Rebirth is not an easy feat. At first, there was nothing; no memories, no feeling, no color to see. As if all of your senses are shut down and incomprehensible.
Then, in an instant, feeling comes, a faint beat in the chest. The beat becomes more powerful as the rest of your body comes to life. A tingle starts in every body part you can imagine and slowly turns harsh. You become aware that there is something heavy and cold making contact behind you from head to toe. You later realize that this is the sensation of laying down. The beat is loud in your ears, and that's the next sense that comes to life; hearing. The blood rushes within you and you hear a quiet beeping and the sound of two people breathing; one is you, and the other is unknown. Who else is in the room?
At the same time comes taste and smell, both unidentifiable for now but you will later realize that the taste is your own flesh that resides in your mouth and the smell is that of medication and metal. Later on the beating of your heart quiets as a more alarming sense comes into play; sight. The darkness is replaced by light as you open your eyes for the first time, and every other sense is on the back of your mind as you cope with these new changes, of what will stay with you until you die.
Death.
How did that happen?
No memories are available, and as Ashley turned her head towards the other person breathing, she saw a man staring back at her with tears in his eyes, his hands entrapping hers.
