Chereads / The First Mage / Chapter 64 - Chapter 63

Chapter 64 - Chapter 63

In the underground facility.

"It seems that the place is dangerous. From what they scanned. That thing is really a snake. But it has DNA that doesn't exist on earth. It could breathe poison gas. Those arms…"

"We know. Professor. What should we do?"

"Let them explore. We just have to get everything we could."

"Yes."

What is this planet? Just how dangerous is it?

"Professor! We had finished examining some of the plants they scanned. It has lots of similarities at the plants here on earth."

"Then? What sets it apart from ours?"

"It is a much better version of ours. Those plants could live, grow ten times more and bigger than here on earth. And if we could create products from them. Even the worst of those plants is highly valuable. But those are just the scans. It could be even better when they arrived back."

"Yes. That is good. But that is not what we truly wanted."

"Then? What is it?"

"We should be able to find intelligent life on that planet."

"Humans…"

"How long can the portal be opened again?"

"Just opening it for a minute depletes energy what a large city consumes in a day. So we might need a week before we could open it again. Also, it consumes extra energy per how big and many go through it.

"Alright then. It is necessary that we did not send a vehicle for them to ride. The portal might have malfunction halfway if we do."

Minutes after killing and scanner the monster. They are finally out of the forest. Which is a vast green plain.

"Wah! We're out!"

"Command center. Where should we go next?"

"Please stand by. The thermal cameras on the drones are detecting something."

"Alright."

After a few whiles.

"One of the drones had been shot down!"

"What!?"

"Please be careful! We're looking for what did it!"

Everyone readies their rifles for when a hostile creature gets near them.

They really are good soldiers as they thoroughly check every direction with all of them covering for each other.

"Come…"

One of the soldiers taunted.

Suddenly. A person slowly goes out from a nearby tall bush.

He then raised his hand as if surrendering or telling he won't fight.

"Who are you lot?"

"A human?"

A scientist said out of shock on the other line.

"I am asking. Who are you!?"

"Guys? Is this real that we can understand him?"

"Yes. Captain?"

"Let me handle this. We are. Newcomers on this land. We don't wish for a fight."

"What are those things?"

"These?"

"Yes."

"These are rifles."

"Weapons?"

"Y, yes…"

"Captain Williams. This person has weapons and proper clothes like that of a person in the medieval age. There are civilizations on this planet. Ask him if he could take you with him to his hometown."

"Yes… Please. We don't want a fight."

"I know. Then? What do you need here? This place is full of monsters. Did you come from inside the forest? You should be dead by now do you not know that?"

"What do you mean? We did not see anything inside. However, we fought a black snake with two arms is that a monster?"

"Yes. You should get out of here now."

"But… We don't know where we should go. As I said. We are newcomers on this land, thus we had no knowledge of where to go."

"Really? Are those metal birds from you?"

"Uh… Yes."

"Sorry. We shot one of them down."

"It's alright. But. How can we understand each other?"

"Captain. He's not speaking English. Right?"

"Yeah. He's not."

"Magic."

"What?"

"Omnilingualism a basic property of magic."

"What? Magic?"

"Captain Williams! Dig deeper into this magic he is talking about!"

"It's hard explaining it. We should get out of here first. I'll call our leader."

"Okay."

"Alright. Excuse me for a bit."

"…"

The person then vanishes quickly.

"What?"

After a while. The person came back bringing seven people with a total of eight of them now.

"Greetings. I am Taga. The leader of this ten-star adventurer party. The one you talked to earlier is Cerrio. May I know your name?"

A pretty muscular and handsome man asked them which seems to be in his twenties.

"Jake… Williams."

"What's wrong? You seemed not yourself. Are you nervous? About this giant axe?"

"Maybe… Uh… We are new to this land. We wanted to find civilizations here to commune with. We are lucky to see that humans actually are in here."

"What are your objectives on finding civilizations? Why do you want to commune with them? Are you colonists?

"We only wanted to communicate. We are not hostile."

"Really, huh? Well then. You could come with us. We are going back to our city. You're welcomed there."

"Really?"

"Yes. Let's go."

"Alright men. Let's go."

"May I ask what those things on your faces are? You also seemed to be carrying things."

"Uh... It's supplies. Rations and stuff. And these on our face is to protect us from inhaling poison or toxic gases.

"Hmm… I see. Let's get going. Your things and terminologies are weird. Somebody might be able to understand those in the city though."

"Yeah…"

The ground then started shaking.

"Earthquake!?"

"Captain Williams. We are detecting something big rising up!"

"What!?"

"Leader! Over there!"

"What the!? Ugh. Fine. Get ready!"

"Yes!"

"Look, Captain! A… Giant…"

"Scorpion!"

"Captain Williams! Get out of there now!"

"Yes!"

"Hey! Are you gonna fight that thing?"

One of the soldiers asked the adventurers.

"Of course. It's big money after all."

"Can you even damage that thing!?"

"Yeah. Just get out of here if you don't want to die yet!"

"Yes..."

The soldiers then quickly ran to go out of the area.

"Are they gonna fight it?"

"One of them said."

"Captain. Are they gonna be able to kill it?"

"This is a good thing actually. We may now know what kind of capabilities they had."

The team of eight adventurers then now fought the giant scorpion.
