"Let's go to bed." Gemma said as she glanced toward Charles, who was obviously disappointed. They got into bad he faced away from her because he was still sulking. Gemma smiled at his childish behavior.
She wrapped her arm around him and began drawing circles on his chest with her fingers. Then she ran her fingers lightly down his arm in long strokes.
"What are you doing?" His voice was hoarse.
"Touching you. Is that okay?" She asked. He rolled onto his back and looked over at her.
"And do you like what you've found so far?" He asked.
"Mmm! Very much. I have always known you were handsome. You are also very strong." She said as she strummed her fingers over his pecs.
Suddenly, he grabbed her hand and pushed it further down until she was touching his manhood.
"Touch me there." He commanded. It wasn't long before he was moaning and grunting in pleasure. He finally found release and then turned to her, pulling her into his arms.
He hated to admit it, but the past few nights he'd spent in her company had been the most restful nights he experienced in a long time. There was something comforting and peaceful about having her in his arms. He hadn't had the nightmares those nights.
He dreaded the end of the week because she would go back to her home and his bed would be empty. And the nightmares would come back. He was fairly certain he couldn't convince her that sleeping beside him fell under her job description either!
"What? No good night kiss?" She teased him.
"What do you think?" He growled.
"I think if you don't kiss me, I'll kiss you." She giggled.
He grabbed her and kissed her in an urgent, deep, rough kiss. She responded in kind. It was a needy, gritty, wild kiss, with longing and desire. The sexual tension between them was palpable.
It occurred to him that he wanted this woman. He had never felt that way about any woman before. It did not make sense. He'd worked closely with other women and not once did he think of taking their interactions further than boss and subordinate. He'd met women who flirted harder than Gemma but he'd ignored them. Of course, he'd ignored Gemma too, at first. She had slowly worn him down with her persistence. He had met women who were more beautiful and better qualified to stand beside him and felt nothing.
It was more than that though. She was such a combination of things. Her innocence was enthralling. She was thick skinned though; no matter how sarcastic or harsh he was, she never backed down. Her sense of humor and sarcasm caught him by surprise often. She was sexy beyond belief and really didn't see it. She was so giving of herself. It would be easy for him with his selfish nature to take advantage of that, he realized. She loved him without fear of rejection. She was intelligent; he could discuss things work related with her as an equal. She probably already knew the inner workings of his company as well as he did. She came from an excellent family.
"I love you, Charles." Gemma's soft words invaded his thoughts. He felt himself growing tense. He swallowed hard.
"Gemma—" He started to say, but she placed a finger to his lips.
"It's okay. I know you don't love me yet. But love isn't given only if it's reciprocated. How I feel about you doesn't change because of your lack of feeling for me. I love you regardless." Gemma told him.
