After about 5 minutes Kale and Logan are suddenly given another choice to make. They both scroll to the very bottom glance at each other and nod selecting the city of "Ironwood" as their root city. They hasn't heard of any of these choices before but by seeing everyone else no one they could see wasn't going all the way down.
After now waiting those final minutes away a bright blue portal opens in the middle along with a voice overhead. "On the other side of this portal your very own life with begin anew, please step forward." Upon hearing this everyone including Kale and his brother began moving towards and eventually inside of the portal. It was all a blur the only lingering affect from the portal was a strange copper taste in the mouth, but they were now standing out front of what looks like a tavern.
Logan wasn't impressed, "Kale....this place is a shit hole."
Kale nodded his head in agreement "yeah, it's not to hot let's explore abit maybe we're just not on the right side of town."
The two brothers walked about ten steps when a young woman with a round face and rounder bottom came up to them. "Hello travelers my name is Gale I'm here to show you around if you have any questions feel free to ask away." They both quietly began to follow and listen, they knew better than to ignore a tutorial in something unique.
After 45 minutes of traveling being show this and that the brothers finally asked three main questions that they had prepared along the way. Kale blurted out "What happens when we die?"
Gale quickly looked up at him "You have a few options one being rezzed on the spot, another being die outright and wake up in the binding point of your choice." She paused for a minute before looking at hem coldly and said "But if your killed in the shadow zone.....you cease to exist, that'll end our tour enjoy yourselves."
They both made a mental note to avoid this shadow zone as they set off to a quest board in the town square. Gale had explained that although they had no money or equipment a level one quest would be fine as the gate guard would give them a weapon. They quickly saw the same posting and snatched it up. Logan smiled "Kale we have to slay a few goblins infesting a cave to the east of town." Kale laughed "oh I fucking hate goblins."
They headed towards the gate when a guard walked up to them with his hands up. "Wait wait wait, you can't go out there looking like beggars take these in front of him we're three different weapons. A sword and shield, a bow and quiver, and a staff.
Both were unsure about magic so Kale grabbed the sword and shield and Logan went with the bow. "Hey Logan you think you can aim that thing?"
Logan smirked "Hold still let's find out."
The guard had given them advice as well as directions on how to fight these goblins. They had learned much of what they knew about these evil creatures remained the same so they figured should be easy enough. They walked for what seemed like hours until finally they heard movement and what sounded like talking although they weren't sure of the language about 50 yards to their east.
They quickly devised a plan on their combat roles once they had decided on a strategy they both head off to get ready.
Kale sat behind a tree hiding himself from sight with his sword at the ready his job was to wait for the signal from Logan before he stepped into the battle.
20 yards away Logan had a few arrows at the ready and was creeping towards the noises he understood his role was to get off a quick shot into one and lure the others back so they could engage together he pulled his arrow back and then his vision went black.
A few moments later he woke up to Kale talking to him saying something but he couldn't quite make it out, so he sat up shook his head "what happened Kale?"
"Well I'll be honest with you 10 seconds after you walked off I had three arrows in my chest." Said Kale in a slightly pained expression.
"What do you mean they knew we were there...there fucking goblins tho...how could they have expected an ambush.
They both rushed to the guard quickly trying to figure out how they were completely bested by some lowly goblins to their surprise he just laughed, "My young fellows I see you underestimated those pesky goblins as all new adventurers do they're not as stupid as you would believe." He said these things as he pointed to the training area to the side of the gate where they could see multiple others all with an exhausted look on their face. "Most of them have died at least 10 times now."
Kale looked and Logan "looks like this isn't going to be as easy as we thought."
