I decided to grab a taxi just in case Jim will bring his own car. I instructed the driver to drive me to the cinema.
While he was driving, the driver looked at me through the mirror. "You look very excited with that face of yours, Miss. May I know why?" The driver asked.
"Oh my, is it really too obvious?" I cupped my cheeks out of embarassment. "Well, you can say that indeed I am. As you can see, my Boyfriend is going to propose tonight!"
"But shouldn't that be kept as a surprise?"
"When we started dating, he promised me to propose on our 5th anniversary. Although we were still childish at that time, but maybe he really mean it. That's why I'm really excited."
"Is that so? Then I hope it goes well!" The driver cheered me up, making me feel more relaxed and confident.
"Thank you, Mr. Driver." I smiled at him through the mirror.
"You can call me Rome." He said.
"Oh, and I'm Juliette. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Rome."
"It is the same as to you too, Mrs. Juliette."
I blush at what he said. "Oh dear, he hasn't proposed to me, yet you're already calling me Mrs..."
"But he soon will, Mrs. Juliette." He playfully said that word again, which it made me laugh.
He kept me company for a couple of minutes until we arrive at the cinema. I gave him the money, but he refused to take it, saying it's an early gift for my wedding. I gave him another thank you before going inside the cinema.
While waiting in the ticket line, I start to question when and where Jim will surprise me. 'Should I just wait for a bit? Or should I buy 2 tickets for us? But then it's a surprise. Maybe he'll propose to me after the movie? I'll just get one ticket then.' With my fixed answer, I paid for one ticket. I bought a mid-size popcorn and a can of coke, then I head inside. I found an empty seat at the 4th row. Right after I sat down, they turned the lights off and turned the projector on.
I exhaled. 'Glad I came just in time.'
Just as the colored cartoon started-
"Let's sit there, babe."
I heard a very familiar voice. I immediately looked up at the couple passing me by. The man assisted the woman by holding her waist tightly. Then they sat down at the two empty seats in front of me.
Everything went still. I was dumbfounded. I couldn't focus at the movie anymore. I couldn't move.
They were not just any strangers. They weren't just any couple. In fact, they shouldn't be a couple! I know them. Their faces. Their voices...
It's him... It's my boyfriend, Jim who is holding the hand of my best friend, Sara.
All of my thoughts are in a complete chaos, but I still asked myself...
'Is this... The Surprise?'
