Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The forest floor remained quiet yet loud in a way that made it seem alive. The sound of the grass gently thrumming against the trees would have been soothing after all of this. Yet, I could hear no life. But nor did I hear life in my original world except for the others around me. As in back at the institution we only heard one another. We were unable to hear even the sound of our walking. I looked down feeling a sense of ease at the fact I remained in the same clothing. Just a normal white T-shirt and jogging pants. Mysteriously enough the blood stains from being shot remained despite the wound being gone after a quick look at my shirt.

"You would think the blood would disappear too if the wound did..."Standing up I truly saw how big the trees were. Abnormally so. The trunks being bigger around then that of a car. The canopy of leaves allowed little to no sunlight. It seemed like eternal darkness. Or perhaps it could be night. I have no way of knowing.

"I'd rather walk in one direction then stay here and maybe get eaten.." The forest floor was void of any leaves just brown dirt weird enough. It was almost as if something was keeping everything from growing on the ground. If that were the case would the trees even be here? It finally dawned on me that it was night. I could no longer see one foot in front of the other. Perhaps I was to lost in thought to notice.

I continued walking thinking the worse that could happen is I'd run into a tree. Sweat trickled down my back as it felt as if I was no longer getting anywhere. As I went to finally sit down I heard the soft sound of something hitting water. The light tinkle of bells. I looked all around me and still I could not see where it came from. Feeling a renewed sense of hope I decided a few more feet wouldn't kill me. No pun intended of course~ And I'm glad I did walk just a little more for what lay in front of me was a pond. Perhaps even a lake. It looked to be shallow as it lay there calmly. The surface seemed to glow with a soft blue and green. Lillies laid atop it as soft ripples came from the center of it.

"Why don't you step in these beautiful waters of mine?" A melodic voice spoke sounding female in my ears.

"I have no way of knowing if this beautiful water is dangerous so I don't dare to step in it." I spoke my voice quiet not being scared but not wanting to frighten whatever or whoever it was.

"Your more cautious then the others. I like that. Yes these waters are indeed dangerous but I assure you I am not. Most Men would jump in here without a thought you know. That aside I promise you specifically no dangers if you step in here for I wish to speak to you in a less hearable tone for there are others." She/it spoke again.

"I think not. Thanks Though" I felt the sense that perhaps it was a trick and continued on my way.

"If you truly wish to leave then alright. But I Shall leave you with directions at least. continue heading east for another thirty minutes or so and you should hit the nearest town if you would call it that. When you feel more sure do come again" Her voice left fading away as I only nodded thinking she would know I acknowledged what she said. I decided to chance going forward. After all I did have nowhere else to go. She may have said to walk thirty minutes but to me it felt like a mere second as I saw latterns upon latterns glittering across the open space. Houses were similiar in size and seemed to be made of the same material as the trees. Where I came from we had cement this was so bizarre! I felt somewhere between excitement and fear looking at the people walking into there homes as the latterns began to go off. I slowly walked towards one of the homes.

"Stop! Who goes there?!" I froze, That didn't sound like a greeting.
