Ilyan's trance was broken by the ring of his phone that he was sure that he had dropped outside, in the living room. Least bothered about anything else at the moment, he made no attempt to get up to take the call.
He let it ring while he sat, clutching his mother's picture to his heart. After a few seconds when the phone stopped ringing, he stretched out his legs, pulling the frame a little away as his eyes brimmed again.
His phone rang again but the sound of it fell deaf to his numb ears. He sat unordered until it rang for the fifth time.
It was then he forced himself to rise on his feet. He carefully put the frame back in its place. He lingered his lips on his mother's figure in the photo frame before he walked out to attend to his phone.
