Zero sat crossed-feet on the ground as he checks his stats.

It's already been two hours since he had started killing them off for level - and his guess was that he had already killed at least 30 of them. At level five, he would need to move to other monsters, but he figured that it would be difficult for him since he still lacks experience.

He has knowledge of almost all monsters, but he still lacks the capability of fighting them for real. That was why he is keeping himself to killing off slimes until now. But -

[ Hmm... It's starting to get harder to gain level just from killing these slimes... I already have one spell... I should move to a different target, but... ]

He looked at the two items Gerald, the shopkeeper had given him -

His pouch is almost already completely full of slime cores that there's only barely any space left, and his sword is starting to have cracks on its blade.

He could continue gaining level with slimes, but the level he gains from it is now only barely enough to level him up. And he could also choose to move to another monster, but he figured it would be too dangerous with his weapon and he also needs to try out his magic first too before he could use it.

[ I guess this would be enough for now... ] he said as he stood up.

He put his weapon to its sheath on his waist and looks to the direction where he came from and walk back towards it.

~~~
Zero is now back inside the town and is now looking for the guild.
He was greeted by the same guards earlier, and he had asked them for its direction:
"You'll find it easily. It's in the middle of the town. It looks the same as any other guilds in the other towns" - is what they told him.
They didn't really tell him what it looks like, but he at least has an idea what it looks like on his head.
And because of that, it didn't take him long to find where it is.
And now, he's standing in front of it - a large structure that is very different than any buildings he had seen so far inside the city. But definitely, it looks almost completely the same as what he had imagined it would turn out to be. The only thing that he wasn't expecting was the large crest on its roof - which is probably its symbol - of the guild.
He could see some adventurers like him entering inside it, but there was barely anyone who was going out.
And so - without thinking much about anything, Zero entered inside. He walked inside the two open doors and the view of the guild was revealed to him.
The sound of people talking with each other filled the large room. There were many tables inside, where people that are most probably adventurers are sitting, drinking, and having a meal at. Every one of them is dressed in armor, both heavy and light, and all of them completely have a weapon of their own.
[ Hahaha! You heard that right! ]
[ Hey, what should we take for now? ]
[ Hmm... Is that guy new...? ]
He can clearly hear them as they talk. Some are busy and are just ignoring him, and there were also some that have their attention on him.
But nevertheless, he ignored all of them and continued to move ahead towards the receptionist on the edge of the room.
[ Good morning... umm... are you here to register as an adventurer...? ] as soon as he arrived in front of the receptionists' desk, a receptionist asked him.
She was a woman at least in her 20's with short hair. There is nothing in particular that stands out about her, except the uniform she's neatly wearing.
[ Yes, umm, are there any requirements? ]
[ There is nothing in particular... Anyone who is above 10 years old can register. But... You need to have at least some experience... ]
[ Oh? Is that so? Experience, huh? Then, I guess, would this be enough to prove I have? ]
Zero took out all the cores he collected from the slimes and showed it to the receptionist. And as he did, the receptionist showed a surprised look on her face.
[ These are all... ]
[ Right, slime cores. I collected them outside the town. ] he said before the receptionist could finish.
[ U-Un... But for this many...? ]
Zero had counted the cores earlier and it totals to 36. He doesn't really care how many he should get, but he needed to collect many of them to gain levels. This many would be a normal amount to get inside the game, but now that he thought about it, it might be a little bit different this time. After all, he did had a hard time collecting them - in which he would never if he was still in a game.
[ Is there any problem? ] he asked the baffled-looking receptionist.
[ A-Ah, no, there isn't... It is just that... There really never any adventurers here who had collected slime cores as many as you did right now... it's a bit of a surprise... ]
[ Oh... Well, this is actually all I can do for now... ] hesitantly, he answered.
( I guess this made it look like I can only hunt down slimes... This is bad... I'll just go ignore them for now... ) he glanced over to the people behind and saw some that have huge sneers on their faces.
[ Umm... But, this is actually good since we're lacking materials like this now. ] her words immediately lit up his face.
[ Then, I guess this would be enough proof for your experience... Umm... Honestly, they may be just slimes, but they're still a bit hard to collect... by the way, will you be selling all of these? ]
[ Ah, yes. ]
[ Then, you're already above 10, right? May I ask what your name is? ]
[ It's Zero. ]
[ Zero...? What a weird name... ] she whispers the last part as she looks down on a piece of paper and wrote something - which is probably his name.
[ So, Zero-san, can you please wait here and we will give you your coins and your adventurer card both at the same time. ]
[ Okay. ]
She rushed away as he answers, and he was left there alone, basking in the stares of some of the adventurers.
~~~

A few minutes had passed and the receptionist came back.

She now has two items on both of her hands: one is a small coin pouch and the other is a card. She both held them out to Zero and explained:

[ Here is the total amount for the cores, and here is your adventurer card. You're now registered as a copper(III) adventurer. For now, you can only take tasks fitting with your rank. ]

Zero took the coin pouch first and put it inside his pouch, and he took the card after. He looks at it, and there - written was his name, "Zero". And just like its name, the card was made of copper.

( I didn't expect it would be that easy... ) he thought as he holds the card in his hand.

[ Thank you very much. ] like what he did to the coin pouch, he stored the card inside the larger pouch that was given to him by Gerald.

[ Un, I expect you will do good. ] the receptionist smiled at him.
