In my mind I just kept thinking, what would my friends think if I moved without warning them, no...what would Ely think...I rubbed my eyes and ignored the thought. I have to get better first.
The days quickly passed by I had a few sessions of therapy since I had constantly had nightmares about Zac. When my therapy sessions were finally over, my parents took me back home and discussed wether my family and I should stay or move out.
We were having a peaceful breakfast when a man knocked on the door. I opened the door and there was a man I had never seen before, he said "Everythings ready, I just need you to sign so we can get ready to move everything to your new home". I shut the door and quickly ran back to the dining table "I'm not leaving!" I screamed. "Nicole, we have gone over this multiple times, you aren't safe here and you're not staying and that's final" my father argued. I slammed my hand into the table and ran upstairs...I quickly locked the door behind me. I then heard banging on my door "Nicole open this door!" my father yelled. In my mind I kept thinking...If I open that door, I'll be forced to move away.
I quickly ran into my closet and grabbed a backpack which I put 4 pairs of clothes inside. I then opened my allowance which I had been saving up since last Christmas. I quickly counted the money "six hundred and twenty dollars" I murmured to myself. I quickly stuffed more items into my backpack when I heard my father banging on the door.
I quickly pushed my bed to the door and opened the window. I threw my backpack through the window, I didn't care where my backpack had landed I just wanted to leave. I quickly stepped out of the window. As I tried stepping out, the banging on the door got louder as I heard my father scream my name. I got distracted and didn't notice my foot slip. I fell to the grass directly on my back. I had fallen two stories tall. All the air in my lungs was gone, I couldn't breath. I quickly ignored my pain and rolled to my left side reaching for my backpack.
A loud bang came from the second floor. I looked up at the window where my room was as my father yelled "NICOLE WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING". I grabbed my backpack and began to run, I could hear my mother and father trying to start the car. They could catch up to me in no time... No I can't think like this. I ran to the nearest store and went inside. I hid in a corner where no one from outside could see me but just enough for me to peek outside. I anxiously waited for their car to pass...I saw their car and all I could think of was how badly I would be punished if they caught me. I saw the car turning my way, no...no...please...turn around...I shut my eyes and begged that when I opened them everything would be okay.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw the car turning away. I fell to my knees in relief. I heard whispering and quickly stood up in embarrassment. I turned around and bumped into a tall person. I winced in pain and covered my nose with my hands. Oww... "Sorry didn't see you there". I quickly recognized the voice and covered my face with my left arm. "Sorry- Are you alright? Does it hurt? Let me see".
I couldn't let Ely see me like this. "I-I'm fine!" Ely gently grabbed my arm and pulled it away from my face. "Nicole?" I rushed past him and quickly ran towards the exit. My body still hurted from the fall but I kept running. As I was about the reach the door Ely quickly rushed passed me and grabbed the handle.
I tumbled towards him and the door and found myself in even more pain. "Nicole what's gotten into you? Why are you acting like this?" Ely insisted. I couldn't hold back the tears anymore and began to silently cry in his arms. We stayed like this for a few seconds before Ely slowly made me stand up. He didn't say anything but just left with me outside with me still holding on tight to him. I found comfort in his arms. He was so warm...
