Xia Yuxun, still shaken, leaned back against the door with a look of horror, turned her head to glance at the arm propped up next to her ear, then twisted her stiff neck to meet a face covered with dark clouds and bursting with flashes of lightning…
Uh, Leng Sichen?
She was scared to death—why wasn't this guy sitting at his desk like usual and instead stood behind the door to frighten people?
However... did this count as being "pinned against the wall" by him?
If it weren't for the person's expression being so terrifying, this long-desired scene might have made her heart race with excitement.
Right now, though, it was her racing heart being scared out of its wits...
The other party kept silent, focussing on exuding a cold aura, so she had no choice but to lightly cough and take the initiative, "Um... BOSS, did you need something from me?"
"You're three hours late," Leng Sichen's voice was cold enough to chip ice.
"Um... it was two hours and fifty-three minutes..." someone defended themselves, utterly unaware of their impending doom.
"Where did you go last night?" Leng Sichen eyed her new clothes with a displeased look. She had never worn them before, and the brand was so expensive that it couldn't possibly be something she bought herself.
Xia Yuxun blinked rapidly and darted her gaze around, "I didn't... didn't go anywhere!"
Leng Sichen scoffed lightly, inching closer, "Then what are you feeling guilty about?"
"I am not feeling guilty!" she argued, her neck stiffening in protest.
"When you feel guilty, you stutter, avoid my gaze, your blinking rate increases, and after being found out, your fingers will habitually..." Leng Sichen said, his gaze falling upon her hands.
Xia Yuxun followed his gaze in a panic, quickly releasing the fingers that had been twisting her clothes.
That was enough—she never had any privacy in front of this guy from childhood onwards!
"I'll ask you one more time, where did you go last night? Why didn't you come home!" Leng Sichen pressed, containing his anger as he asked again.
The Leng family's old mansion was right next door to her house. Leng Sichen was very diligent, often reading late into the night. During her countless sleepless nights, especially right after her mother died, she would just look through the window to see the warm, comforting light in his room.
Later, even though she had moved out of her pain and he had moved out of the old mansion, he still became a permanent fixture in her heart.
It seemed that Leng Sichen had stayed at the old mansion last night, or else how would he have known she didn't come home?
Xia Yuxun, provoked by his aggressive tone, blurted out in annoyance and embarrassment: "Why do you care where I went? What does it have to do with you? Who do you think you are, minding so much of my business..."
"Oh, who am I?" Leng Sichen laughed lowly, "Xia Yuxun, your bonus this month..."
Xia Yuxun instantly leaped forward to stop him from continuing, "BOSS! Boss! President! I was wrong! I went to a bar last night because I was feeling down, so I drank too much, but I didn't let it affect my work, next time I'll..."
Leng Sichen interrupted her, "Feeling down? Why were you feeling down?"
Xia Yuxun glanced at him, then, looking down at her fingers, muttered, "Chasing you for twenty years and still not having caught you, and now I have to watch as another woman takes you away, how the hell can I be in a good mood..."
