Chapter 70 - Dirty Secret

The night was stormy. The thunder rumbled in the distant sky. The change in weather was sudden and unpredictable. Pellets of rain hit the carriage.

Joanna groaned at the cold temperature.

"That Alice, I shouldn't have trusted her," said Joanna.

The carriage shook, and their pathway only turned darker. The carriage was then stopped, and one of the guards outside spoke, "Lady Joanna, we will have to look for shelter here. It is not safe to travel in this weather."

"Whatever," Joanna responded, "find somewhere fast."

She then complained, "Ah! This would destroy my shoes, and they were my favorite ones! I will teach that Alice a lesson once I return."

Odette was still sleeping. As for Adrian, he stared out of the window. The guards were stationed around their carriage while two left to search for a shelter.
