Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: The Mascot of Auglarus

"Sir Quille, this was not what I mean!"

Marianne teared up from the agitation, but she knew she had to keep calm. As a representative of the Academy and of Auglarus, she must succeed in getting Young Master Henrik's help. She took a deep breath.

"The kingdom of Auglarus and the kingdom of Clomodor have always had a deep friendship, and it has never crossed our minds to do any of the wicked things you claim. We are extremely sorry to have made a mistake that resulted in the escape of a Demon Spirit, and to allow it to enter Clomodor was a grave error that we are willing to make amends for.

"However, the greatest issue at hand is to prevent Persephone from going wild, so as to avoid any Clomodor citizens from getting hurt! Surely, that should be our priority, and my team and I will do our best to locate and seal the spirit, even if you do not offer us help! For it is the soul of my position as Moon Saint to save everyone!"

'Ah,' Henrik thought, 'She has totally fallen into the trap. Since I've totally and unnecessarily escalated the entire issue from a personal request to a national one...Sylvester, you naughty boy, did you just let your precious teammate jump into my hotpot?

'Let us push it a little further then…'

"Save everyone? Hahaha! You say it as if you have the means to do so. You make me laugh, Moon Saint!"

Henrik was not shy with his sarcastic laughter. Marianne was so angry that she felt she could flip the table. Maybe the expensive dishware would hit this infuriating man on the head. She had tried her best, but she seemed to have failed.

"Moon Saint," Henrik sighed dramatically. "Talking is easy. Let's first look at the issue of you lacking the power to make any substantial decision, even in your position as Moon Saint, which I must comment was given to you due to your bloodline and not your ability. You claim to represent Auglarus, but you have nothing in the country. You claim to have goodwill towards Clomodor, but your promises for amendments are naught but empty sayings, even if your teammate is his Royal Highness the Crown Prince," Henrik nodded perfunctorily at Alistair.

"I can give you my word that whatever the Moon Saint says is backed by the royalty of Auglarus," Alistair said.

Henrik simply smiled indulgently at Marianne, watching her fury grow in amusement.

"From my guess," he continued, "Yurian, with his Omkaran bloodline, must have been the one to suggest the method of locating the spirit. Sylvester should have been the one to think of contacting me, his miserable and poor cousin. Alistair should be the overall manager of this bedraggled group of kids.

"And you must be the…mascot."

"Young Master Henrik!" Yurian warned.

"I…am not a mascot." Marianne's sweet voice trembled.

"Ah, you bear a most-likely semblance to it," Henrik said. "But most importantly, you made one very amusing assumption."
