Ἑλαφηβολιών, Τρίτη (Triti.) 1184
The sun's rays awoke me this morning. All the other men were up and out of their beds, sounds of metal clanging and men shouting can be heard from outside the barracks. I rouse out of my cot and head outside to join my men in morning training. During the training word spreads that Menelaus lost his wife to the Trojan prince. I think Menelaus is also trying to get King Agamemnon to join him to battle troy. During our supper we were informed that the rumors were true and that we would be setting out to sea soon to fight troy.
Ἑλαφηβολιών, Πέμπτη (Pemti.)-Παρασκευή (Paraskevi.) 1184
Poseidon has blessed our voyage so far, we aren't far from the shores of troy. We have just landed and Achilles and his men have already taken over the beach and temple. Just finished setting up camp and now we are about to head to sleep, tomorrow we head to troy. The sun rises once more but i do not awake full of energy no i feel a sort of dread looming over me. As we eat our morning rations and get our armor on all the men are full of pride and courage, but I feel the impending doom that will fall on us today. As we march my fears were confirmed when Achilles and his men were not with us.
Ἑλαφηβολιών, Παρασκευή (Paraskevi.) 1184
We retreated like dogs with our tails between our legs, many were killed and even more were wounded. I am one of the many wounded for i have a gash in my chest, they have patched it up the best they can but I know I won't make the night. Knowing this, I have written a letter to my wife and daughter explaining that I won't make it home, I leave the letter along with this journal now i must rest for it is too much to try and write now. I write late at night now for this may be my final words before I leave to join my brother on the other side. It is cold here in my bed, and the lives of those I have taken beckon me to join them. I am a spartan soldier who bravely fought for greece and even if my name is forgotten to time i know my story won't.
