Chapter 33 - Memories 3

Their relationship progressed after that day.

The fear that her parents might catch her decreased, because she managed to visit him and they never found out.

This made her considered accepting his feelings and keeping it a secret. She feared that someone might hint them about it from her school, so they only get to meet at his house.

Making use of every opportunity to pay him a visit. When she was expected to be at the library, she would be at his place.

That was the only place she felt secured and it worked. They never found out.

Two people in love, being under the same roof all alone, could lead to a lot of things. They tried to resist, but the tension kept building up.

Out of respect, he tried so hard to not lay his hand on her, but she seems to want it. Their skin brushing made her blush, including unintentional hand holdings, when they tried to take the same thing at the same time.

They studied together and he even exposed his secrets to her. He was already known as president Smith, without even owning a corporation yet.

No wonder he and his brother were all alone in this world and did not have to worry about money.

Based on the project he was working on, he could become rich if it goes as he planned. She felt proud of him, proud to be his girlfriend.

She was the one who made the first advance and Smith couldn't help it. He wanted her as well, but didn't want to take advantage of the fact that she came to his place.

But of course, Laura was scared after the first time. Each time she heard her mother call her name, her heart would start racing wildly.

She avoided walking in front of them, because it felt like they would find out. But days rolled by and months went by, without any issues.

The second time wasn't as bad, because she felt more at ease. They slowly got so free and fearless. They made promises to each other.

They will never part ways. They would build their future together and Smith who has been her first man, would be her last.

...

Laura stared at her father with tears filled eyes and didn't say anything.

The man saw the smile that crept up to her face, when Harry delivered the message from Smith, which was why he slapped her.

She dared to smile, after everything that happened.

With that raging feeling, he let out a sharp breath. "You're nothing but an empty barrel right now and you seemed to like it, since you got his message right?" Her father asked and Laura's eyes widened in shock.

"Dad, no!" She said, knowing what was coming. "I love him and he feels the same…." Another slap made her shut her mouth, before the nurse incharge, happened to saw the scene and dashed towards them.

"Excuse me, sir. She's not in the best condition right now." The woman tried to sound polite, but there was fury in her gaze.

How could he be so cruel and hit her, when she was still looking so pale, due to blood loss.

Her eyes darted to look at Laura's mother. The woman looked nonchalant. She doesn't seem to care.

That's when Laura's father broke the news on her. He doesn't want to see her anymore. He threatened to kill her and wouldn't mind getting imprisoned, from murdering her.

Her mother gave her a disappointed expression and both stepped out without looking back.

As soon as they left, Laura let out a deep breath, that she had no idea that she was holding.

She had no regrets, because she lived in fear in her house. She was always scared of not doing something right.

She would only regret her actions, if Smith tossed her away.

After feeling better, she was discharged and the first place she visited was Smith's place. She was lucky enough to meet Harry at home and was told that he was arrested.

She followed him to the police station and claimed that he was innocent. When they called Laura's parents, they screamed at the policeman and said that they don't want to hear anything about the case.

Since the said victim was doing fine and was even crying for his release, they had no choice than to grant bail.

…..

After hearing the news about Laura being disowned, Smith was shocked and started pleading with her, claiming it was his fault.

Laura said she wasn't affected, but doesn't have anywhere to go. She knew them so well. They would definitely hurt her, if she showed up at their door steps.

Smith asked her to stay at his place, while he went to apologize to her parents.

He returned with his forehead swollen, as Laura's father threw something at him. They also told him to have her to himself now.

They told him that there was no way they would accept an empty barrel. Since he loves her so much and felt that he was grown enough to take a wife, then he should just go ahead and marry her.

They said he had their blessings, but must make sure to stay out of their sight, or else he would regret it.

It was after their words that Smith learned that Laura might not be able to give birth any longer.

He realized that he messed up. He had just ruined her life, but would take responsibility.

When he asked her about it, she was just hyping over his wound and refused to talk about it.

But the fear in her eyes betrayed the strength she was trying to show.

He held her hands and vow to take care of her. He said she was his first woman and would be his last.

Laura asked about having kids and Smith said he doesn't want to have kids. He's fine as long as he has her.

She finally cried her heart out, but he promised her that he would always be there.

It felt like a joke, but Smith ended up paying the school fees for the three of them. Laura wasn't useless.

She made sure to help in every way that she could and found herself being like his assistant.

They worked, studied and lived their life. Laura felt like she could finally breathe.

She was happy, because he was always there for her. Unbeknownst to them, Harry heard their discussion, about not willing to have a child.

Seeing his brother's business progressing to the stage that they were able to move to a better house, he knew that he should make plans for his future.

Since Laura can't birth a child and his brother seems to be so in love, he felt that his own child would have everything that his brother owned.

He just had to make few inputs in his work and make him feel indebted to him.

The day they graduated was the day Smith took Laura to the small company that he recently started, without telling anyone of them and proposed to her.
