"I can and I will, Ilyan," Irene assured before he could weigh himself under the burden of guilt.
She could sense that despite her persistent attempts to let him know that she did not mind, he was getting himself bothered a little too much with the entire thing, and rightfully so. She did not doubt that he was into the situation and he analyzed it far better than she did.
She stifled a yawn, struggling to keep her eyes open. "Erm, Ilyan… do you mind if we talk later? I am actually -"
"Tired and sleepy…" He completed her sentence before she could.
She did not waste a moment getting surprised. By then, she was used to being impeccably understood by Ilyan.
"Good night, Irene," Ilyan whispered and disconnected the call. He heard a knock on his door and quickly got down from the bed.
He opened the door and found Christina in front of him. His eyes involuntarily looked over her shoulder.
