Chapter 1 - Ch. 1 FlashBack

As the ocean tides smashed into the harbor the Council sat in there meeting hall waiting for the storm to end. There was not a single person who was willing to save the harbor. Nobody cared about the people who lived there, since the majority was poor. A little girl age 7 looks out her window watching the storm. She turns to her mother who was frantically packing. "Mommy? What's the matter?" She said as she watched her mother pull out a suit case in anger. She waited for an answer. She got none, and she never did. Her mother went into the child's room grabbing a small coat. The mother slipped the coat on the child and out they went into the frozen rain. The mother walked to the harbor towards a small row boat. Lifting her child into it she handed her a small basket. A basket of crystals. Not expensive or even pretty. But these crystals were Magick. An offering of sorts. The mother didn't bother to hand her child an oar. She untied the boat letting the child to drift away into the storm. The child cried and looked about her. She wondered why her mother left her. And where she was going. Her mother loved her and they were the happiest together. Why on earth would she leave. The rain started to become violent and the waves rose dangerously high. The poor child sat there waiting for it to be over. She was scared and mumbled to herself a phrase, a phrase her mother had whispered into her ear every night. "I stand in a circle of light that none shall cross. From the east to the west, from the north to the south. I stand in a circle of light that none shall cross." With every time the child said it she felt her body fill with warmth and felt her fear drift away. She felt power within these words. So she said them again and again until the sky was blue and the ocean was calm. The sun was shining and the air had a soft sweet warm sent. The sea was a deep greenish blue so clear she wondered if she could she the bottom. The child looked around her in amazement. The world around her had never been so beautiful before. The tides the world made her feel so happy. That was until she saw it. As she was looking up at the beautiful sky she say a figure. A beautiful blue scaly creature. She felt it's presence and felt strength flow through her. The child held on to this strength until one night when she had seen a light. She called out hoping to be rescued and rescued she was. It was a boat. A fishing boat. The man saw the child stranded and pulled his boat near hers. "You need a ride little lady?" The man said as he tipped his hat in greeting. The child nodded and he pulled her up onto his boat.
