Chapter 5 - Energy And Prayer

After eating breakfast, Yi Qiu came to a corner of the park. The usual types of green trees were planted here, with many oval-shaped fruits growing from them. However, as they couldn't be eaten, Yi Qiu didn't pay much attention to them.

Dragon Elephant Prajna Technique was an external cultivation technique. Yi Qiu felt like he was doing Yoga when he trained in it. When he was in university, Yi Qiu practiced yoga for a period. After he graduated, there wasn't that environment anymore when he was alone at home and became too lazy to train.

Yi Qiu followed the movements displayed in the book and did many weird looking stances. The book was sent into his brain through information streams, it was a more advanced method of storage compared to one's memory. It could let Yi Qiu accurately do all the described actions in the book. It could even allow him to adjust the postures to be a better fit based on his body's structure.

However, there were some problems with this model. For example, it didn't consider that Yi Qiu's body which was only physique 10 points was unable to perform some actions. Thus, after a crisp crack sound, Yi Qiu successfully twisted his back.

"Si." Yi Qiu felt that he was done, the intense pain forced him to lay on the ground.

"What can I do when I've twisted my back while doing morning exercise? Someone, please tell me the answer."

It was already slightly cold, but the air started to turn even colder. Yi Qiu laid on the slightly wet grass, he felt cold and painful.

At that moment Yi Qiu recalled in the class legacy of Monk, Ki could be used to heal. Class Legacy was something that Yi Qiu automatically obtained when he got the Monk class, among which included Monk's origin, development, meditation cultivation as well as class advancement and loads of random things. Simply put, it was an encyclopedia regarding the Monk class.

Ki was the source energy of a Monk. It was the essence of life and spirituality combined, it was the power that Monks obtained while meditating. It could let a Monk's fist be tougher than gold, it could allow Monks to heal up. It was pretty much an all-rounded thing.

5/5 Ki was a blurred concept to Yi Qiu. that was because he didn't know how much 1 unit of Ki was. The Monk Class Legacy didn't have too detailed records about this. When Yi Qiu tried to activate the Ki in his body, he felt a warm current flowing in his body. It started from the heart, where it passed there was a warm sensation, but it dissipated before it even got to the waist.

  Ki: 0/5

  Yi Qiu: ???

Although it didn't flow to the waist, Yi Qiu felt that the pain had lessened. This healing process was actually the Mixed Energy Body skill of the monk. Yi Qiu's Monk's level wasn't high enough to unlock that skill but he could still discover and use it on his own, although the effect wasn't much. After all, when skills appeared in one's stat interface it meant that you could instinctively use it. If one had to depend on oneself then that would be a huge waste of time and an unwise decision.

Ki's recovery speed was quite quick. When Yi Qiu used the trees to support him in the nearby chair, his Ki was full. He used his Ki once more and this time the pain was evidently much less.

"It is such a con." Yi Qiu held his back and thought about it in a depressed manner. Luckily, he exchanged for the Dragon Elephant Prajna Technique. As a basic and low requirement external cultivation technique, even if problems occurred, it was at most just him spraining his waist. It would be much more problematic if internal cultivation went wrong. One must know that even in real life, there were instances of Chinese people turning into vegetables due to them training qigong.

  ...

Yi Qiu cultivated all the way till noon. Although his stats didn't increase, his body felt like it was evidently changing. From his own estimation, he felt that he could raise his Physique to 10 with just a bit more training. Lunch was a big piece of braised boar tenderloin. Yi Qiu started braising it in the morning before he left. When he returned after training, he added pepper, star anise, cinnamon and stewed it for a while longer. When it was time to eat, the tenderloin was really tender. Although it lacked the chewy feeling, the tenderloin had absorbed all the juice and filled his mouth with deliciousness. He also was the one who sliced the tenderloin.

Big piece after big piece, it felt great just eating it.

"I would like to thank Fat G for not considering Chinese temple restrictions when designing Monks, if not I would not be able to drink, see beautiful legs, what fun would there be in life?" Yi Qiu ate the delicious tenderloin while talking to himself.

The Monk in DND didn't have forced restrictions to follow. Monk's weren't a righteous bunch in Faerun Continent. Evil or good was just a choice to a monk, not a necessity. Yi Qiu's Monk class came from DND. Although there were some changes due to the Integrated Network, a large portion of it was the same as DND's Monk.

After eating, Yi Qiu opened his bank app on his phone to take a look at his savings. Yi Qiu graduated in June this year. Close to half a year had passed but due to his low income, he had only earned 3,000 dollars till now.

As for savings, Yi Qiu was really passive. The money he didn't spend each month was his so-called savings. Before obtaining the Monk ability, he didn't think about the future. He would happily eat what he wanted while spectating the extraordinary work of other people in the virtual world.

However, now Yi Qiu had to consider his own savings, he had no time to earn cash from the game world. It was okay if he relied on the stipulated funds from the government but it would be a problem for him to buy weapons. Yi Qiu didn't want to spend the precious Integrated Network Coins to buy things that real money could buy. He also had to face the fact that he was just useless in real life.

In other words, how would a Monk earn money in real life?

  Move bricks?

Yi Qiu touched his bald head. To a small fish in the bottom layer of society, there were limited ways for him to earn money.

Thinking about it, he realized that there weren't any better ideas. Yi Qiu was prepared to open the box.

Old Treasure Box from the Brown Tooth Boar:

Origin: Pumpkin field ravaged by wild boars (Simple difficulty)

  Quality: White

Related phrase of the box: Boar

Description: From acorn loved by the Brown Tooth Boar to Agamagan's fang, all boar related items can be obtained from within... Of course maybe you need a bit of luck, moreover, the quality of items will not exceed the quality of the box.

However, there was a step before opening it. Yi Qiu took out his phone and clicked on a mobile game called Onmyoji. He started to draw cards.

"Prayer!" An invisible ripple spread out from the deaths of his veins. Yi Qiu heard an indescribable murmur, like a pair of eyes in deep sleep opening up, an ancient sleeping aura slowly appeared.

  "Free draw!"

"Congratulations player obtained R Grade Shikigami: Shouzu"

"It seems like it wasn't a +", Yi Qiu closed the game. The prayer effect would change after 1 minute and would last for 10 minutes. Yi Qiu felt that although he didn't know what the +1 and +2 effect would be, but getting an R Grade card definitely meant that his luck didn't increase.

  "Free draw!"

"Congratulations player obtained R Grade Shikigami: Yamausagi."

  ...

"Congratulations player for obtaining SR Grade Shikigami: Ubume."

After 5 minutes, Yi Qiu finally had an SR. Thinking about it, he didn't open the box right away, choosing to draw 2 more times.

"Congratulations player for obtaining SR Grade Shikigami: Enenra."

"Congratulations player for obtaining SR Grade Shikigami: Kuro Mujou

Another 2 SR in a row. It probably wasn't Luck +2 but Yi Qiu was afraid that it would get lower. Thus he chose to open the box...

"Ceng" as the box opened, a pale white light shot in.

  "Congratulations you have obtained..."
