand adjusted and changed to accommodate this new environment.

It was because of this that she wasn't all that excited to jump into a counseling session. She just felt like she needed more time to observe and experience things.

So with all of the to think about and not even considering the natives here were almost completely a mystery to her, it really shouldn't be too shocking that she wasn't looking forward to an impromptu therapy session.

She couldn't help but sigh again as she went through the previous Bai Mei Li's interactions.

She found that they weren't much help at all. The girl was selfish to the bone, and was only interested in her own opinion. She rarely asked questions of other and simply barked out orders. The memories weren't completely useless, but they weren't very helpful either.

She stopped a few feet away from Fan Tao and the couple. Chu Ling and Chai Yang weren't far behind her.

The couple had finally stopped arguing but their language would warn anyone that that a storm was brewing just beneath the surface.

"I'm sorry for interrupting. My Name Is Bai Mei Li. I'm a psychiatrist… I thought I might be able to help this matter get settled in a more peaceful manner." She said with a polite smile. As usual she didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point. They'd heard Fan Tao asking for to come after all.

"We're not crazy, we don't need this. It's useless on sane people. Does it even help the insane? You're waste you're time." Ye Xiu was the first to speak. She looked dismissively at Bai Mei Li. She couldn't understand why intelligent people would waste their time on a field that was barely useful. 'Who even goes to them back home? Here, isn't she completely useless?'

With a mental roll of her eyes Bai Mei Li kept her expression straight. Back home exactly how many time had she heard this? Especially when she left American and went back home. Her people just had an almost instinctual distrust for doctors that threat the mind. She of course understood where that came from. She dealt with this stigma in her own family. Instead of responding to Ye Xiu she turned to Li Yu. "This is as calm as your going to get her. Take this opportunity to tell her how you've settled the situation."

Li Yu hadn't had any intention of speaking to this woman that had been called over. While it was true that her beauty was truly unordinary, Li Yu was unmoved. To him it didn't matter who it was Xiu'er would always be the best in his eye, and Xiu'er seemed to understand what this woman was and didn't place much weight on it. He trusted Xiu'ers judgement. but he was surprised now. He'd been trying to calm Xiu'er down for a while now to explain himself but every time he did it only seemed to set her off and he'd then have to go back to trying to calm her down. So how did this woman know that he'd already found a solution? 'Who is this woman?' He scrutinized the delicate beauty in front of him carefully.

She was clearly annoyed by what Xiu'er had said though it appeared she was trying to keep her temper in check. Her facial expression was very calm it was just that her eye brow would occasionally twitch.

He stopped looking at the woman and turned to Xiu'er, Bai Mei Li was right. He shouldn't take this chance to explain himself while he had it. "Xiu'er I've already purchased us a mansion of our own. We will move out of the main house. That woman will stay there, she has nothing to do with me. Mother can make her the concubine of one of my brothers, she won't be wronged. I've already sent a letter to third brother asking if he'll take responsibility." He blurted everything out as quickly as possible, he was afraid it might not get out otherwise.

Ye Xiu was silent for a long while before spoke in an aggrieved tone. "Why didn't you say this from the beginning. You allowed me to be upset for such a long time without reason. Not to mention your fight has disturbed so many people! It's very inconsiderate!" Her tone in the last sentence dripped with justice and indignation.

Li Yu was stupefied. 'My fight? I was clearly just blocking…' of course he wouldn't dare voice that. "I'm wrong, I'm sorry. Forgive me already." He reached out and dragged her into his embrace.

Ye Xiu who of course wasn't angry willingly snuggled.

Fan Tao was exasperated.

Chai Yang was confused.

Chu Ling was delighted.

Bai Mei Li was disgusted. 'These bastards.'

She didn't even want to stay anymore. "Ling Ling lets go." She nodded to Fan Tao and Chai Ying and turned to leave.

"How did you know Li Yu had already solved everything. You didn't even inquire about anything." Fan Tao said just as she was leaving. His curiosity getting the better of him.

Once he put it out there it reminded Li Yu and put it to attention now everyone else. They now where all looking at her with equal amounts of curiosity.

"Li Yu was too calm. There was no fear in his tone just anxiousness about Ye Xiu'er anxiety. He wasn't placing any concern in the situation. He only wanted Ye Xiu to calm down. His lack of fear and calmness was enough to make the educated guess that the problem wasn't really a problem. He just needed the opportunity to explain himself." She smiled and then turned and again and left with Chu Ling.

The other left behind were silent for a long while before Li Yu broke the silence.

"Is it really that simple?"

"I don't think so." Fan Tao responded. "It's difficult to imagine that she could have that level of confidence if it were that simple."

"It was just a guess… it's not that impressive." Ye Xiu said. She wasn't being nasty it was just that she found it difficult to back track after what she'd when Bai Mei Li had just arrived. Wouldn't that just be her slapping her own face.

Li Yu and the others understood her personality well. She wasn't a bad person, she was occasionally thin skinned.

"Either way I'm glad you guys got this resolved. You'll be responsible for the reconstruction that's needed." Chai Yang added.

"Of course." Li Yu and Ye Xiu said in unison. They would definitely take care of the damages that they were responsible for. They hadn't intended to effect others with their problems, but emotions had been so high that they hadn't been about to control themselves. There was guilt there as well. They really should of controlled themselves better then they had.

Mean while Bai Mei Li and Chu Ling had returned to the city center where the array was put up. Xiao Jun and Fei'er where waiting for them. By the time they returned the array had already been taken down.

Once the children spotted them they immediately ran over. Fear and excitement both evident in their expressive eyes.

The two women bent down to pick up the children and cuddle them protectively in her their arms. Xiao Jun was silent, but was hugging Bai Mei Li tightly. He really felt like he wanted to cry, but he knew he shouldn't. He was a man after all so he held it in. His elder sisters gentle and rhythmic petting of his back wasn't helping. He felt both safe and comforted in her gentle arms.

Chu Fei however had no such reservations so the moment she managed to get into her mother arms she began to wail out all her grievances. She'd buried her face into her mothers neck and was crying with all her had.

Bother she a big brother Jun had been frightened.

They didn't understand what was going on and no one was willing to take time out in all the confusion to really explain it to them. Her mother and just disappeared during such a scary event and then had taken a long time to return. It was just all too scary.

"Ling Ling would it be okay if Xiao Jun and I stayed with you tonight?" Bai Mei Li ask while still comforting the little steam bun in her arms.

"Of course! Your apartment isn't exactly livable right now. You and Jun'er can stay with us as long as you like. No need to think about time limits."

"Thanks a lot, we really appreciate."

Chu Ling led the way to her house. She'd actually intended to ask them to stay with her even before this incident happened. It was just her and Fei'er living in that house. She felt that having Mei and Jun'er there would living things up. Fei'er would certainly be less lonely.

So she was more then enthusiastic about Bai Mei Li asking on her own.
