After crossing the Viridian forest John finally reached Viridian city and went straight away to the pokemon center. "Welcome to the pokemon center how may I help you". A sweet familiar voice greeted him. "Please check my pokemons Nurse Joy". "Sure, are you going to challenge the gym here ? The gym leader of Viridian city, Mr. Giovanni is one tough customer, it won't be wrong if I say he is one of the strongest gym leaders of Kanto region". Nurse Joy handed over the pokemons to Chansey for checkup. "Oh yes one more thing he mostly uses ground types so grass and water types will be handy" she winked at John, on her reaction he blushed a little. "Thanks alot Nurse Joy". After giving his pokemons for checkup, John went to one of the telephone booths in the pokemon center. "How are you son and how are your pokemons doing ?"
John:- "I'm fine dad, I have just reached Viridian city and handed over my pokemons for a regular checkup".
Andrew:- "Great!! you reached Viridian city a lot faster compared to most of the other trainers, they usually get lost in the dense forst. What pokemons did you see there and which ones you caught ? I have been longing to hear all about it!! Wait let me call your mom first or else she will be really angry if I did any further delay in telling her that you are on the call. Daisy!! its John".
Daisy:- "John!! how are you my son, how have you been ? Are you taking your meals on time and sleeping properly and how are your pokemons doing ?"
John:- "I'm doing great mom and yes I am taking my meals properly".
"Excuse me John your pokemons have been completely healed". "Right on time, mom-dad let me show you my pokemons". John sent out all his four pokemons, Pikachu, Horsea, Pidgeotto and Nidoran.
Daisy:- "Look at them all of them are so lovely and healthy". "All the pokemons were delighted on hearing that and they too greeted Daisy and Andrew.
John:- "Dad im going to challenge the Viridian city gym leader today, i'll be needing them today in the battle".
Andrew:- "Alright then I will call one of the Professor Oak's aid and ask him to take them to the lab. He will transport them to you then".
John:- "Thanks alot dad, I will go now, will have to work on my strategy for the battle. Take care mom and dad".
"You too take care son and all the best".
Meanwhile John was working on his strategy, he recieved a call from Professor Oak. "Hello there John how are you doing ?" Professor Oak greeted him with his known smile. "I am good professor, I am planning to challenge the Viridian city gym leader today". "Yes I had a chat with your dad and the pokemons you need are here and ready for transportation. I will send them right away". In a few moments two pokeballs appeared in front of John through pokemon transportation system. "Thanks professor they are here". "Good luck John", and professor hung up the phone. After receiving the pokemons John moved towards the gym, as he reached there he saw a familiar face coming out of the gym with a smile on his face. "Howdy John, it has been a while since our first battle". "Hi Glenn, so are you here for the gym battle as well ?"
Glenn:- "Yeah I just finished mine". Glenn showed his gym badge to John. "The gym leader sure is tough, all the best you will be needing it".
John:- "Congratulations and thanks, will see you later".
Glenn went ahead with a smile. Soon John entered inside the gym, a tall figure was standing on the dais and alongside of him was a man of almost the same height who was wearing black glasses. "So you are the new challenger it seems". "Yes, I am John from town Dacoast I would like to challenge you for a battle now if its alright". "It sure is, alright I accept your challenge". The person who was standing with Giovanni moved towards the stands and the refree took his position. "This is an official gym battle between Giovanni gym leader of Viridian city and John from town Dacoast. It will be a three on three battle, challenger is allowed to substitute his pokemons during the battle. If all the three pokemons of challenger or the gym leader are unable to fight, the battle will be over. Bring out your first pokemon!!" Giovanni sent out his first pokemon it was a Rhyhorn. Rhyhorn is a rhinoceros like pokemon with a body covered in gray, rocky plates. Its underside and rear are smooth, and it has four short legs with two claws on each foot. It has a triangular head with narrow, red eyes, two fangs protruding from its upper jaw, small, triangular openings on the upper sides, short horn on the tip of its snout. John also sent his pokemon which was a Breloom. Breloom is a dual type grass/fighting pokemon. It is a bipedal, mushroom like pokemon with some kangaroo like qualities. Most of its body is green, but its head to its neck and its tail are beige. On top of its head is a green, mushroom like cap with beige gills underneath and a round, red berry like growth with a hole in the middle on either side. It has oval, black eyes, a beak like mouth and frilled segments around the base of its neck. There are two claws on each of its hands and feet. At the end of its tail, there are seed clusters made of hardened toxic spores that are horrible to eat. "Let the battle begin!!"
