Gemma had harbored feelings for Charles for several years. When she was eighteen and had just started college, she had gone to a bar with another girl from her dorm. The girl had picked up a man pretty quickly, leaving Gemma alone.
A man approached Gemma and propositioned her for sex. She refused outright but the man kept harassing her. When the man grabbed her breast she had splashed her drink in his face. He'd punched her.
The next thing she knew, another man came out of no where and beat the other man senseless. He then had gently helped her up and helped her get ice for her face. He then dropped her off at her dorm.
She learned later that the mystery man who helped her was Charles Wen. She was shocked because she'd always heard how cruel and ruthless he was. But the man who had held ice to her cheek and helped her home was nothing but gentle and considerate.
That was when she realized there was far more to Charles Wen than met the eye, and she was determined that the man who had been so kind was in there somewhere and She wanted to draw him out. She had followed everything about him after that, and when she graduated college she was determined to work for him and grow close to him. She was determined to break down his walls. She wasn't going anywhere.

Gemma was awakened by loud pounding on her door. She glanced at the clock by her bed. 2:00 AM. She stumbled out of bed and to her front door.
"Gemma! Gemma!" The familiar voice called.
It was President Wen. Why was he here? No sooner than she opened the door than he stumbled forward. She grabbed his arm and helped him regain his balance.
"President Wen, What's doing on? Weren't you just here in the middle of the night yesterday?" She asked.
"Drunk. So drunk." He mumbled. She didn't understand. If he was drunk, why hadn't he let his driver take him to his home? Why was he here?
"Crap, you're beautiful." He covered her lips in the sloppiest of kisses.
"Oh my gosh! Look, I'm the first to admit I want to kiss with you, but you reek of alcohol!" Gemma cried as she broke away from his lips.
He tried walking but kept stumbling.
"I thought you wanted me. Turns out you don't. Just like a woman. You don't want me." At first she thought he meant sex, but by the end of his last sentence he seemed almost childlike. Gemma thought fast.
"Of course I want you. Just, not like this." She whispered.
"No you don't! You left me! You never came back for me. Why did you leave, Mama?!" He was sobbing now, like a small child.
"Mama, please don't leave me again!" He begged.
"What you need now is sleep, and some sobriety soup. Unfortunately I don't have everything to make it.
She glanced at her sofa and realized it was too short and narrow for him. She'd have to take the sofa while he used the bed.
"Come on, let's get you in bed." She said as she helped him into her bedroom. She was able to help get in the bed but she made to move he grabbed her arm.
"Please mama! Please don't go!" He cried as he pulled on her arm. She landed on top of him in the bed. She quickly rolled to the other side. He pulled her back to him and sobbed into her neck.
"Charles, it's alright now. I won't leave you alone. I promise I won't let go, okay. Just go to sleep. Everything will be better in the morning."
