Chapter 19 - Chai Ying fights (3)

Thunder was rumbling loudly in the sky. Bai Mei Li's voice could no longer cover it's sound. She stopped singing as it wasn't doing anymore good. Xiao Jun was very quite now. He was frightened and clinging to her tightly. His small body trembling in her arms.

Bai Mei Li looked down at him. "Jun'er do you want to take the blindfold off?" She asked softly in his ear. She didn't think it was a good idea, but she also thought at this point it should be his choice.

He shook his head. Whatever was going on out there sounded terrible. Frankly speaking he just didn't want to see it. He was scared enough as it was… he didn't need to feel even more frightened. He wasn't curious at all.

"Alright. Just lay on elder sister. Everything will be alright my darling. I will protect you from all harm with my own life so rest assured. Try and get some rest. Once you wake up maybe we will already be at the surprise." She kissed his head and began to rock him in a rhythmic manner.

Bai Mei Li knew that she wouldn't stand a chance at fighting this demon beast. She wasn't even a ant in its eyes, but she was the target of its rage… or rather the first target of it's rage. She knew that in a worse case scenario she would be able to use this to her advantage. She should be able to find a chance to drop him off somewhere along the way. She decided to have faith that whatever it is on Xiao Jun that allows his presence to be hidden was strong enough to hide him from the wyvern. She should be able to lead the wyvern in another direction and preserve Xiao Jun'ers life.

She held him a little tighter.

She really hated the idea of having to abandon him and simply trust that someone else would take care of him the way she did. This kid had treasures all over him. What would happen if he landed in the hands of someone greedy and cruel… even to a child.

She forced herself not to shiver in fear of the thought.

She looked at Chai Ying again. No matter what he couldn't fail. He had to beat the Wyvern. She really couldn't bear to have to make the choice to leave him behind and trust outsiders with her steam bun. She looked back at Xiao Jun. Unbearable…. It's unbearable.

Xiao Jun remained silent but took his elder sister advice and tried to get some rest.

Bai Mei Li continued to rock him while turning her attention back to Chai Ying. She was surprised and relieved to see that he had an ability to lock down such an enormous monster.

It appeared that her earlier plans and fears weren't even needed. She smiled a little.

Chai Ying was nearly finished with his hand seal when all of a sudden his earth shields were blown apart and Chai Ying was thrown back. The incredibly high voltage lightening strike that had just hit him disrupted his Qi flow and caused him to temporary lose his ability to control the earth, and coughed up a mouth full of blood.

Now surrounding that wyvern was a circular shield of pure lightening energy. It crackled and randomly struck out in the area around it. Hitting trees and the ground all around. The Wyverns rage was all laid bare.

The wyvern didn't intend to waste anytime, it now understood that this human was a real threat to its life. If it didn't kill this human immediately it would surely die instead. It had never met such a dangerous human before. It was truly frightened at this point. It really wanted to end this fight as quickly as possible.

With that thought in it's mind the moment it was able to move it moved swiftly by slamming it's tail into his falling body. It's head that hadn't been knocked out had a triumphant grin on it's face that felt eerily human. Animals usually couldn't express that much emotion in a look.

Chai Ying hadn't had the chance to recover from taking the hit from that surprise bolt of concentrated lightening before he was immediately hit with the wyverns tail. The tail slammed into him without any mercy at all. It felt like he had literally been hit with a mountain.

This time he hit the ground instead of the side of a mountain. The ground cracked wide open and the split nearly made made it Bai Mei Li. The other splits stretched out in three other different directions.

The impact was so large that the ground beneath even Bai Mei Li shook. She held tighter to Xiao Jun. She was utterly shocked. She couldn't believe that things had actually taken such a quick turn. She'd thought that the fight was pretty much over. It had truly looked like he was just wrapping thing up, she hadn't expected the wyvern to have such an ability. This over sized snake was very intelligent. The combat skills it was exhibiting felt more like cultivator to cultivator rather than human to beast.

Her heart was pounding rapidly in her chest. She held on Xiao Jun more tightly. He fallen asleep now. The child had just been too scared, she was happy that her presence was enough to relieve him enough to sleep.

'He wasn't down for good right?'

'This wasn't it right?'

Would she have to leave Xiao Jun alone? No! She didn't want too. He was just a baby, how could he survive without her. How could she trust outsiders to always have his best interests at heart? Wouldn't they abuse him for his treasures.

She finally felt real panic. It didn't matter that she'd only known the child for under a month. She fed him, bathed him, and entertained him for half a month. He was such a obedient child who always did as he was told. They had bonded and she couldn't love him anymore if he were her own child. How could she not be panicking over his future without her care.

'His brother!' She thought suddenly. Was there a way to contact him? She suddenly looked at Xiao Jun cursing herself. Why hadn't she asked more question? She'd been way too confident. She really regretted it now. How could she not ask at least some more questions about his background. She'd given herself no way out. How crazy was that.

She was looking at the child in her arms trying to decide if she was should wake him up and question him now while she at least had some time.

'No I have to calm down' she said to herself. She couldn't panic right now. Xiao Jun needed to her make clear headed decisions on his behalf.

What was the point of thinking about his brother now. If Xiao Jun had a way to contact him of course he would of. Besides he said that his brother would certainly be able to find him. All he had to do was stay alive. That was what Xiao Jun had said.

She closed her eyes took a deep breath and thought it through.

Even if Xiao Jun had to suffer a little bit she would have to have faith that his elder brother would find him and avenge all his grievances. Her responsibility right now was to keep him a live.

She watched Chai Ying get slammed again and again by the wyvern. Her eyes narrowed as she came to a decision.

She held tightly to Xiao and darted off. No matter what she had to get him to a safe place. He was a child after all... Even if all the adults died that child should survive. He was her top priority right now.

Chai Ying was basically being treated like a punching bag and it was seriously pissing him off. He was only slightly caught off guard and this damned beast was actually so daring as to take advantage of it.

These hits were nothin to laugh at either. Each one felt like a mountain was slamming into him and trying to crush him into nothing. If it weren't for his high cultivation and thick earth Qi he'd be meat paste right about now.

Suddenly his brows furrowed slightly as he felt Bai Mei Li speed off. He'd been paying attention to the two of the them this entire time. They were his charges after all. No matter how much fun he was having he wasn't going to let anything happen to him.

That woman had appeared as though she was a person of character. He couldn't believe that he'd actually miss judged her so much. He wasn't angry, she did have a child with her. He was just little disappointed that she hadn't met his expectations.

He wasn't laying there for nothing. He was gathering earth Qi. The wyvern was furious and was letting all it's rage out in these attacks. He was being protected by his earth Qi this was a perfect time to gather the natural earth Qi beneath him. He had a rather glorious surprise in store for the wyvern.

After slamming it's tail into the damned human a bunch of time the Wyvern had let off a lot of steam. It's other head for also mostly healed. It figured this was a good time to finish things. That damned human haven't even taught back. The human was likely dead or very close to being dead. It was extremely happy with that thought. This damned human had caused it a considerable amount of trouble. It was now ready to deliver the killing blow.

It opened it's mouth a ball of condensed lightening began to form. After a minute of preparation it let it loose, aiming straight for the unmoving Chai Ying.

Just as it was about to hit a shadow suddenly appeared in front of Chai Ying with a Ice Staff.

Bai Mei Li injected nearly every bit of ice Qi she had into the life saving treasure that the sect had given to the other Bai Mei Li. Suddenly a the rune on the ice staff glowed brightly and an extremely thick ice shield expanded It was infused with the core Qi of a essence core realm master. That was a sixth realm power house. The shield was a solid and extremely firm.

Just as she finished the blast hit and shook the shield violently.

Bai Mei Li was panting now. She'd used the few drops of core Qi she'd managed to condense, and her body felt completely drained of all vitality. She had nothing left. She'd dug the staff into the ground and now she was leaning on it.

Gasping for air she looked around assuring herself that they were properly locked in. With no more energy to maintain her consciousness she passed out, secure in the knowledge that she'd hid Xiao Jun well and that this shield should last long enough for Chai Ying to wake up and recover.

Just as she was about to hit the ground a pair of arms caught her.

With a complicated look in his eyes Chai Ying laid her gently down on the ground. He looked at the shield and sighed. It appeared that he'd played too long.
