"Have you seen the boss, this morning?" Emma listened attentively as one of Max's men asked the head maid.
"No, I haven't." The maid replied and was dismissed.

She had been curious about where he was and was contemplating whether to go check his room or not.
This thought brought her out of her room, before overhearing the conversation.

Why is she so worried about him?
She had so much to do and had to prepare herself. The decision and actions she was planning to make would affect so many lives, but she wanted to be greedy for once.
She did not want to keep thinking extreme and suffering for those that don't even know her existence.
She has taken so many falls because of this in her world. They only had to beg and told her they have family to feed and other sentimental talks.
