Tang Lin prepared the meat for the Kung Pao Chicken and the Sweet and Sour Pork.
When Tang Lin finished the two dishes, she heard Lu Shen call her, so she turned around and saw Wang Lao in a formal dark gray business suit with a black tie.
"Lu Shen! What are you doing?! Are you trying to ruin a kid's childhood by making him wear a such adult-ish suit. He's not even out of primary school yet!"
Lu Shen sighed and said, "Send a picture of an outfit to me. I'll tell Li Gong to get it."
After ten minutes, she took her apron off and led Wang Lao upstairs after receiving the outfit from Lu Shen's assistant.
Tang Lin left Wang Lao in the room to change and when he came out, he was wearing a cute bunny onesie. His circle glasses made him look more adorable.
"Oh my gosh! Wang Lao, you look so cute!"
She hugged him tightly and led him downstairs.
Lu Shen looked at the little boy and said, "I may have put a more mature outfit for a little kid, but Wang Lao is already in Grade 2! Isn't this bunny suit too childish for him?"
"This outfit is perfect for him. He needs to live his young life while he still has it. He shouldn't be wearing old man suits like you!"
Lu Shen didn't argue back. He did agree that the clothes he had were pretty plain and formal. All of his clothes were either black, grey, or white. Blue was for special occasions, and the only times when he would wear good clothes were when his mother forced him to look good. Not only the color of the suits were the same, they also had the same old man suit look on every one of them. He had no sense of style.
"I'll be picking your suits from now on because your plain style is really blinding," she told him.
"Okay, darling. I'll let you pick out my clothes. Since you check on the jewelry store on the weekdays, I'll clear my schedule for one day, so we could go to the mall to pick out clothes and then, check on your store."
Tang Lin nodded and realized that their guest was going to come soon and she still didn't make the Mapo Tofu and the dumplings yet.
She got up from the chair and put on her apron. Then, she washed her hands and mixed the ingredients for the dumplings in a bowl.
"Wang Lao, do you want to help me make dumplings? I'll show you how to do it. Lu Shen, you should help, too."
The child and Lu Shen went to the kitchen sink to wash their hands and they sat down at the dining table. Tang Lin placed the bowl of filling and dumpling wrap in the middle of the table. She demonstrated how to wrap it and went back to the kitchen to make the Mapo Tofu.
Tang Lin took her phone out to FaceTime her mother because she didn't know how to make the dish. When she made the other dishes, her mother sent texts to guide her as she made the meals. Tang Lin had some cooking lessons from her mother and she had a little practice in making the Sweet and Sour Pork and the Kung Pao Chicken. The steps for dumplings were pretty simple too. But for Mapo Tofu, she had no experience whatsoever.
Tang Lin listened to Zhang Yi's instructions and every five minutes, she would show her mother how it looked like, just in case it wasn't supposed to look like that. She cut up the tofu into squares and tossed them in the wok. Then, she added the other ingredients. The amazing smell was wafting through the kitchen to the dining room. Lu Shen and Wang Lao were so hungry. They were about to just shove the uncooked dumplings in their mouths.
Tang Lin turned off the stove and her mother saw the Mapo Tofu.
"Wow! That looks good! You did a good job, Lin! Okay, I'm going now. I'm going to go cook myself a meal because you got me hungry."
Lu Shen heard his future mother-in-law and yelled, "Goodbye, Aunty! We'll go over to visit soon!"
"Oh, is that Shen? Bye, you guys!" Zhang Yi hung up and Tang Lin plated the dish.
The two were still making the dumplings, so Tang Lin just sat down in an empty chair and stared at the hardworking pair.
Wang Lao wrapped them in ease, while Lu Shen was struggling and the dumpling kept on unfolding.
"Squeeze the dough tighter, or it'll come apart. Look at Wang Lao. He does it better than you. And dear, how do you sweat from making dumplings?"
She took a napkin and wiped her fiancée's forehead.
He looked at the kid and said, "Wang Lao is amazing. Don't compare me to him."
They both saw a smirk at the side of the boy's mouth.
Lu Shen and Wang Lao were done wrapping the dumplings, so Tang Lin took them and steamed them.
Thirty minutes later, Tang Lin brought the finished dishes to the dining table and the doorbell rang.
"I'll go get it." Lu Shen placed the plate of Kung Pao Chicken on the table and walked over to the door.
He hadn't seen how Ke Zhenshao looked yet, so he was curious to see how their new neighbor looked like.
Lu Shen opened the door and a man with a casual white t-shirt was seen. Although he was wearing casual clothes, he still appeared very handsome and good-looking. He almost on par with Lu Shen.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lu." He shook his hand and continued, "I wonder what you are doing at Miss Tang's house."
"Mr. Ke, she didn't tell you? I'm her fiancée," Lu Shen said. He had a bad feeling about this guy, and he felt uncomfortable talking to him. Just in case, he staked his claim on Tang Lin.
"Oh. She mentioned that she had a fiancée, but I did not expect that Miss Tang Lin was engaged to you. My apologies."
"It's alright. The public does not know about our engagement yet. It is expected that people are clueless about it. Please come in. My fiancée and I made dinner."
Lu Shen led the man to the dining room and joined Tang Lin and Wang Lao at the table.
Ke Zhenshao greeted Tang Lin and Wang Lao. Lu Shen explained to him that Wang Lao encountered an unfortunate event and they were taking him in for a while and he understood.
As they were eating, Tang Lin asked, "Mr. Ke, I watched the news this morning and I heard that you wanted to do business with Tang Corporation and Lu Group. Is that true?"
"Yes. Ever since I was in Korea, I have always wanted to cooperate with Tang Corporation and Lu Group. This is part of the reason why I decided to relocate my company in China." He paused and continued, "Miss Tang, your cooking is truly outstanding. Whoever becomes your husband in the future is very lucky."
Lu Shen looked suspiciously at Ke Zhenshao. He thought, 'Why is he saying that as if I'm not going to be the lucky person in the future? He said that as if I'm not here!'
Lu Shen held his fiancée's hand on the table.
"I agree. I'm very lucky to have her. When I become her husband, I would be the luckiest person alive," he emphasized the "I" in his sentence to remind the man that his woman was taken.
Lu Shen thought that he saw Ke Zhenshao rolling his eyes as he said, "Uh huh."
When they continued to eat, Ke Zhenshao made glances at Tang Lin and smiled every time. This made Lu Shen even more jealous.
The table was now all empty because Tang Lin went to take the empty dishes to the sink.
"It was a pleasure talking to you Mr. Ke. I hope that our companies could work together one day," Tang Lin said as the three walked their guest out.
"I hope so, too. Thank you for the meal."
They went back inside once they saw that the man walked out the gate.
Tang Lin noticed her fiancée sitting on the couch with a pouty face.
"What's wrong? Someone steal your candy?" She walked towards him and brushed his lips with her fingers, so he wouldn't stick out his bottom lip.
"Someone tried to. He even made conversation with it," Lu Shen said.
It took Tang Lin a moment to realize what he was saying.
"Are you jealous? Aww!! You are! Why else would you pout like that? My baby is jealous!"
She put her hands on his face and squeezed his cheeks. He had an angry expression, but it all washed away when he saw Tang Lin smiling at him as she pinched his cheeks. She even called him her 'baby' just to stop him from being jealous.
Lu Shen puffed his lips out for a kiss and Tang Lin's face was blushing. She swayed her head back and forth, so she could tease her fiancée and make him think that she was going to kiss him. He got impatient, so he went forward and kissed her on the lips.
"Hey! I wasn't ready!" She said.
Tang Lin brought him in for another kiss. After that, she kissed him all over his face. Wang Lao was about to puke all of his dinner on the floor.
Meanwhile, Ke Zhenshao was sitting on his bed thinking deeply about something.
The caller ID, Ke Zhenyi, appeared on his phone and he picked it up.
"Hello, Sis?"
"Hey, Bro, How was your luck with that woman, Tang Lin? Did she seem to like you?"
"Yep. She liked me...as a business partner."
His sister sighed, "What a bummer. Why did you include work into your conversation?"
"That was the only thing I could talk about, since her fiancée was there."
"Bro! Why are you going after an engaged woman?"
"Zhenyi, her fiancée is the man you 'fell in love' with, Lu Shen. Wasn't he the reason why you wanted to move back? We still have a chance."
"Okay. I'll get my man away from her."
"Good. You read my mind. As expected of my twin."
