"Where's Gio?" Danielle Tocca asked her mother as soon as she got in the house, she knew that they are like water and oil and thus had to check in with her daughter. Although she knew her daughter was tough, she also wasn't the type to overly scratch back at elders.
"She's in her bedroom or whatever, she just stormed out about nothing and not said anything since." Brenda Moon shrugged her shoulders as she stood and took the plastic bags of food from Danielle. She started unpacking and set utensils for herself only.
Danielle went up and heard through the cracked door that Gio was sniffing as if she was crying. She sighed, and cursed through her teeth "blo*dy mom!" She rearranged her worried face, plastered a smile on her face and knocked lightly on the door.
"Hey, baby" she walked and sat on the side of the bed. "What's wrong? What did Brenda say to you?" She knew that Gio was not a crying type. She would rarely cry unless it was something that she had no control over, she was a tougher exterior of herself. And so she guessed that it must've been her grandmother who had done or said something really damaging to her.
"Father..." Gio said in between sniffing "Said something about father and me and..." she couldn't continue talking and just continued crying as she burried her face in her pillow. Danielle felt a rush of hotness on her face as she thought about the truth of what happened between her and Gio's father. She was not ready for the truth to be out yet, not even after 19years.
Anger bubbled up in Danielle. Brenda had no right to talk about Gio's father and what happened all those years ago. She fumed in anger. She heard her heartbeat in her head and felt herself go numb. The more she thought about it, the more she felt she was about to burst into flames. Ready or not, she knew she had to confront her mother about this.
Yeah... Nah, she couldn't let this happen ever again. She rubbed Gio gently on her back and said softly "Calm down, baby, I will sort this out..." her eyes glistened with tears, she got chocked up by what she wanted to say and couldn't continue, she somehow felt not ready to continue the conversation seeing where the conversation was headed. But she couldn't let her mother get away with this, not now, not ever. She took a deep breathe and stormed out the room and back down stairs.
Gio heard screaming from the moment her mother shut her door. Her mother, Danielle was a loud person but would never shout that much. Gio had never heard her shout with so much anger. She waited for a while for the fight to subside but something crashed and she felt that the fight was getting louder, she stood up to check on her mother.
At this moment her mother was already in tears. Gio's world came to a stop when she stood on top of the stairwell and heard her mother shout "He r*pped me! He f*cken r*pped me!"
