Chapter 50 - Chapter 49: Lesson Number One

Every day after training, Libitina would tidy up and hurry off to Classroom Number One, a makeshift study where her first tutor in Morobeau would be waiting for her.

Of course, her tutor was Alisa Rayford Merveille, once the most powerful aristocrat lady in Clomodorian high society.

"Well, of course, that is ancient history. That flowerful past of suitors, flowers and evil chattery…everything ended once I met my beloved Gregory," Alisa wore her spectacles and looked around the room. "Where is my pointer? This will do."

She picked up a large blue fan with silver linings and smiled at Libitina.

"Good evening, Lina."

"Good day, Mother Tutor," Libitina coughed.

"I want a smile, give me a smile, come on," Alisa smacked Libitina's head gently with the fan. She pulled her own lips back into a wide smile and stared at Libitina until the young girl forced her reluctant lips into an awkward leer.

"There you go. Alright, let us start class. Lesson number one"

"Mother Tutor?"

"Yes, darling?"

"This is the twelfth class…"

"I know, darling, but doesn't calling it lesson number one more interesting? That way, every lesson is a fresh new beginning!"

"…"

"Alright, lesson number one. Today we will be covering the map of Morobeau."

Libitina's eyes lighted up. The map of Morobeau. This ought to be interesting. The past few days had been focused on basic etiquette and learning the proper language and conversational skills.

Alisa unrolled a supremely detailed map in front of Libitina with a flourish. She chuckled when she saw her usually inanimate daughter widen her eyes in excitement. The map was old but well-preserved, and it looked regal and solemn in its faded glory.

"Morobeau refers to the continent that the three great kingdom resides on," Alisa coughed and started her lecture. "No one has ever found land beyond Morobeau, at least not yet. Firstly, we have Auglarus. They worship bears and therefore seek to imbibe the reckless foolish nature of the great beasts, using violence and rough words to resolve everything."

Libitina thought, 'Seems like Alisa does not like Auglarus that much. Nor do I, in any way. After all, Auglarus' king was gloomy even in the game."

"Then of course, the second most prosperous kingdom is Clomodor, who prefers to govern via its institution and law," Alisa continued, "even though corruption, abuse and inequality still exist in our systems. Finally, Bylonia is made up of multiple tribes, different from the monarchial systems in the other two kingdoms. With its temperate climate, we see a lot of rainforests and water streams in Bylonia. It is a place full of resources.

"As you can see on the map, Morobeau has the shape of a snake. At the top, closer to the north, lies Clomodor. We experience colder weathers and seasonal changes frequently. Clomodor shares a border with war-happy Auglarus," Alisa clicked her tongue disapprovingly. "Auglarus shares a border with the primitive country of Bylonia. Due to Auglarus' strategic position, Clomodor and Bylonia often suffer in negotiating trading terms, because Auglarus is the only bridge between the two countries."

"Mother Tutor, are we enemies or friends with Auglarus then?" Libitina asked.

"We are allies. This is inevitable given Auglarus' military might and our close proximity to each other," Alisa sighed. "After all, to live in peace is best, even if the brokered peace is unfair."

Alisa continued to teach Libitina about the various geographical aspects of each country. If Libitina were to compare the kingdoms to her previous world, she would say that geographically, Clomodor resembles Russia, or Eastern Europe, where the weather is primarily colder, drier, and seasonal. Meanwhile, Auglaurus is so large it was like China, with half of it experiencing colder weather while the other half closer to the temperate zones. Bylonia seems just like the Amazon forest in Brazil, with its wildlife and dense forestry. Perhaps, the creators of the Moon Saint otome game drew inspiration from these places as well.

The days flew by, and Libitina continued to take her lessons seriously. She was well aware of what lies ahead of her if she remained nameless and useless as she currently was. She needed to get stronger, faster, more powerful, if just to protect what is dear to her.

Perhaps she will be able to escape the chains of fate that Persephone has on her.

Perhaps one day she may even find a way back home.

'There's still so much to do. But…there is little left for me to lose. I can only live as brightly as possible, like a moth that seeks the flame in the night.

'I will let this world see…how I change my destiny.'
