As morning arose, the tavern caretakers brought free food up to Gash and Novas room. Which made Nova want to know who Gash was even more. After breakfast they went and sat on the patio, of the tavern. The tavern was named the Split Cauldron, which to Nova was a strange name. The tavern had a frame of stone bricks and the walls where wood, it set on a small slope giving it a unique shape. The patio was down stairs and wrapped up to the second floor, Gash and Novas room was on the third floor. The caretakers seemed hospitable, but also on edge. As Nova and Gash drank some water and alcohol, Nova asked.
"So will you tell me now? About who you really are!"
Gash signed and responded.
"If I tell you do you pledge yourself to my teachings and to carry out the will, I will bestow upon you?"
Nova didn't understand completely, but nodded his head and spoke.
"I pledge my loyalty to my friend and master, and vow to carry out his will."
Gash set down his beer and began to explain.
"Long ago, kings abused their power, they killed and ravaged the land, all while sitting upon the throne. Until one day the Mighty Throne Forgers tested their barbaric reign. The Throne Forgers where an honorable people, they possessed abilities that common humans didn't posses. Yet they didn't choose to oppress the people, they choose to follow the thrones. They killed the barbaric kings and queens, and watched over the thrones as their shield and sword. They where clad in beautiful treasures of war, and rode atop beasts of chaos. The Forgers where invincible, not even the gods could touch them. They protected the thrones from warlords, and appoint righteous and honorable kings, or so they thought. One day the kings gathered in seclusion, they plotted the extermination of the Forgers. They decided to all wage a fake war on each other, believing that the duties of the Forgers would collided. However the Forgers had an oath, the oath went like this.
Brothers, even if opposing, shall not spill thy families blood, nor take thy life. For our life is vowed to thy almighty Thrones.
This vow, caused the Forgers to see threw the kings false charade, the became enraged. Fuel by their bloodlust, they sought out the traitorous kings and queens. They violently killed the kings, which they got it easy. The queens however did not, they raped them for 7 days, 1 day for each throne betrayed. After the 7 days they nailed their naked bodies to a tree in the Nottingfait Forest, now known as the Rotten Wood. After their bloodlust cooled they gathered at the DragonFire Pire, and pledge to find a person that would continue their work. I am one of those Forgers, and Nova you are the person that they vowed upon. I am the last remnant of the old Forgers, so you must carry on the Forgers deeds and vows. This is your calling, and so is it mine to train you."
Nova was stunned, he only heard his father briefly say something about some Old Forgers, but never this story. However Nova knew he had nothing. He was poor and seeking a place in life, so this was a blessing from god, no from the Thrones. Nova spoke.
"Gash, I am nothing, how can I become a Forgers like you, and you said they had special abilities, I have none."
Gash smirked and said.
"Nova I'm here to train you, and your powers will come, you will be the Ultimate Throne Forgers our order has ever had the opportunity of teaching."
Nova was still confused and spoke.
"What kinda powers?"
Gash laughed and began to speak in a boasting voice.
"Powers, hahaha, you will be able to create powerful things form mere sand. Some even Forgers where able, to great armies of sand and stone!"
"The sand beneath your feet, where the ancestors for the great Thrones!"
Nova asked confusingly.
"So are the thrones the symbol of your powers?"
Gash laughed at Nova and spoke almost tearing up.
"Hahah, boy we are Throne Forgers, not Sand Shapers."
Nova resolved himself, this was all the information he needed. As the day went on they talked about many thing Gash spoke of old stories and Nova listened. The tavern became more livelier at night, so Nova and Gash decided to stow away for the night. As the next day came, Gash had already woken up before Nova and was getting ready. Nova asked.
"Are you heading out?"
Gash smiled and said.
"Yes and you are to, we are going to train in the open arena grounds."
The arena ground where always open, unless the gladiators had a match coming. This allowed Nova and Gash to practice with real swords, close to there current residents. As Nova and Gash where training, many other novices and experts where watching them. They laughed at Novas sad attempts to defend against the Gashes short sword. Yet Nova didn't care all he cared about was training. He lived this way till he was 16 years of age, the training was blood spilling. After Nova mastered the swords, spears, bows, and shields, He began to train with war hammers. He faced Mithrilvain daily, and suffered from the heavy blows it dealt. Until one day a man boasting a large frame and many tattoos approached. He spoke rudely to Nova and Gash.
"Ha you weak boy, you can't even defend against a lousy old man."
"Why don't you just get lost, you've been here years and still haven't improved, ha pathetic!"
Nova and Gash payed no head to the mans remarks, this made the man angry. He spoke once more.
"You fuckers dare ignore me, you'll regret that!"
Gash saw the man grab is axes and approached Novas back. Gash spoke.
"It seems you have a real opponent today."
Nova turned around and pointed a rusty war hammer at the man, and said.
"If you dare thrust your blade at me, be prepared to die."
The man stopped and raised his axes, then spoke, while looking at the onlookers.
"Haha, the child dares threaten me, y'all shall be my witness as I kill him!!!"
Gash approached Nova and held out Mithrilvain, then said.
"Here she has not tasted blood in a great many moons, let her drink from that fools blood!"
Nova was shocked, his master offered Mithrilvain to him. This was a sight for the man holding the axes, he laughed and gloated once more.
"Haha, you think that, that tinny hammer can beat me, this will be easier then when I fought Kahn the Black!!"
Nova didn't care about the mans words as he wielded Mithrilvain. For all his years of training gave him the ability to flail Mithrilvain with ease. Then the man charged at Nova, with incredible speed.
Nova was prepared however and dashed to the side, ready with a full swing. As Mithrilvain collided with the mans abdomen, a shiver went down Novas spine. He new he could beat him, but he has never killed another human before. The man grasped his stomach and spat up a little bit of blood. Novas attack definitely was affective, but wasn't fatal. The man charged once again, hitting Nova dead in the jaw and throwing him back. This caused Nova to go into a dream like state.....
