Chereads / Venomancer Of Gaming / Chapter 44 - Trailing Behind

Chapter 44 - Trailing Behind

This was a party that seemed to be at a higher level. In fact, the players who were there to level up were at least around Level 17 or 18.

Of course, Fatty was an exception. He had come here to complete his quest and not to level up…

The players of this party were fully equipped. An Undead Dark Hunter of the party had just shot an arrow and robbed Fatty of his last hit. There was also an Orc Race Berserker, an Apostle Race Death Knight, an Orc Race Prophet, and an Undead Thief.

This seemed like a very powerful party with high damage…

After snatching a Poison Dart Frog from Fatty, the Dark Hunter seemed to see that the other three Poison Dart Frogs had low health, so he happily pulled his bow to continue shooting.

His four teammates looked at Fatty mockingly.

Kill-stealing was already common in the game. Sometimes, there was no reason for it at all. A player would do it if they wanted to. The four Poison Dart Frogs whose HP Fatty had reduced with the toxin effect were basically free EXP for them. If they didn't kill-steal, they would be letting themselves down.

Didn't a solo Venomancer look as though he was being bullied?

Therefore, not only did the Dark Hunter's party members not stop him, but they even watched the fun from the side.

The reason Fatty's last hit had been snatched by the Dark Hunter was completely because of his lack of mental preparation. Now that he had seen them, how could he still make such a mistake?

When the bow and arrow in the hand of the Dark Hunter once again shot an arrow, Fatty also made his attack.

He stopped in the same spot and released his Miasma Skill. Before the Dark Hunter's arrow hit, Fatty had killed the Poison Dart Frog and made the last hit.

The player of the party, who had failed to obtain the last hit, couldn't help being stunned.

As long as a range attack was not targeting the person in front, a player had to consider the attack's speed in the air. The magic shot or arrow would not immediately hit the target once it was released. The process might take some time, and that time would depend on the distance.

The Dark Hunter was standing behind Fatty, so the distance between them and the Poison Dart Frog was naturally different. Since he was further and Fatty had released an attack at the same time he had, Fatty's attack would definitely hit the Poison Dart Frog first!

Fatty had already become proficient in the last-hitting technique. Time calculation was a child's play to him.

"Hey! That's strange!" The Dark Hunter mumbled and shot another arrow with his bow. "I don't believe this!"

Unfortunately, Fatty had killed the monster before him!

The Dark Hunter had not managed to snatch two consecutive Poison Dart Frogs that had low health. Thus, his teammates couldn't sit still anymore.

"What's wrong with you? You can't even kill-steal?"

"No!" the Dark Hunter said gloomily. "I don't understand. How did he know which one I was going to shoot? Every time, he killed it before me…"

Yes. Theoretically, there were still three other Poison Dart Frogs with low health that the Dark Hunter could shoot. If Fatty had attacked a Poison Dart Frog that wasn't the target of the Dark Hunter, he would still have been robbed of his last hit.

This made the Dark Hunter feel quite puzzled. The first time, it might have been a coincidence, but Fatty had attacked twice the target that the Dark Hunter had been about to attack. As a result, he had not managed to obtain EXP either of those times.

They probably hadn't expected that Fatty would actually not play the game with an electroencephalogram connector like them but with a holographic device. From a third-person perspective, if one looked down from this point of view, one could easily see the flight path of the arrow and determine which one of the frogs the Dark Hunter was going to attack.

This was not a very difficult skill, yet no member of the party could think of it. Therefore, they found it unbelievable.

In the end, there was only one Poison Dart Frog left. Since Fatty had stopped, the Poison Dart Frog jumped in front of him and attacked him.

"-23!" The damage was indeed a bit high.

However, Fatty did not rush to kill the Poison Dart Frog. Instead, he waited for the Dark Hunter to kill-steal again. He wanted to show this group of people by using facts that the Venomancer was not so easily bullied.

This party could also see his intentions, so they couldn't help but get angry. A single player, who was supposed to be bullied, had now in turn provoked them instead. How haughty!

The players seemed to have said something on the party channel, so the Dark Hunter smiled strangely. Then, he raised his bow and shot out an arrow.

As soon as he did that, Fatty saw his arrow's flight trajectory, which was directed at him. He had never expected that and hadn't even used the Miasma Skill to kill the Poison Dart Frog.

A moment later, Fatty realized that he had been wrong!

The Dark Hunter's arrow was not aimed at the Poison Dart Frog, but at him!

When the Poison Dart Frog attacked Fatty at a close range, since the distance was so short, he could basically see the difference in the angle of the arrow. While Fatty killed the Poison Dart Frog, the Dark Hunter shot him with his arrow.

"-32!"

"You were attacked by a player of the same camp. Owl Wolf has maliciously attacked you. You have fifteen minutes to fight back!"

Upon hearing the system prompt, Fatty knew that he had entered a PK.

Not only was this Dark Hunter's reputation disgusting, but his attacks were also cunning. Upon seeing that he was not confident about getting the last hit from Fatty, he had actually attacked Fatty instead!

It was okay to enter a PK. Fatty also knew that Venomancers were normally a target of bullying in the early stage of the fame, as they did not have a strong output ability, nor did any party want them. Plus, they belonged to a magic class with low defense and HP. It would be strange if other classes did not discriminate against them.

What Fatty really cared about was something else. When the system displayed the player's name, he realized that the prefix of his name was Owl Wolf!

He was actually a member of the Owl Wolf Guild?

The people who used that name prefix after entering the game were mostly internal members of the guild. A general player wouldn't have done this.

Fatty had heard of the Owl Wolf Guild. Besides having many members, they were also strong. They deserved the title of the second-in-rank guild of the server of China.

The strength of this guild was also well-known. Anyone who provoked this guild would not live a good life. Although Fatty had never interacted with the players of this guild before, he had heard a lot about them bullying other players.

The other party had started a PK just because he had snatched away the EXP of the Poison Dart Frogs, so one could imagine their behavior.

After the Dark Hunter attacked Fatty, his teammates also took out their weapons and assumed a fighting stance. It seemed that they wanted to gang up on Fatty and kill him. After all, Fatty had just fought over the last hit with them and disgraced them. Therefore, they would rather kill him quickly.

Upon seeing that this group of players was prepared to attack him, Fatty hurriedly controlled his character to run away.

He wasn't afraid of the reputation of the Owl Wolf Guild. In fact, there were no guilds in the game yet. Fatty was a single casual player and he believed that even though he had provoked the other party, they would not be able to mobilize the entire guild to chase after him. He ran away because he had no chance of winning such a battle.

The other party had five players, and most of them belonged to damage classes. They also had a healer. This party formation was very neat. Even a group of people that fought with them might need to make a lot of effort, let alone Fatty. If he rushed up to have a PK with them hastily, he would purely be courting death. Fatty didn't think he was that dumb, so he wouldn't do that.

However, there was also another reason. His level was too low now and he had yet to learn many Venomancer skills. If Fatty learned an AoE attack like the Poison Star, he would be confident about killing this group of players. However, had he learned it yet? He hadn't! Most of his skills now were just single attacks, and their skill level was relatively low. His Venomancer poison damage effect was not obvious either. Thus, Fatty felt that he shouldn't fight such an unsure battle.

Upon seeing Fatty run, the Dark Hunter wanted to chase after him but was stopped by the Orc Race Berserker of the party.

"Forget it. He's just a coward. Let's not bother. We still have some things to do!"

The Dark Hunter spat and said angrily, "He's lucky!" Then, he put away his bow, and the party of players left in the opposite direction.

However, they didn't know that after Fatty ran some distance away and realized that this group wouldn't chase after him, he was puzzled again.

From afar, he saw the group of players walk toward the depths of the swamp without paying attention to the monsters they encountered along the way. Instead, they made a detour. Upon seeing this, Fatty was even more puzzled. This group of players didn't seem to be leveling up!

Curious, he followed them away to see what they were up to. If he had a chance, he wouldn't mind retaliating against their malicious behavior…

Fatty was not magnanimous and was actually quite shrewd. When he knew that he couldn't win, he would turn around and retreat without hesitation. However, once he found a chance, he would definitely bite back!

As he followed them to a more secluded place, Fatty noticed that they had stopped.

He also found out what they were going to do. Not far in front of them was a common Quagmire Monster that was wandering around.

It was a Boss! This group of players had found a wild Boss for some reason and had even found some players to fight it!
