Chapter 28 - Sudden Enlightenment

"Kickass Brother, how many do you want?" After finding out that Li Huailin wanted to buy health potions, a player immediately started to solicit a deal. Although every player needed potions, not every player could afford to spend money on it. He accumulated a large amount and couldn't sell them—if he didn't complete the guild's assignment, he wouldn't be able to level up. This was why he was in quite a rush.

"Wait, let me calculate." Li Huailin looked at the amount of money he had, there were a total of 22 Gold Coins and a few dozen Silver Coins right now. After some consideration, he decided it was enough to leave a few dozen silver coins since he didn't have any use for the money—he would buy 22 Gold Coin's worth right now, or 550 bottles. "I want to buy a total of 550 bottles, do you have it?"

"That many?" The seller was startled, despite having a lot in stock, he didn't have 550 bottles. "I have a total of six and a half sets, which is 65 bottles."

"I have five sets here!" Another player shouted.

"I have nine sets here!" And yet another player shouted.

"Everyone pool in, let's see if there's enough." Someone who obviously looked like they were from a large guild started to use their leadership skills to organize the sale.

Since everyone was in a rush to sell their potions, they acted swiftly. And in a short while, someone counted how many bottles each person had and how much money they should receive.

"Kickass Brother, there are a total of 42 sets here, that's 420 bottles," the player who took the lead said, "Why don't you wait a little while? I'll have people from my guild take down the ones on auction and deliver it here first, it'll take around five minutes."

The auction house only took a breach penalty for taking items off the auction. However, it was still better than letting it sit there and not be sold—they wouldn't be at a loss anyway.

"Alright, I'll wait," Li Huailin said this after giving it some thought.

"Oh right, since there are a total of 55 sets, your inventory won't be able to hold all of it, why don't we do the trade at the bank?" A player kindly reminded him.

"The bank?" Li Huailin was confused.

"The bank's safe Kickass Brother, you've never used it before?" A player asked, quite baffled.

"I've never used it before, how the heck does it work?" Li Huailin asked.

"Oh, I see," the player unexpectedly began to explain in detail. The setup in 'Heart of Glory' was that each player had a total of 50 slots of inventory space. The same items could be stacked, however, there was a maximum limit of stacks per item. The stack limit for health potions was 10 bottles, this was named a 'set'. Li Huailin wanted to buy 550 bottles, which was 55 sets of health potions. Since this already surpassed the inventory limit, it had to be stored in the bank's safe.

In the bank in 'Heart of Glory', every player had their own preinstalled 50 slots of storage space. The items inside wouldn't be stolen or dropped, if players wanted to expand the storage space, they could buy it with gold, each purchase increased 10 slots. However, the price would become more and more expensive, the first purchase would be 1 Gold Coin, and the second would be 10 Gold Coins…

"I understand," after hearing the player's explanation, Li Huailin nodded. "Let's go then."

He and the players who were waiting to receive their money came to the main city's bank not so far in the distance, the players in charge of delivery in the guild were also already waiting at the bank. After a simple exchange of money and goods, Li Huailin finally fulfilled his wish of obtaining 550 bottles of health potions.

"Kickass Brother, I'm Snow Lion guild's financial administrator, I Don't Have Money." After the player who took the lead earlier accepted the 22 Gold Coins in the trade, he initiated a conversation with Li Huailin, "Let's add each other as friends, if you have any business in the future, you can find me."

"Your name is so dope," Li Huailin couldn't help but say this.

"Hehe." I Don't Have Money laughed. "The guild members from the higher echelons to the lower echelons all ask me for money, I really had to take this name. Anyway, I'm a financial administrator and not a main force in the battle squad, I don't really require a more imposing name."

"Alright, I'll contact you in the future," Li Huailin laughed and said.

"Okay," After I Don't Have Money said this, he left with a bunch of players who were waiting to receive their money.

"F*ck, it's finally taken care of." Li Huailin waved his hand happily — looking at the health potions packed in his inventory, he felt a wave of great bliss.

"Alright! It's time to chug this potion filled with poison." Li Huailin picked up a health potion and quickly poured it down his mouth.

Health Potion: Lose 35 Health Points every second, continues for 6 seconds.

"Again." Li Huailin wanted to drink a second bottle right after he finished the first bottle, however, he suddenly discovered that he couldn't drink it.

System Notice: You still need 28 seconds before you can drink the next Health Potion.

"Oh sh*t! There's a cooldown time!" Li Huailin was surprised, he then suddenly felt elated. "Fortunately, I didn't think that much and just bought all the Medium Health Potions I could, or else, if I really used everything and bought Small Health Potions, I'd be drinking till I'd die."

The Small Health Potions could replenish 100 Health Points, whereas the Medium Health Potions could replenish 210 Health Points. However, the Small Health Potion was much cheaper, logically speaking, it would be more worth it to buy everything in Small Health Potions. Since Li Huailin really didn't think about the cooldown at the time, this was a rather serendipitous outcome that allowed him to avoid a problem.

"It's about time." Once Li Huailin reckoned that the cooldown was about to be over, he raised his hand to drink another bottle.

System Notice: You still need 2 seconds before you can drink the next Health Potion.

"Tsk! Annoying."

Li Huailin was indeed getting a little impatient, after struggling with the system for 6 minutes, he finally screamed tragically, dying from drinking health potions.

"Sh*t! What happened?" A player on the side was startled, he was clearly at the bank inside the safety zone, and yet, he saw a person fall down and turn into a streak of white light—how could he not find this strange?

This player walked to where Li Huailin had fallen down to check things out, once he arrived, he actually discovered a set of health potions on the ground.

"Oh sh*t! How could I be so lucky?" The player hurriedly picked it up — this was a set of health potions that were worth 40 Silver Coins. With a guilty conscience, the player looked around at the surroundings to make sure no one noticed, he then left in a hurry. After all, if the owner of these potions came back, then things would be a bit awkward.

"Oh sh*t!" At this time, Li Huailin, who had come out of the respawn point, discovered that he'd dropped a stack of health potions, he only then became aware once more that death would result in dropping items. The reason why he didn't drop anything from dying up till now was because he only wore the newbie's three-piece outfit. However, the health potions weren't considered part of the newbie's three-piece outfit — Li Huailin was really careless, this was why he dropped a stack of potions.

Li Huailin hurriedly rushed back to the bank — of course, his dropped stack of potions on the ground were already long gone.

"Which damned guy actually stole my things!?" Li Huailin was furious, since he didn't even know who did it, he could only choose to forget about this matter. He only had himself to blame for his carelessness.

After some thought, Li Huailin filled the bank with the 50 sets of health potions, and then, he left four sets on his person, all of which were separated — one bottle in each slot — this way, he would only drop one bottle if he died. This was sort of acceptable.

After handling these things, Li Huailin left the bank and then drank a potion while walking towards a place with fewer people. When he walked to an alley with a few people, Li Huailin yelled tragically — he fell to the ground and died.

"Okay!" Li Huailin, who had just respawned, discovered that he didn't drop anything, it seemed he was quite lucky at this. Thus, he continued to chug down potions while walking to a place where no one was.

System Notice: You have leveled up to Level 13.

After dying three times, Li Huailin finally leveled up. Originally, he should've leveled up by dying twice. Because he went to a dungeon with the girls, he lost 9% Experience. This resulted in his need for dying one more time.

Without any further delay, Li Huailin continued to drink potions. His path was to first go to the bank to grab 12 bottles of health potions, and then drink them while walking to a place where no one was, he would then die there. After respawning, he would repeat this process—each cycle was roughly six to seven minutes.

Li Huailin was engrossed with this nonstop leveling tactic the entire morning, he died roughly over 30 times. Because of this, his level was already 15. At this moment, he had just walked to a quiet corner, since he just downed the twelfth bottle of health potion — then in another six seconds, he should be dead.

"What?" Unexpectedly, after six seconds, Li Huailin discovered that he was actually still alive. He took a look at his health and discovered that there were actually over 40 points remaining, it was slowly rising.

"What? Huh?" Li Huailin was confused for a short while, he then suddenly realized that since he leveled up, 12 bottles wouldn't poison him to death at his current level. Instead, he had to drink 13 bottles.

"Now… that's problematic." Li Huailin's first thought was to rush back to the bank to grab another bottle to drink, or else if his blood regenerated back, all the other potions would have been wasted for nothing.

Just when this thought jumped out of his mind, his buttocks suddenly clenched. "Oh crap! Am I an idiot? I still have the 280% all attribute buff, this is why I have so much health! Why didn't I wait until my health's restored to normal before drinking the poison potions to level up? After just three to four bottles, I'd be dead by then, why did I waste so many potions?"
