Chapter 10 - Need for Flight

Zhao Yao sweated profusely in the cave, looking at his savior in front of him.

'This guy is a Monster.'

'No, I shouldn't think anything bad about him. He may be reading my thoughts.'

Zhao Yao tried to get his thoughts together while his mighty savior ate.

His situation was a mess. If someone wrote a story like this, he wanted to yell. "Damn you."

He wrote cliches because they are so simple to understand.

'Hmm.'

Zhao Yao entered into his plot thinking mode.

'There was this crippled guy in a typical clan. When he died somehow, I from Earth took over. Even though it looked like transmigration, but it isn't because he was my reincarnation.'

Zhao Yao tapped his temple with his fingers.

'There are instances in Earth where people remember their past life and people who claimed they came with future memories.

So, according to this cultivator, I am in such a situation.'

'Reverse reincarnation. Is that it?' Zhao Yao, although a writer, couldn't remember what it meant exactly. But, he thought it sounded well with his situation.

Then, there was another thing that he was the reincarnation of the Zhao Ancestor.

'That literally makes me the father of the people who harmed me and even the father of myself. The heck.'

But, it could come advantageous to him, and there was a possibility that he may get some great ability. The Zhao Ancestor was a legendary figure in his new memories.

He wanted to believe it, but he was skeptical. The issue was, it was this bizarre cultivator who told him that.

'He is...' Zhao Yao paused and looked at his savior who was concentrating on cooking the second leg after finishing the first one. He still feared his thoughts seen through. But he got his own ways.

'A sports car sailed through the sea...(He is, either an extremely powerful cultivator or he is an insane bluffer.)...A yacht ran through a red light and got a speeding ticket.'

By thinking about irrelevant nonsensical things, Zhao Yao tried to mask his actual thoughts about the cultivator.

He found it hard to believe. He claims that he knows the Founder Ancestor, but that makes him more than 500,000 years old. That's insane.

Based on his 'new' memories, even strong cultivators won't make it past 10,000 years unless...they became Martial God.

Martial Gods were mysteries to the general public, so seeing someone who claimed to live for over 500,000 years made it hard for him to believe.

In his novels, he had characters that lived that long. But by that time, they will be living in a Celestial Palace ruling the entire Universe, not going around saving mortals like him.

Still, Zhao Yao had to admit that he was a strong cultivator.

"Senior, how should I address you?" Zhao Yao asked.

"Oh. I have different names. Since we are on the East continent, you can call me Immortal Lu." Immortal Lu answered without losing focus on his roasting.

"Immortal?" Zhao Yao's eyes widened. "Are you a Martial God?"

"What is that?" Immortal Lu asked with his eyebrows raised. "Never heard that before."

'I jumped from Burj Khalifa and touched the moon. (Is he serious? What kind of cultivator is he without knowing that realm?) In the year 2200, I bought the entire Pluto with 1000 liters of water.'

Zhao Yao exhaled in perplexion.

"So, what realm are you?"

"Didn't I tell you? Immortal realm." Immortal Lu shrugged.

Zhao Yao turned silent. From what he can remember, the entire Eastern Continent classified cultivation to 3 foundation realms and 3 Martial realms. The cultivator who surpassed these realms and achieved immortality was known as the Martial God.

His savior, Immortal Lu, must be from some other land. Still, it confused him. Why was Immortal Lu ignorant about Martial God even after coming all the way to the Zhao clan, which was located at the end of the Eastern Continent?

As a mortal person without a shred of cultivation, Zhao Yao had no way to identify Immortal Lu's cultivation realm.

"So, Immortal Lu. Where are we?"

"Go, find it yourself." The second Beast leg was almost fully cooked, and Immortal Lu didn't want to lose focus.

Zhao Yao got up and walked towards the entrance of the cave. The path to the entrance narrowed and slanted upwards as he moved forward.

The further he moved away from Immortal Lu, he became more relaxed.

'I guess, I am afraid of my mind seen through.'

Zhao Yao knew that he was getting too paranoid about the mind-reading, but lived his life like that. He had to live alone and survive in a tough world.

The entrance wasn't too far from where they sat. He saw the rays of light and reached for it.

Zhao Yao had to close his eyes to adjust his vision. He took a step forward, standing with his hands spread, facing the cold wind that gave him a refreshing feel.

He couldn't help but smile.

'Maybe this wasn't bad at all. It's this kind of adventure I always wished for.'

He slowly opened his eyes for a world full of adventure.

"HOLY MOLLY."

Zhao Yao got scared shitless. There was no ground in front of him. It felt like an endless bottom that will you an easy pass to the afterlife.

He easily recognized where he was, the Hell cliff. The same cliff the original body owner jumped to commit suicide. He can recollect his 'new' memories very fast now.

The endless green dots below was definitely the Grand Demon Forest.

'So this cliff had a cave-like this?'

He saw the sun just above the horizon on his right side.

His Ancient Zhao clan was located near FuXi town province, at the eastern end of the continent. The Hell cliffs faced the north and sun, just like in Earth, rose from East.

So considering the position of the sun, it was morning. That meant he was unconscious for at least one whole night.

'Fuuuu."

Even though initially scared, Zhao Yao felt great after using some reasonings to find some answers all by himself.

He could only see a half sun from his position as the other half was hidden by the cliff. The orange rays made the sky very beautiful.

Zhao Yao's writer instincts kicked in and he felt the imagery symbolized his situation.

The rising sun was like him getting ready in this new world to have a new life, a new beginning, and a new adventure. The hidden half sun was like him and the old Zhao Yao. The one who lived above the cliff in the darkness was gone, the Zhao Yao from now on will be like the bright new sun.

Just like him standing one foot away from falling into the bottom, there was a big pit dug around him in the Zhao clan. He was already in a very shameful trap, and it will be very hard to get out of the pit and clear his name.

'That felt nice.'

He can't walk out of this. There was no way someone can climb the cliff to reach this cave. He needed to fly out to escape from this.

'Zhao Yao, you are so stupid.'

From the moment he woke till now, he was seeing things very skeptical. Even the one who saved him, Immortal Lu, made him afraid.

As his mind got cleared, Zhao Yao realized how stupid he was. Immortal Lu was his help.

As an author who wrote stories like this a lot, he felt ashamed that it took him this long to figure it out.

Zhao Yao was somehow connected to Immortal Lu by some sort of fate. Otherwise, he wouldn't be saved by him.

They had to fly. He had to get his help to escape from his predicaments.

In all cultivation novels, it was a must to give the Main character a cheat. Be it a treasure, system, AI, superior cultivation technique or a master, the main character gets one to help him grow.

Zhao Yao wasn't sure of his purpose of coming to this world. He didn't want to believe that he was here to be a hero. But meeting an elder this early by a life-saving coincidence was not simple.

Immortal Lu was his key, his key to fly high.

Immortal Lu flew to this cave while carrying him and the hunted beasts which confirmed to Zhao Yao that he was at least a Martial Lord. According to his memories, only cultivators breaking through Martial Realms could fly.

He may be bizarre, showing kindness instead of arrogance, saying things that were hard to believe, and feels more like a bluff. But, he sure was powerful.

And, strong cultivators have their own quirkiness.

Zhao Yao didn't know the story behind Immortal Lu, and he expected it to be along the lines of the usual Master cliche.

Whether Immortal Lu was a weakened Martial God who was on the run or a High Martial realm hermit with an eccentric bluffing nature, didn't affect him.

If what Immortal Lu said was not bluff but the truth, then he was the best Master he could ever ask for.

After realizing his mistakes and rudeness towards Immortal Lu, Zhao Yao decided to walk back and apologize.

He walked inside the cave, feeling happier than the time he walked to the entrance.

"Immortal Lu..."

He was going to ask Immortal Lu to accept him as his disciple when he heard a very familiar cry that brought all his 'new' bad memories.

"Muuuuuaaaaaahhhhh"
