"Beep! Beep!" The loud blaring of the alarm clock woke Roman up from his sleep. As he got up he looked around and suddenly remember that he was in a new house. He got dressed and walked downstairs to get breakfast. When he walked into the kitchen he saw his dad cooking eggs on the stove.
"How are you doing champ?" Roman's dad said as he gave Roman a hug.
"A little tired" Roman replied. He sat down and started eating the eggs. After a minute Roman grabbed his backpack and walked out the door. "See you tonight dad" Roman said as he closed the door. He walked out into the bright day. When he got to the new school his stomach sank. There was graffiti all over the walls, the people hanging outside looked shady, and there was a huge amount of litter on the ground. 'Is this really a school?' Roman thought. As Roman walked into the school he drew a lot of gazes and stares. When he got to the principal's office he knocked on the door.
"Come in" said a gruff voice from behind the door. Roman opened the door and walked into a dimly lit room.
"Hello I am Roman Woods. I transferred to this school today." Roman told the Principal. The principal looked up at Roman. The principal had a large scar running from his temple down his cheek to his jaw. He was tall, about six foot five inches, and he looked menacing.
"So you are the new transfer. Do you know how to fight?" the principal asked Roman. "Cause at this school everyone fights. That is how you survive. Your grade also depends on your fighting ability." The principal explained.
"What?!" Roman exclaimed loudly. "What do you mean my grade depends on my fighting ability?"
"At the end of the year there is a fighting tournament that determines your final grade for the year. If you do well in the tournament or impress the teachers you will pass. If you don't do well you fail. Simple as that." The principal explained to Roman. "Now your class is in room 209. First period already started. Don't worry there is no penalty for being late to class. Hell you don't even have to show up to school until the final tournament. Good luck and have fun. Oh and one more thing, if you kill anyone in my school I will hunt you like a dog and I will make your life a living hell." The principal glared at Roman. Suddenly Roman got shivers and backed a step up. 'This principal is scary' he thought.
"Thanks principal!" Roman yelled while quickly running out of the room. He worked his way around the school until he found room 209. "Here it is" Roman mumbled to himself. He opened the door and slowly walked into the room. Roman saw a few strange looking people sitting at the desks. Many of them were not paying attention to the teacher. The teacher, a middle aged man, looked over at Roman. "You must be the new transfer student. Welcome to the class. Take a seat over there" he said while pointing at an empty desk near the front. Roman quickly sat down without even telling the class his name. The teacher started talking about the history of the French Revolution but not many people seemed to care. This didn't stop the teacher because he kept talking about the Revolution for about an hour.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed Roman and as he turned around and fist hit him in the jaw. "You think you can just waltz in here and not even acknowledge the people in the room? You are going to get what you deserve" said a voice full of malice.
