After the little checking out contest, Zhou Ting finally opened his mouth to speak.
" Xiao Xi let's eat first the food is getting cold." he didn't complete what he wanted to say because he didn't want her the too nervous and then lose her appetite.
Plus he also knew that if they began discussing the topic they wanted to, whether it was before lunch or during, they wouldn't have much appetite for food any more, so it was better to fill their stomachs first before any other thing.
Even though they were eating, they still stole occasional glances at one another.
It was like drinking a particular tea for the first time and then been unable to stop yourself from taking continuous sips subconsciously. They just couldn't get enough of seeing each other which was understandable, since they have both pinned for one another for so long.
Without even realizing it, they were both full in no time but there was still so much food on the table.
It was obvious that they both didn't eat much before dropping their chopsticks.
The waiter soon returned and cleared the table before serving them some snacks and tea to aid digestion.
When they were both alone in the room, they both took big gulps of tea as if it would help them breach the topic they wanted to discuss. After a while, no one still spoke, unable to stand the silence any longer, Mo Xiaye finally broke the silence.
" I didn't run away from you... I.. " She took in a deep breath to calm herself. " I only left after my father disowned me... I.. Was... " Seeing how uneasy she was, he knew she wanted to talk about the pregnancy.
He stood up and then went to sit beside her taking her hands in his and caressing them to help alleviate her nervousness. One by one, he pried her fingers which were enclosed in a fist, open.
" Why did your father disown you? You can tell me slowly I won't judge you or get angry. I'll let you finish all you want to say before I ask questions if I have any. " He spoke to her softly still caressing her hands to distract her. Finally feeling at ease from his words, she began to speak again.
" My father disowned me because I was pregnant. " She raised her head which was previously down because she was staring at their hands and looked him in the eyes. " He disowned me because I was pregnant outside of wedlock and with your child. " When he saw she had stopped talking and was just staring at him, he assumed it was time for questions.
"You were pregnant with my baby, my child why didn't you come look for me after he disowned you? I wouldn't have let my child and woman suffer, I would have done anything to give you both a comfortable life. "
" I know that. That's why I didn't come to find you. It was enough that one of us had to quit school, I knew that if I had come, you would quit college without a second thought and go look for a job to take care of us; but I couldn't bear to do that, I know how important your education was to you and your family so I did the next best thing that occurred to me, take care of myself and the baby. "
" When I came to ask about your whereabouts, they told me something else. " He said holding her in his arms now.
" What did they tell you? " She asked expecting something that wasn't exactly pleasing to the ear. She understood the family she was born into and how things worked around there.
