Chereads / Rebirth of Artemis / Chapter 14 - The Blue Coated Fellowship

Chapter 14 - The Blue Coated Fellowship

Terra's eyes cracked open. She looked up and saw the ceiling of an apartment room. It was hers.

Terra: …..What?

Terra got up and looked around. She checked around her room to make sure there was nobody around.

Terra: Did that really happen? Am I crazy?

???: No. The Chaste is really back.

Terra shrieked at the sight of Matt behind her.

Terra: Y'know there's this thing called privacy!

Matt: This is the one of many exceptions-

Terra: How did you even get in?!

Matt: ...The door? What do you mean how did I get in?

Terra: Isn't my door locked?

Matt: Not anymore. Don't worry. I wouldn't intrude if it was anything personal.

Terra: Yeah….I know.

Matt: But the Chaste is back in town. We need to be weary of them.

Terra: Yeah. Why do you think they're here?

Matt: I don't like to telegraph the bad news but likely to kill you.

Terra: Kill me?

Matt: Well when they have someone like you out there and telling people about the Chaste. They'd reveal themselves to the Hand.

Terra: Why wouldn't they be after you?

Matt: Good question. Maybe because I'm semi retired? But I wouldn't panic. You can still go out in public. Just keep your eyes peeled for any Chaste members. I will too. I doubt Stick would just forget about me.

Terra: He probably got more members since I left.

Matt: Likely. Just keep your eyes open for anyone shady.

Terra: I'll try.

Matt: There is someone I need you to meet though.

Terra: What? Why? I still feel woozy from whatever they shot me with…

Matt: It's for a good cause. They wanted to thank us.

Terra: Thank?

Matt: Yeah. We don't need to rush. We can take a taxi.

Terra sighed

Terra: Fine, I'll go.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Terra and Matt got into a taxi together.

Taxi Driver: Where too?

Matt: We'd like to go to this address.

Matt handed the Taxi Driver a card with an address on it.

Taxi Driver: Ohhhh, trying to be quiet about this. You got something to hide blind man?

Matt: I don't know what you mean. It's easier to give you the card. That's my doctor's address.

Taxi Driver: And the girl?

Matt: She's my doc's student. It's just more convenient this way.

Taxi Driver: Whatever you say blind man.

Terra whispered to Matt

Terra: That guy's kinda rude….

Matt: The cities all like that. You'll always find the one guy irritated by the hustle and bustle of city life.

Terra: Well then why do they live in the city?

Matt: Let's just say it's kind of like tough love.

Terra: What? That makes no sense…

Matt: You'll get it soon enough.

Taxi Driver: Here? This a crackhouse?

Matt: Hah. No. Thank you.

Taxi Driver: Here's your card back.

The Taxi Driver nonchalantly gave Matt his card back.

They got out of the cab and looked upon a run-down building.

Terra: Is this really a crackhouse?

The house was all white. The windows were spray painted white and the door was dented and rusted. There were some broken shingles on the house as well, It was packed in next to a bunch of other houses along it. Easily the most run down.

Matt: Would I really bring you to a crackhouse?

Matt and Terra came up the deck stairs and to the door.

Matt: Like I said. It's for a good cause.

Terra: Ooookay then.

Matt knocked on the rusted door. There was some chatter and a man opened the door. He was extremely short, He had long hair that went over his face and hid his forehead. He wore a blue sweatshirt and sweatpants. He looked at Terra and Matt for a second.

???: Ah! Matty! And you brought a friend. Here come in, come in.

Matt chuckled.

Matt: It's nice to see you again Donny.

Matt and Donny shook hands.

Donny: The folks here have been waiting a while to see ya!

Donny led the way to some undisclosed area.

Donny: I mean, no pressure but you were the spark for us! I see you brought another one of you guys. Ferra right?

Terra: Uh. No it's Terra.

Donny: Ah, my bad. I heard about your skills. We should spar someday!

Terra: I like the sound of that! It's been a while since I've sparred someone.

They walked through a house and into a backyard. There was a table and chairs. There were nine chairs around the table. Six of them were filled. All but one wore a blue coat. Donny lead Terra and Matt over to the table.

Donny: Okay. We owe this to you!

Donny handed Matt and Terra beers.

Terra: Um...Aren't I underage?

Matt: It's fine.

Terra: So ol' Matt isn't really THAT pure?

Matt: It's my treat. Only one though.

Donny: So. This is Oscar.

There was a muscular man with some sort of tattoo running from his neck up to his cheek. He had a skin tight shirt and had some loose fitting kakkis.

Oscar: Hey. I appreciate your justice.

Donny: This is Blue.

There was a man with a long red sword that he was cleaning while sipping on a beer. He had shoulder length hair and a heavy trenchcoat with fur around the hood. He had a shirt on with a popular band on it. The freezing cold slush puppies. He wore saggy sports pants.

Blue: You were the Devil of Hell's Kitchen? I like those odds.

Matt: Don't get too confident.

Donny: and this is-Hey! Harry get up!

An innocent man with dishevelled white hair looked at Donny. He had a light blue windbreaker on that was hanging off of him.

Harry: Hey! I was trying to sleep…

Donny: This is a celebration for the people that brought us together!

Harry: Thanks I guess.,,

Donny: Well that's Harry. He's lazy as shit.

Terra: Very oblivious.

Donny: You've got that right. Oh yeah and that's Leon.

A young man with black hair that faded into a go T and a white shirt that was tucked into some black cargo pants. He had a big red jacket on.

Leon: Hey guys. It's nice to finally meet you.

Matt: You weren't here last time.

Leon: I figured it was time to come out. Plus I'm Krilla's son.

Terra: You don't look anything like her though.

Leon: Quite preceptive. I'm actually her adopted son.

Terra: Ah. That makes sense.

Two women walked out of the house. One had some bright blue hair and wore a blue windbreaker with a black shirt under. She had some soft black pants that almost looked like pajama pants. The other was a familiar face.

Terra: Amala! You're here?!

Amala: Nice to see you again kid.

Donny: Amelia! You aren't wearing your blue jacket! We all dressed up for this shindig!

Amelia: Probably because you can't even put together a party right. You're such a slacker!

Terra: Don't they sound like siblings?

Leon: Yeah. Because they are.

Terra: That explains it.

Leon: Yeah. They lead this operation.

Terra: Really?

Amelia: Listen up everyone! You four people freed us from what would be a life-long captivity in slave sites. You have our thanks. That's why we've prepared this celebration for you. You deserve it. All of us but Leon are all part of a group called the Blue Coats. We are here to free more and more people from slave sites. It is great to have all of the people here together who sparked our flame.

Terra: I'm sorry to bud in but we have only three of the people who helped you guys. What about Krilla?

Donny: Since her uh, accident she has been out of it.

Terra: Oh yeah…

Leon: You wouldn't care much though would you?

Terra: What? Why would you say that?

Amelia: Hey! If you two wanna fuss then you can take it inside.

Terra and Leon shut up.

Leon got up and went inside. Terra wanted to stay and have a good time. But curiosity got the best of her.

Terra: Hey, do you think this was my fault?

Leon: You took her with you. It was YOUR choice. Now she's been out doing whatever the fuck.

Terra: What do you mean?

Leon: You don't need to know.

Terra: What happened to Krilla? Is she here?

Leon: You don't care so you shouldn't be asking!

Terra: Ugh. If you really wanna be difficult then I'll just go back outside. Maybe if you think this through you'll understand it was HER choice.

Leon: Hey! Te-

Terra walked outside. Everyone was spread out around the yard and was having a great time. There was throwback 90's music playing in the background.

Terra: Hey Donny! What about that sparring match?

Donny: Ah! Finally. I've been wanting to show you my skills! You're kinda a role model to me. I better not be dissapointed!

Matt: This will be interesting.

Amelia: Pfft. Their just kids,

Donny: We're TWINS!

Matt: So, which one of you is stronger, Amelia?

Amelia: Here watch this. Amala, want a drink?

Amala: I already have one.

Amelia: *sigh* just say you want one…

Amala: Sure, I want a drink.

Amelia blasted off and came back with a beer for Amala in a couple seconds.

Amala: A speedster? Cheater! You beat him with your pure speed.

Amelia: Well me and Donny are both running this but he takes a backseat while I take care of the important things,

Donny got into a boxing type fighting stance. Terra got into a regular martial arts fighting stance.

Terra: Come on! Show me whatcha-

Donny teleported out of sight of Terra.

Terra: -got…

He reappeared behind her and went for an elbow to the back of the neck. Terra was caught by surprise and was hit in the back. He kept teleporting around her more and more and throwing a combination of punches and kicks. Terra tried to keep up but was hit multiple times. She finally caught up to him and grabbed his leg when he threw a kick. She knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the stomach. He teleported away and went to kick her in the side. Terra dodged and pushed the kick away. Donny took this chance to throw a punch straight at Terra's face. Which she dodged and delivered a knee to his stomach. She pushed a discombobulated Donny off of her and did a hook kick right to his fragile face. He fell to the ground. Terra helped him up and smiled at him,

Terra: Good job!

Donny: Why are you telling me that first? You absolutely destroyed me!

Terra: Once I analyzed your pattern it just became second nature to me. Made you seem like you had the upper hand when in reality I was expecting that punch from a mile away,

Donny: ...god. I gotta work on my technique, You should train me one day, I only have one power and that's teleportation. I gotta make use. So I use it to its full potential. Too bad I couldn't teleport outta that godforsaken slave site,

Terra: Power dampening?

Donny: Yeah. But once you pressed that button it was free for all. But me and my sister's powers were great for helping people out. We even picked up members just by helping people out.

Terra: I do really like the setup you guys have got going on.

Donny: All the other sites ain't closed up though, That's why we'll take them out one by one if that's what it takes. These guys. Their good people.

Oscar: Here. Check this out.

Oscar had a sharpie and started drawing something on Harry's sleeping face.

Blue: That's so immature!

Oscar: So what? You wanna draw something don't you.

Blue: ...Ah why not.

Amala: They truly get along.

The group chattered among themselves the rest of the night. Leon stayed inside,

Leon: Maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on her

Krilla: You shouldn't have. I chose to go there on my own terms

Leon: Wh-

Krilla: You don't understand me. I lost my eye to the same madman I tried to kill years ago. I lived within a tribe called the Iroquis as a kid. If someone wronged someone then it's our job to find them and kill them. But Beck is dead. So I'll take care of the cause.

Leon: Then why don't we try and do some missions together?

Krilla: …

Leon: What do you think?

Krilla: I think we should go to sleep for the night. It's getting late,

Leon: Okay Mom. Love you.

Krilla: That didn't sound very genuine.

Leon: Well it was,

Leon went up the stairs and Krilla heard his door close. She sighed and heard something at the door. She jumped at first and grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and snuck over to the door. Krilla opened the door and was ready to strike. But nobody was there.

Krilla: I should get some sleep…

Krilla went back inside and she felt weak. She laid down on the worn carpet in the house, And immediately fell asleep.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Terra was walking home with Amala and Matt.

Terra: Did I mention that I saw Krilla?

Amala: She really is messed up from Beck, huh?

Terra: That's the thing. I know the feeling.

Matt: It's good to hear that. She really needs it.

Terra: Someone needs to stick it to Leon too. He's not helping his Mom the right way. He blames me for it too! Maybe I could find some time to help her…

Amala: Don't get too hasty.

Matt: Well. Thanks for coming out today Terra. I'll be seeing you guys later.

Amala: Hey Matt.

Matt: Yeah?

Amala: You really retired?

Matt: I'll say semi-retired. You need me, you get me.

Amala: Well. I'll see ya around guys.

Amala walked away from Terra. She continued on her way and got into her apartment.
