Chereads / Quarter Breed: Escape / Chapter 14 - Chapter twelve

Chapter 14 - Chapter twelve

School ended early due to some national holiday nobody cared about. I sat on the benches by the parking lot as I waited for the others. Just as I was about to text the others with a new phone the pack gave me, I was abused by a blonde girl and two of her friends.

"What the hell did you do to me?" Tiffany growled and I raised an eyebrow. I placed a protective hand over my left pocket where Charlie laid asleep.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't do anything to you." I answered without an ounce of emotion in my voice or on my face.

"It all started when I looked at you this morning. I have felt so empty and alone. Yet, I can't seem to figure out why. All I know is that it is your fault." she rambled as her friends sneered at me over her shoulder.

"Look, I didn't do anything to you. I am sorry that you are not feeling well but don't put the blame on me." I responded, unable to keep the annoyance out of my voice.

"You liar!" she screeched and launched herself at me. I hadn't moved from my seat, which I regretted as the nails of her right hand dug into my shoulder. Her left hand scratched marks across my face before I was able to shove her off of me. Her friends rushed me and held me down to the bench as Tiffany regained her footing.

"What the hell is going on here?" a slightly familiar voice asked and we all looked over to who spoke. It was the boy with gray eyes and I could feel my face heat up.

"This has nothing to do with you! Get out of here, mutt." Tiffany spat and turned back to me. I, however, couldn't take my eyes off the boy. It was then that his scent hit me, he smelled like pineapple and mangoes.

"MATE" Lee and Amelia yelled in my mind. When his gray eyes met mine again, his eyes grew wide for a moment.

"Well, I just made it my business. I mean three against one is just unfair. Two against three is a bit better odds." He replied and the more he spoke the more familiar he seemed to be. Tiffany looked at him like he was an idiot and he just smirked.

"This has nothing to do with you, why help this weak fag?" she asked but I was just as curious. His smile faltered as he walked closer and pulled me away from the girls that held me back. He put himself between me and them while they stood there in shock.

"I don't need a reason to be a good person." he responded and his voice sent shivers up my spine. It was so deep and threatening. However, I could feel that it was not aimed at me.

"Give him back! I need to know what he did to me!" she screamed and lunged at the mystery boy. I knew it was cowardly but I turned and ran for my truck. There was no way I could handle those girls and deal with my mysterious mate as well.

As I pulled into my space at the pack house, I released the breath I hadn't known I held in. I climbed out of the truck and made my way inside. I didn't stop until I made it to the alpha's office. I rasped my knuckles on the door three times and entered when a deep 'come in' was called.

"Killian! What a pleasant surprise, what are you doing here? With what happened to your face?" he rambled as I walked in and sat across from him.

"There are some things that we need to discuss. I think it's best if you call the Luna and Kelsey in here for the rest of the conversation." I replied and he turned serious in an instant. I could see him zone out and contact his wife and child. It didn't take long for the two women to walk into the room.

"What is going on?" the Luna, Isabella, asked as she stood next to her husband. A gasp escaped both of the females as they saw my face.

"What happened to you?" Kelsey demanded as she grabbed my face by the chin. I gently pulled her hands down and gave her a tight smile.

"There is much to discuss. Please take a seat and get comfortable." I said as I rubbed my face with both hands. I heard some furniture being shuffled and knew they did as I asked.

"Alright, now tell us what this is all about." Kaizer ordered and I raised an eyebrow. I had never had trouble with authority but now I, with Selene, was the authority.

"Please?" he added uncomfortably when Selene tried to push through. I could feel the familiar feeling of my eyes shifting color.

"Well, I should start with this morning. Carson and I got to school with no problems. It stayed that way until I got to my class. I was surprised with a welcome from several pack members who had seen me around." I explained what happened up until I froze time and they all stared at me in shock. From what, I do not know. I voiced my worry about how she knew of my ability to help her find her mate. Then I pulled Charlie from my pocket and held her out in my palm.

"This is Charlie and she used to be Tiffany's wolf. While Tiffany can still shift, she will not have a wolf guide ever again. I erased her memories of me before I took her. However, she figured it out somehow that I took something from her. Not that I took Charlie but that I did something to make her feel empty. Both Selene and I decided to take her and I do not regret it. Our child needed help and I could not leave her to that hell. She would have died a slow and painful death." I added and they all nodded with the exception of the alpha. My guess was he was deep in thought about how to handle the situation.

"And what will you do with Charlie now that she no longer has a host?" Kelsey asked worriedly and I understood her concerns. Not only did they have a loose cannon with Tiffany but they now had another uncertainty with Charlie.

"Well, there are several options but in the end, she will have to choose for herself. The first option is to send her back to Selene and I's home realm. She would live there for a time until she was paired with a new human. The second option is for me to turn her into a full wolf and she can start over as a pup. She would live out the lifespan of a wolf until it was her time to go. Though, she would not return to our realm, she would instead be reborn just as all living things are. The third option would be for her to remain by my side as my chosen companion. It wouldn't be romantic, it would be the same as a mother and her child. The fourth is an experiment that follows the rules of the former option." I explained and they all listened intently.

"They all seem like good options but the fourth option?" Isabella asked and I nodded in understanding. I had not explained it and I knew that there would be questions no matter what.

"Well, it was an idea Selene had. She would stay here with me as our daughter just as I said. However, she would not just have a wolf form, she would also have a human form without a host. Similar to what I did with Tiffany only in reverse. She would also have two wolf forms since I can't change the original form I gave her. I can only add another form to the ones she already has." I explained further and looked down to the tiny Charlie in my palm. She tilted her head like an adorable puppy and smiled in a very wolf like way. I smiled down at her but quickly realized I should give her the ability to speak with the others.

"Tala" I mumbled the quick spell and explained that she could now speak aloud to both her and the group.

"You put so much thought into this, didn't you?" Charlie asked in a quiet voice and I smiled softly down at her. Sadness filled me as she looked back with tears in her amber eyes.

"I want the best for my children and you deserved so much more than what you got. Whether you stay or go, It is now my mission to save all of my children that have suffered such." I responded and she nodded her little fluffy head. I wanted to coo at how cute she was but that was not the time or place.

"Do you need time to decide?" I asked softly and she shook her head with a definitive 'no'.

"I want the fourth option if you are so willing. However, I want to start over as a pup. I want my memories taken away and to make new ones as your daughter." she responded and my eyes grew wide. I had not expected such a response and looked to the Alpha and Luna to see the jealousy and curiosity in their eyes. It was not until that moment that I realized that they didn't want to adopt me because they cared. They wanted to adopt me because they wanted another child. I had to shake those thoughts off and turn back to Charlie. Her amber eyes were already on me and I smiled knowing I could not turn her down.

"So shall it be, my daughter." Selene and I said together. That was all it took for her to yip in joy and lick my palm in thanks. The others watched on with soft smiles as I allowed Selene to once again take control.

"Buyisela emuva izandla zesikhathi bese unquma lokho okwake kwaba khona. Buyisa izinkumbulo, umnikeze amafomu we-thre, futhi umvumele akhule nothando lwami ukumqondisa." I chanted as Charlie was surrounded by a bright pink light. I felt the magic take away her memories and make the changes to her body. I felt it as her biology changed to make her my biological daughter. I felt as the new bond was created from that of a creator to a true parent. Soon enough, there was an infant in my arms with bright amber eyes wide open.

"Holy sh-" Kelsey started but my glare shut her up. Instead she moved to my side to get a better look at the small Charlie.

"Now that Charlie is taken care of, there is more." I announced and they all stiffened. I knew they were probably tired but it was best if I told them everything.

"Of course, how else can we be of service?" the Luna asked with a tight smile.

"Wait, that can't be…" Kelsey mumbled as she grabbed my arm. She smelled my wrist and growled at me. Startled, I held Charlie closer to my chest and growled back. Kelsey seemed to understand and backed away from us.

"Sorry but why do you smell like Lucy?" she asked and I raised an eyebrow. Both of her parents were by my side in seconds. They each took their own whiff of the scent.

"Who the hell is that?" I asked and she sighed. I tilted my head in confusion but she took her seat beside me.

"He was my twin brother and he was kidnapped when we were children." she responded but I had no idea how to respond. Then, it all made sense. The way his gray eyes seemed so familiar, how he was the only male to touch that hand, and how he took an interest in his safety before the mate bond was established.

"That is not possible… he can't be Ciel. He is dead! I was told that he was dead!" I started our quiet but slowly grew louder with each word. Isabella took Charlie from my hands and I grew more agitated.

"Ciel? No way… is that you, Kai?" she asked and my eyes shot to hers. She was the sister to my childhood friend and now my mate.

"Ci-Ci…" I whispered just before she tackled me to the floor. She hugged me and gave me an eskimo kiss just like when we were kids. I smiled at her with tears in my eyes and she wore the same expression. I sat up with her curled up in my chest to check on my daughter. Charlie seemed content so I looked to the parents of my best friends and they both held odd expressions.

"Today after school…" I started as I explained what happened with Tiffany and her two friends. I explained about the mystery boy and how he was my mate. I told them about how I just figured out who he was. Then I knew I had to find him, no matter what.
