"I will come back as soon as I can", Marquis Cyric said as he looked lovingly at his wife and his almost two year old son
"Please come back before our son's birthday darling", Alina said with a sad expression on her face.
"Definitely", Marquis Cyricsaid as he moved forward and warmly hugged his family before turning around and getting in the carriage.
Alina waved her hand as she saw the carriage leaving through the door.
Grant who was being held by her mother also kept looking at the diminishing figure of the carriage wondering why his father left so suddenly.
--------------------------------
[In the middle of the night.]
Sitting on top of a luxurious couch, a lady with beautiful blue hair could be seen dozing off.
*Swish*
A cold wind came from the nearby window, making Alina's eyelids tremble, raising her hand she lightly rubbed her left eyes.
"When did I fell asleep here...", Yawning lightly, she got off the couch.
"Maria bring me some water please", With a slightly tired tone she called out her maid's name.
She waited for a while but getting no reply made her furrow her brows.
"Geez don't tell me this maid has gone to sleep leaving me like this...", With a dissatisfied tone she picked up the magic lamp and left the room.
Walking down the hallway Alina stopped and looked out of the window, a full moon could be seen hanging in the night sky.
For some reason, looking at the silent night, a feeling of unease welled up inside her heart.
Her footsteps unknowingly fastened up as the mysterious silence made her heart race faster.
"Maria", Alina said in an almost shouting voice but still there was no response.
"James, Karl, Lara.....Anyone?", Suddenly Aline slowly slowed down as her footsteps came to a halt.
The ambiguousness of the situation was finally getting to her.
'Why is none of the servants responding....'
With quick movement she looked out of the window, Her eyes enlarged at what she saw.
The guards which always stayed at the main gate were gone.
'Grant!', Suddenly the innocent face of her young son came to her mind as she started running towards his room without a second thought.
Unknown to her, a figure was stuck on the ceiling looking at her with cold eyes.
A small knife appeared in the figure's right hand as it silently jumped on the running lady aiming directly at the back of her head.
Just as the knife was about to reach the lady.
For a split second, the assassin saw a flash of blue light.
"Water blade"
A blue coloured light was aimed right at the assassin's stomach, ready to bisect his body in two but against all odds the assassin turned his body around at the last second, barely dodging the [Water blade] by a hair's breadth.
Confusion filled the assassin's red eyes with lizard like pupils as he stumbled while landing.
But the confusion was instantly replaced by anger for not being able to complete his task, he quickly raised his head to pounce at the lady once again.
*Pierce*
With confused eyes, the assassin looked down at the short metal sword coming out of his chest in disbelief.
Looking up he saw a pair of cold eyes looking straight at him.
*Gush*
With sharp movements, Aline pulled out the sword from the assassin's chest, the naive looking lady from before has suddenly transformed into a trained warrior.
"Filthy demons...", Muttering under her breadth, Aline removed the assassin's mask revealing two pair of horns on his forehead.
Looking down, she saw the demon griping onto something tightly in his hand.
With a frown on her face, Aline used her short sword and opened up the hand.
What appeared in her sight was a blue heart like object beating rhythmically.
All colours drained from Aline's face when she saw the object, quickly using her legs she jumped back.
At the same time light came out of the blue heart.
*BOOM*
A giant explosion happened burning down the entire hallway and the nearby rooms.
--------------------
*Cough*
Coughing out a mouthful of blood, Aline felt intense pain coming from all parts of her body, she survived the blast by jumping out of the nearby window and enveloping herself in an armour made out of water.
But the intensity of the blast was too much for her barrier to handle as it was instantly breached burning down half of her hair and making her suffer from the direct impact of the fall.
Luckily the nearby trees cushioned her fall, or else the damage would have been much more severe.
Gritting her teeth, Aline endured the pain and started walking towards Grant's room.
Blood dripped out of her legs, and it felt like her left shoulder has been dislocated, but she still nevertheless pushed on.
She knew that in her current state she would not even be able to run away from any demon much less fight them.
In fact she would not have been able to beat the previous assassin if she didn't saw his reflection in the mirror earlier.
She wouldn't even have noticed it's presence otherwise.
Her family have made sure to train her in the way of swords and magic , that is why she always carries a short sword under her skirt as a habit.
The Marquis knew that she was a trained fighter, that was got made him fall in love with her in the first place.
Moving forward, Aline took out a piece oof wood struck in her thigh, causing more blood to some out.
'Please be safe Grant...', Her eyes turned red as she pushed her body even harder.
************
After what felt like an eternity, Aine finally arrived before her son's room.
Raising her hand she pushed the door open.
*Clank*
Her eyes quickly turned towards the familiar cradle.
But instead of her son, what she saw was blood strains.
Looking at the bloody cradle, her heart tightened as she forgot how to breath for a second, her legs which were already in a bad shape quivered as she powerlessly fell down on her knees.
Her mouth opened up but no voice came out, slowly her eyes lost focused unable to believe what was in front of her.
*Pull*
Suddenly she felt something pulling her dress.
Slowly turning her head back she behind and.....
Froze.
"Mom?", Grant said with an innocent look on his eyes as he extended his small hand and wiped the drop of tear sliding down Aline's face.
Focus returned to Aline's eyes as she felt the warmth coming from Grant's small hand.
*Hug*
Moving with lightning speed she hugged her son and burst out crying.
"It's fine everything is okay mom", Grant said in a calming voice as a golden light covered his small hand while he patted Aline's back in a calming manner.
A miraculous thing happened as the golden light coming from Grant's hand enveloped Alien's body and started healing her wounds.
Her hair returned to normal, the blood strains disappeared, with a pop sound her shoulder fixed itself.
If not for her damaged dress, no one could have thought that she just survived a life threatening battle.
"Don't worry...you can leave the rest to me."
Grant's voice worked like a spell as Aline quickly fell asleep.
Feeling Aline's heartbeat stabelise, Grant stopped patting her back as he used his magic to lift her and layed her down on the large bed inside.
Coming back, Grant stood by the door.
A dangerous glow appeared in Grant's eyes as he calmly stared at the bloody hallway.
Moving his hand, he slowly closed the door, not giving a second look at the dozens of decapitated bodies lying there.
"Insects...."
*Clank*
