Chereads / LONE SURVIVAL / Chapter 7 - Footsteps

Chapter 7 - Footsteps

Kuma is trying to fall asleep in his cave when he hears something strange from far away. At first, the sound is faint and distant, but it gradually grows louder and closer. Kuma sits up and listens, trying to identify the source of the noise.

"What is that?" Kuma thinks to himself, his heart racing with fear. "It sounds like some kind of monster."

As the sound gets louder, Kuma realizes that it is the footsteps of a huge monster. The ground around his cave starts to shake with each step of the creature, and Kuma is terrified. He huddles in the corner of his cave, not daring to move or make a sound.

"I can't believe this is happening," Kuma thinks to himself. "I need to find a way to get out of here and avoid the monster."

The monster continues to move closer and closer, and Kuma can hear its heavy breathing and the occasional snarl or growl. Suddenly, the creature lets out a huge howl, unlike anything Kuma has ever heard before. The sound is deep and guttural, like a giant elephant but with a distinct and eerie quality.

"Oh no, it's coming closer," Kuma thinks to himself, his hands shaking with fear. "What am I going to do?"

Kuma's cave is shaking with each step of the monster, and he is terrified. He closes his eyes and holds his breath, praying that the monster will pass by without noticing him. He knows that he must stay hidden and quiet if he wants to survive.

Suddenly, Kuma hears the sound of the monster attacking something. He hears the sound of a bear struggling to fight back, but it is no match for the huge monster. The bear's cries of pain fill the air, and Kuma can hear the monster killing it with ease. He is horrified and wishes he could do something to help, but he knows he is still far too weak to even pose a threat to this huge monster.

"I have to get out of here," Kuma thinks to himself. "I can't stay here and risk being attacked by the monster."

After what feels like hours, the sounds of the monster start to fade away. Kuma hesitantly opens his eyes and looks around, unsure if it is safe to leave his cave. He sees that the forest outside is quiet and still, and he slowly stands up and cautiously steps outside.

Kuma looks around, still wary of the monster. He sees no sign of the creature and breathes a sigh of relief

After the monster leaves, Kuma stays huddled in his cave for several hours, too afraid to move. He listens as the sounds of the monster fade away into the distance, until he can no longer hear it.

Eventually, Kuma musters up the courage to venture outside. He cautiously steps out of his cave and looks around, his heart pounding in his chest. He sees that the forest is quiet and still, with no sign of the monster anywhere.

As Kuma walks around, he sees the markings of the monster's footsteps on the ground. The footprints are huge, each one bigger than Kuma's entire body. He also sees the remains of the bear that the monster attacked, torn in half by a massive bite.

"Oh my god, that's disgusting," Kuma thinks to himself, feeling his stomach turn. Despite his revulsion, he knows that he must find food if he wants to survive. He approaches the bear remains and starts to search for any usable meat.

Kuma finds a whole leg of the bear that is still relatively intact. He takes it back to his cave and starts a fire to cook it. As he waits for the meat to cook, he can't help but think about how the monster must have torn the bear in half with ease.

"Beggars can't be choosers," Kuma thinks to himself, trying to rationalize his decision to eat the bear meat. "I need to eat to survive, even if it's not the most appetizing thing in the world."

Kuma decides to use his "Analyze" skill on the bear leg and foot. The game menu displays the following:

Analyze Output:

Bear's Leg

What was left of a strong bear that was mangled by an unknown beast. The meat is tough but still edible. The fur can be used to make clothing or blankets, and the bones can be used to make weapons.

Bear's Foot

The remains of a bear's foot, also mangled by the unknown beast. The claws are sharp and could be used as a weapon. The fur on the foot can also be used for clothing or blankets.

Kuma nods to himself, satisfied with the information he has obtained. He knows that he must make the most of the resources available to him in order to survive in the forest. He carefully gathers the bear's leg and foot, planning to use them for food, clothing, and weapons.

Kuma takes the bear's leg and foot and carefully starts to dismantle it. He uses his knife to slice through the tough skin and muscle, exposing the succulent meat underneath.

He builds a fire in his cave and carefully places the pieces of bear meat over the flames. As the meat cooks, the fat and juices start to sizzle and drip, filling the cave with the mouth-watering aroma of roasted meat.

Despite its initial appearance, the bear meat turns out to be surprisingly tender and flavorful. As Kuma chews, he can taste the rich, gamey flavor of the meat, with hints of smoke and char from the fire. The meat is marbled with fat, giving it a rich and satisfying texture.

Kuma savors every bite of the bear meat, feeling his energy and strength returning. He knows that he will need all of his strength and skills to survive in the forest and avoid the monster that lurks in the shadows.

As he eats the bear meat, Kuma is pleasantly surprised by its flavor. Despite being a bit tough, it tastes great and provides him with much-needed sustenance. He also has ideas for the leftover fur and bones from the bear, planning to use them to make weapons and tools for survival.

But all of that has to wait, as Kuma knows that he must escape from the monster as soon as possible. He can't risk staying in one place for too long, not with the monster roaming the forest.

After eating, Kuma starts to make plans. He knows that he can't stay in his current cave, not with the monster lurking nearby. He decides that he will have to move to a new location, far away from the monster's territory.

"I need to find a new place to call home," Kuma thinks to himself, his mind racing with ideas. "Somewhere safe, where I can hunt and gather food without worrying about the monster."

"I need to move fast," Kuma thinks to himself, his mind racing with fear and determination. "I can't let the monster catch me again. I have to survive."

With renewed energy and focus, Kuma starts to pack his belongings. He knows that the journey ahead will be difficult and dangerous, but he is determined to find a new home and avoid the monster at all costs.

"I won't give up," Kuma thinks to himself, his mind filled with determination and resolve. "I will survive, no matter what it takes."

As Kuma packs, he can't help but think about his past experiences in the forest. He remembers the time he caught a few mice and a Squabbit he managed to catch after setting a trap for it. He also recalls the time a fox stole his food and he manage to catch it with one of his traps eventually.

Kuma shudders as he remembers the time he almost got attacked by a Lion/Tiger like animal, with silver markings, he knew that he could've died then and there. He had fought off two wolves, but the bigger predator had nearly caught him. He had only barely managed to escape.

"I've been through so much already," Kuma thinks to himself, his mind racing with memories. "But I'm not giving up. I'll find a way to survive in this forest, no matter what it takes."

Kuma finishes packing and sets out into the forest, searching for a new place to call home. He knows that he needs to find a location that is safe and has a good supply of food and water. He considers heading north, where he has heard there might be plenty of rivers and streams.

"I'll be careful this time," Kuma thinks to himself, his determination unwavering. "I won't let that monster catch me here again. I'll find a new home and make a new life for myself in the forest."

As he leaves his cave, Kuma takes a moment to leave a mark on the wall. He uses the point of his crude spear to carve a message, warning any other travelers to stay away from the area. He hopes that someone will be able to read and understand what he has left behind.

"There is a giant elephant-like creature here," Kuma says out loud, his voice echoing off the cave walls. "Go away, as far as you can. You will get killed!"

With that, Kuma sets out into the forest, determined to find a new home and avoid the monster at all costs.
