The moment Mo Ning laid eyes on Zhao Weiran kneeling on the ground, she seized crying and like a lion whose cub had been devoured, charged towards her.
She pulled her by the hair and raised her face to look directly into her eyes.
" Did you do it?" She asked in a calm voice.
It was the calm before the storm.
Hearing her question, Zhao Weiran didn't know what to say.
What was she to say? That she did it or that she didn't do it but was aware of it. Either way, she was involved.
" Answer me damn it! I said did you do it, did you drug me? " Mo Ning asked again through gritted teeth. Zhao Weiran had no choice but to give an answer;she had to dance to the music she had made no matter how the music turned out to be.
" I... I... I wa...was involved. " She finally managed to squeeze out in between sobs.
Hearing her response, Mo Ning let go of her and dropped on her knees, disbelief evident on her face.
She had asked the question just to be sure but she didn't expect the answer she got.
Seeing her in this state, Bai Yaran wanted to get involved. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
But before she could go to give Zhao Weiran a well deserved beating, someone stopped her. It was Shen Mucheng.
"Don't get involved. Let her handle this on her own."
"What do you mean not to get involved? Don't you understand the severity of the situation? Ha! You won't understand anyway you're a guy. You weren't the one who was set up by her friend. " She spat out putting emphasis on friend.
Her words made Shen Mucheng wince. But despite her words, he still had a tight grip on her hand.
He knew exactly what it felt like. That feeling of betrayal you never expected from someone so close to you. He understood that feeling so well that the result still tormented him till date. He knew that Mo Ning would want to deal with this herself with no external help. He knew that from experience and even though it was not always the best choice, it was still something she would want to do.
"Do you think she will want you to intervene right now? She would want to settle this herself. Don't get involved give her that satisfaction that will help her feel a little better." He said releasing her hand.
He had said what he had to say. He won't force her to listen to him. It was her own choice to listen or not to listen.
After hearing his words, Bai Yaran calmed down a bit. He was right;the satisfaction will help her feel a little better she thought. She returned to the bed and sat down her chest heaving.
Mo Ning stayed kneeling for a while before she finally said something.
" Why? " She asked. Even though she didn't ask a complete question, everyone in the room knew exactly what she was asking.
" I don't know. I used to think that it was because he promised to give me the lead role in ' Troubled Oceans'. But now I don't know. All I know is that I'm terribly sorry. No matter what you decide to do to me, I don't mind. I know that you would no longer want me as a friend after this but that's fine, all I want is your forgiveness. " Zhao Weiran replied in a resigned tone. No matter how Mo Ning decided to treat her, she couldn't complain because she was at fault in the first place.
Even if she decided not to forgive her, she wouldn't complain. Not many can forgive something like that in the first place. She would just have to live with the guilt all her life.
