Chapter 34 - A Lotus Root (II)

Ji Mo overlooked one of the most important issues during the hunt this time, which was not arming himself with a weapon. However, given his 1,500 kilograms of force and his domineering Celestial Devil Power, ordinary demonic beasts could not get close to him. Even with his bare hands, Ji Mo could protect himself.

After walking for quite a distance without taking any breaks, Ji Mo finally came to a small lake. The lake was not very big, so the other end could be seen in a glance. The water was sparkling clearly.

Ji Mo took out the vessel and squatted by the lakeside to collect some water. All of sudden, he seemed to sense something. He felt that there was a floating light throbbing in his left eye. The presence of this floating light made him feel as though his left eye was able to see many things clearly. Although it was very vague, it felt intriguing.

"That's the effect of the Broken God's Eye! Can there be a spiritual medicine here?" His heart pounded wildly. He had fully refined the Qi movement from the fraction of the Broken God's Eye which Old Man Qingzhu had transferred into his left eye some time ago, merging it with his left eye. However, Ji Mo did not really grasp the Broken God's Eye, hence he had been working very hard to cultivate this visual technique.

Unfortunately, there was not the slightest result.

However, at this moment, the floating light in Ji Mo's left eye flickered, and the Broken God's Eye reacted. He immediately thought of the effect of the Broken God's Eye. Besides being able to copy the martial arts and divine power others exhibited, the Broken God's Eye could also see through everything and find spiritual items hidden in mountains and rivers.

Given Ji Mo's preliminary cultivation of the Broken God's Eye, looking for strange treasure aside, he could not even copy the divine power of others. Still, if he encountered rare treasures, it would be an opportunity to instigate a reaction out of the Broken God's Eye. At that point, that very sensation appeared.

'Broken God's Eye!' Ji Mo shouted in his heart. His left eye turned white at once, and the floating light flickering in his eyeball became more and more obvious, but he still could not see clearly.

In order for the Broken God's Eye to find spiritual items, it was necessary to cultivate it to the second tier. Therefore, Ji Mo could only perceive things vaguely for now.

'There's a spiritual medicine in this lake, and I'm pretty sure I'm spot-on!' Ji Mo's heart was burning with excitement. He looked around and made sure that there was no one. Then, he jumped into the lake with a large splash.

The lake was about ten meters deep and was not very big. Otherwise, if the spiritual medicine was buried deep underground, given Ji Mo's attainment of the Broken God's Eye, he would not have discovered the existence of the spiritual medicine.

In a single breath, Ji Mo dove to a depth of more than ten meters. Underwater, he used the Broken God's Eye once again. The pupil of his left eye turned white as a floating light sparkled in it. In the end, he came to a pile of rocks. Within a crack in the pile of rocks, Ji Mo saw a shiny portion of golden lotus root.

The lotus root was only partially exposed and it was flashing in gold. It was very extraordinary at a glance, and Ji Mo could clearly feel the exuberant spiritual energy that it emitted.

'Sure enough, there's spiritual medicine. Furthermore, it's at least a fourth-tier spiritual medicine, but the spiritual energy it contains is more abundant than ordinary fourth-tier spiritual medicine. Is it about to evolve into the fifth tier?'

Ji Mo was delighted. He knew that some spiritual medicines had growth value. For some spiritual medicines, if left unpicked after years of growth, may even grow into immortal grass.

He reached out and grabbed the lotus root, trying to pull it out of the crack carefully. However, he soon discovered that it seemed to be deeply rooted. Ji Mo gradually tugged even harder, but he feared that the lotus root would be damaged, so he did not know if he should use more or less strength.

"Hey!" Ji Mo grinned and came up with a better way. Using the weight of his entire body, he struck the huge stone with a punch. Even though he could not exert his maximum strength in the water, the stone was still crushed with a single blow, and he successfully obtained the lotus root.

The shiny golden lotus root measured half a meter long, and it was crystal clear. It seemed like there was a halo rippling within the lotus root. Holding it in his hands, Ji Mo could not seem to express the joy in his heart. He was really blessed because he did not expect to encounter spiritual medicine in such a deserted place.

Suddenly, Ji Mo felt something near the water.

When he turned back suddenly to look, he saw a huge jiaoyu wading through the water towards him. This jiaoyu was as large as a bull. Its body was covered in black scales and it had a pair of horns on its head. Although it was a fish, there were four small claws that were not very long protruding from its belly.

A jiaoyu was a demon that was half-beast and half-fish. Although its bloodline was not very powerful, it was still a mutant.

At that moment, the jiaoyu stared at Ji Mo and the golden lotus root in his hands with its red eyes. A dash of almost-human hatred was clearly visible in its eyes. The jiaoyu's nostrils emitted two streams of white gas and a string of water droplets formed in the water.

"Err..." Ji Mo was slightly surprised. He had long heard that most of the spiritual medicines growing outside the mountains were guarded by demonic beasts. Some spiritual medicines were discovered by the demonic beasts before they were formed. These demonic beasts would guard it to wait for the spiritual medicine to mature.

Now, he had come across such a case.

Roar!

The jiaoyu roared with its jaws wide open. Although it was in the water, its angry bellow was like a lion's. Two white streams of air gushed out of the jiaoyu's nostrils again as it flicked its huge tail violently in the water. Then, it rushed straight up to Ji Mo like a torpedo with its huge mouth ready to snap at him.

"Oh my god!" Without overthinking, Ji Mo immediately headed for the surface.

The jiaoyu was not weak. Its aura was stronger than the two purple giant wolves that Ji Mo had encountered before. Just its aura alone was enough to compare to some tempered body masters. At that point, Ji Mo knew he could not do anything to the jiaoyu while in the water, but if it came to the shore, then the tables could be turned.

Ji Mo waded through the water by exerting all of his strength in order to get out of the water as fast as he could, but the jiaoyu was chasing him closely from behind, and it let out a deafening roar like a lion again.

The ten seconds or so that he took to get out felt like an eternity. Ji Mo finally got out of the water, but while he was still in the water, the Celestial Devil Power burst out of him, pulling his body out of the water. He seemed like a Jiaolong coming out of the sea as he somersaulted in the air and landed firmly on the ground.

Boom!

Water splashed all over as the jiaoyu also rushed out. The four small paws under its belly squirmed and evolved into muscles, becoming extremely thick and powerful. It landed steadily on the ground. The jiaoyu had a peculiar bloodline since it was half-beast and half-fish. It actually belonged to the amphibian class, so Ji Mo was not surprised at all.

Clang!

Ji Mo pulled out the long sword that he had previously stabbed into the ground on the shore. A cold flash appeared on the long sword, fuelled by the Celestial Devil Power, and a violent burst of energy enveloped its shaft. The long sword buzzed lightly and a sword Qi faintly emerged.

"Do you want it?" Ji Mo shook the golden lotus root in his hand, then shoved it into his arms. At the same time, he hooked his finger towards the jiaoyu opposite him.

The jiaoyu roared so deafeningly that it could have shaken the branches in the forest. Then, with its huge body, it quickly rushed up to him. Despite its huge body, it could still travel at an unbelievable speed. The scales on its body that were closely overlapped were exceptionally hard, forming a kind of armor over it.

Ji Mo held the long sword in his hand tightly, standing calmly in his spot as he watched the wild jiaoyu rush to him without a trace of panic. Recently, he had been fighting demonic beasts every day, so his actual combat experience had become richer. He knew that panicking at this moment would only cause a mess. He stood still as he held the sword as if to say, "Your sword is my sword, and my sword is your sword."
