With one simple click, what was once a peaceful environment tended to turn into a chaotic mass of hurried steps and loud chatter. Otherwise known as the Sightings, a clock like device lays hanging on the wall with the numbers of new portals being found.
Yes, she did assume that peace would have lasted much longer than their new record of four days. What surprised her most, was that it happened on a day that tended to be known as a day of rest in both portal sightings and monster attacks. "Careful.."hushed voices move across the seventh floor of a nine story building, on this floor was where only the highest in ranking could be seen working. While the eighth floor held a work out station,as well as several pieces of equipment that was used against the beasts that haunted the world's terrains.
The top floor? it was said to hold the big bosses office, no one having access to it. At least that's what almost everyone there wants you to think, when in reality it is where their top ace..can be found napping with her office covered in snake skin.
"I said be careful.."whispers begin to snap the half awake brain into a fit of annoyance at the members who spoke and moved about in quickened paces. Their reasons behind warnings was thanks to that same top Ace, napping at one of the larger cubicles with her eyes covered only by the second lids. Ryu Fehn , a being who happened to be known as the snake queen among her fellow Co-workers..and an overall nightmare. It wasn't that she was rude or unfair, she just came off as very snappy when it came around late.
Today she had taken a longer nap than usual, her legs crossed while her slender yet curved frame could be seen pressed to the comfortable large black and red chair. Her subtle movements was what could bring eyes to her sleeping frame during each passing second.
Ryu was what most people called a demi-human(*), her body being a small percentage of human while the rest is consumed by the DNA of a more dominant species. Thanks to her being the only one inside the agency who wasn't human, she often had to listen to the new workers whispering monster breed beneath their breaths before being told what position so held in this agency. "They say even her own father can be found kneeling at her feet when she all but snaps her fingers." Ah, yes. The rumors she had grown to know so well.
Images in her mind swirl away from the offices sounds to dwell on memories from when she was walking around in disguise. What a pity she was when she first learned whats right and wrong with the world she calls home. The small girl was in society standards a freak of nature that should have never occurred. Even though rare, they where regarded as nothing but trash in the eyes of the modern folk. There was many a nights she could be found crying about the harsh words people sent in her direction, with only her snakes and her monster of a land at her to silence the sorrows that came with being inhuman.
A hiss of annoyance finds its way past her lightly parted cherry blossom colored lips, bringing the dozens of snakes laying across her body to a hissing match of their own at their masters displeased noises. It wasn't until she felt the warm flickers of their tongues against her white satin skin that the annoyance was quelled and replaced by peace again. Silence was the way she liked it during her designated nap periods.
If someone was to ask her what made her happy she would answer with nap hour every hour, unless of course she was in a bad mood, then it would be when she went out to kill the ones who enter their world's food chains illegally.
Nonetheless, her happy hour would always remain as such. Nap hour is happy hour.
